    Convenience is Everything!

    Ski-in/Ski-out
Simply stated, Crescendo’s location is second to none. First, Crescendo is a true ski-in/ski-out chalet. Leave the home through our ski breezeway, and then ski/board down to Happy Valley, to the Gondola, or to three different chairlifts. The Plaza Chair and the Gondola return you to the village, and both the Ridge Rocket (4 person) and Snow Ghost (6 person) drop you atop one of Big White’s peaks.

    Convenience – for You
Need to make a rest stop, or to break for coffee, hot chocolate, or lunch? Want to change-out a layer of clothing? If you’re staying at Crescendo, convenience is continually yours. Situated at the very corner of Hummingbird Run & Gondola Way, Crescendo is only steps to the main village. The ski run, in fact, is groomed right to our ski-in breeze-way (see video).

    Convenience – for Kids
Have a child or teen at ski school or in a boarding class? Each day, several of the groups gather right outside Crescendo’s Great Room: about five feet from the deck. From the couch in the Great Room, watch your child in class, against the backdrop of panoramic splendor (see gallery tour).

      Best spot on Big White!!!

Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013

So many things to say about crescendo!! Magnificent location, right down the village and snowboard down to happy village. I love that there was everything to do at Crescendo, there was never a dull day or night. Easy access in and out with keyless entry, plenty of space for two families, lots of activities (workout, nice theater room, ping pong and indoor outdoor jacuzzi. Everything was modern and hi-tech but very user friendly. this is top notch luxury. will definitely be back for next season.

This was definitely paradise. Well thought out when Crescendo was built, from heated floors, touch control in each room, easy access in with fob key after long day out on the mountain, excellent location (taking breaks for lunch). The indoor outdoor jacuzzi was nice so relaxing after a long day and we never had to wait for it to warm up. The ping pong table plus bumper/poker table kept the group occupied and there was never a dull time. The media room movie selection was full of popular and old school. I will definitely be back for a guys snowboarding trip or even a bachelor party. Thanks Mitch!

My pleasure, Jeff! Glad you got to enjoy so many of Crescendo’s amenities, in addition to Big White and Crescendo’s proximity to the slope (5 feet) and main village (100 yards). Glad, also, that you took advantage of the theatre, even though I understand you never did get to see Kinky Boots: one of my favorites. Thanks for the great review. Mitch

We have stayed at the Crescendo for a few years. Our first time was in 07', 6 mths. after my first Daughter. We brought my parents and had just a fantastic quality family trip from adventures, facility to the overall experience. Since then we have been five other times. In fact we loved it so much we surprised, my family and brought them up for a Christmas present all 16 of us. What a time to remember.!Being able to be just below the village ski in and ski out. There is something for everyone. Even if that means curling up in front of the fireplace watching the skiers or reading a good book. Whats not to love..

Thanks Natalie for taking the time to post a review of Crescendo. Soooo many positive changes since you visited us three years ago. For example,
      - No more DVDs. Now we stream more than 900 movie titles into the theatre via our 24 tb redundant hard drive system. Searching through the titles are now so much easier, as well, with the theatre's tablet.
      - Upgraded amps & speakers (and stereo subwoofers) in Theatre & Great Room.
      - Boot Dryers in ski entry (holds 14 pairs of boots)
      - Rec Room (Garage), completely redone, with pro Ping Pong, Poker table, Bumper Pool table, sleeper couch, and more
      - Brand new bedroom added, with 4 custom Twin Beds (and cabinetry) - absolutely gorgeous!
      - Larger capacity outdoor BBQ
      - sooooooooo much more.
Can't wait for you to experience Crescendo once again! Mitch

      Crescendo = Spectacular!!

      "Unparalleled excellence"? I absolutely agree!

We had a fantastic time at Big White and Crescendo was a big reason why: ideal location, superbly comfortable and beautifully designed. Functional and spacious, all tied together in luxury. My boyfriend is not a skier (yet!) but my friends and I hit the hill with relish. It was so convenient to not only have ski in/out abilities but being so close the mountain village was a treat. While we were on the slopes Peter was busy using the kitchen (to make lunch for us!), soaking in the hot tub/pool and enjoying the fully equipped media room. We also had a fun battle in the games room with a ping pong tournament... because we're not at all competitive. ;)

All in all, a wonderful time had by all, and we fully endorse this accommodation to those inclined to either hit the slopes or just relax.

We'd love to come back in the summer to enjoy the comforts of Crescendo in the sunshine for hiking and biking, and so I can avenge my title as ping pong champion. Until next time!

When you want the Best ... look no further than the Crescendo

Left on 04/09/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Our family stayed at the Crescendo for five days over spring break and for the first time I am moved to write a review about this amazing home. From the photos we viewed prior to our arrival, to our final farewell, the Crescendo met and exceeded our expectations for a memorable holiday. I would like to make specific mention of the very kind welcome and tour of the house including its convenient touch screen system control panels throughout. Sheila made us feel like we had arrived at a home away from home - Thanks! The wine and bag of coffee beans on the bar also beckoned to us to get comfortable avant- and apres ski!
The architectural design of the home is impressive: beginning with the spiral staircase; the open concept main floor with grand two-story floor to ceiling windows; a kitchen fit for a chef; and on up to the master bedroom with luxurious ensuite featuring a fabulous walk-in shower with steam spa and a romantic two-person soaker/jetted tub that looks out over the great room below and the vista of Big White beyond. The other two bedrooms each have private bathrooms - and our two boys loved sleeping up in the cozy loft! And then there are the amenities. The media room has a home-theatre system complete with expansive film collection, well-stocked bar/kitchenette and cleverly planned Murphy beds for extra sleeping accommodations. The indoor-outdoor pool/swim spa - wired for sound, of course - and table tennis/weight room/game center housed in the heated garage round out the space to make the Crescendo an all-inclusive in itself! In fact, when we weren't out skiing or gathered around the great glass dining table for meals, our kids bee-lined to the pool or the table tennis - an unexpected gift of time for the adults.
We have stayed at Big White several times and keep coming back for the great snow and even better people, but we have never found ourselves in such a prime location, both in terms of ski-in/ski-out and a 5 min. walk up to the Village.

      The very definition of Ski-in / Ski-out!

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

The Crescendo was very well organized and equipped, not to mention luxurious. There was plenty of room for any amount of people, comfortable beds, large kitchen, and many things to do inside the house it's self. The hot tub was very well used! The touch pads were an excellent feature, and unfortunately the home theatre was out of use, as the projector was not working. The wii and ping pong table were much enjoyed as well. The house was clean, spacious, and relaxing! The location was very nice because it was ski-in and ski-out, which was very handy to us. Overall, amazing place! Hope to come back someday!

Thanks Kate! So glad you enjoyed the touchpanel controls in each room: 13 touchpanels throughout the home, in fact. That was something I insisted on when building Crescendo.

Theatre – Yes, one of the wires on the projector had jiggled loose, which is why everything had a green cast for that first movie you all watched. Still, since we had come over straight-away and fixed that for you all, I think someone in your party just didn’t want the kiddos to know that it was all working. I followed on your heels, in fact, as I arrived at Crescendo as you were leaving. Loaded the server with all the latest movies, too: Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Breaking Dawn Part II, Wrecki-It Ralph, and more. Anyway, the two things we won’t let anyone do without at Crescendo, are the theatre and the pool/hot tub.

Hope you can make it back soon. Dr. Mitch

      Like staying in a palace

Left on 03/30/2013 for a stay in January 2010

I cannot possibly rate Crescendo highly enough! I spend a week there in 2007 and loved it so much that I went back for another week in 2010. If I weren't a broke college student I can promise you that I'd be there every single year. The house is beautiful and futuristic in a way that few places can compare to. Everything is automated and - to put it simply- fancy. The lights and anything technological are all on control panels on the wall, and every time I think I've seen everything there is to see about the house I find another nook or cool tidbit I hadn't found yet. The showers are all awesome (especially after a long day of skiing) and the indoor-outdoor hot tub is amazing.

Perhaps the best thing about Crescendo though is that despite its impressive amenities and amazing gadgets (I've barely scraped the surface of them in this review) it still manages to feel cozy and comfortable. When I'm in Crescendo I always feel like I'm at home (or maybe that's just caused by my intense envy that I don't actually live there).

Oh, and it's very important to mention that Crescendo is literally right next to the ski slopes, making the house ski-in-ski-out, which is fantastic if you want to get in a full day's skiing (or if you're lazy like me and you don't like hiking half a mile with skis slung over your shoulder).

Overall I'd rate my stays at Big White and Crescendo as the best ski trips I've ever had- hands down. As I mentioned at the beginning, I'd give this place more than five stars if it were possible. If you have the opportunity to stay here I highly recommend it.

Wow! Thanks for the great review Jason! Obviously, you really get what Crescendo is all about. Luxury, convenience, and simplicity – all wrapped-up into one. The proximity to the slopes and to the village, in concert with the built-in technology and the home’s warm & fuzzy layout, combine to create quite the experience. I’m at Crescendo right now (early April) to the end of the season. The forecast is for snow every day for the next 6 days, at least. Thanks again, Dr. Mitch

Glad you enjoyed the Theatre. Bringing with me about 30 more movie titles to load on the server, including all the very latest that were just released. Meeting with my architect and finisher, as well, to discuss some possible exciting changes (e.g., creating a way for guests to be able to close-off the game room where the sofa bed and poker table current reside, essentially making it into another bedroom). A private home that feels like a 5 star resort

Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in March 2012

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to stay at Crescendo twice! Every detail of the home was well planned. I think it goes without saying that the home is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. As an avid travel, who often rents private homes, I wanted to share some of my favorite things about Crescendo.

Truly ski-in ski-out; strap on your skis or board and ski down to the first chair! At the end of the day, ski through the village right to your front door.

The heated floors; yes they are warm but the floors are never wet and messy from ski gear!

The heated deck around the hot tub/pool; the fact that the hot tub/pool is both indoor and outdoor is quite impressive but there is nothing more amazing than sitting outside, in a swimsuit, on a warm deck, snow falling all around...the details!

The fully stocked kitchen; everything you would expect in your own luxury kitchen including sharp knives! We cooked every night and every item we needed was at our disposal.

Theatre room; comfy, tons of movie choices and great sound. We spent every night in this room!

Workout equipment; It was amazing having a Total Gym there to use...we've all had our fair share of ski injuries and it was great to have a way to squeeze in pre or post ski workout.

Crescendo is by far, the nicest ski home we have ever rented! I look forward to my next stay!

Amazing how nice it is not to have to worry about tracking snow/water on our heated floors. You also picked-up on our TotalGym’s PowerTower. The PowerTower was actually designed for high performance functional sports training (as well as for clinical physical rehabilitation), so it is a perfect complement to Crescendo’s other extraordinary amenities. Notably, the gym’s corporate office, personally, stocked our video library with beginner to advanced work-out routines that cover virtually every muscle group. I’m hoping you got to take advantage of some of those during your stay. Thanks again! Mitch

Thanks Alex for the review. Yes, you all were able to get Crescendo on a Peak Season weekend for close to the Regular Ski Season price. You scored on that one. Still, even during Regular Ski Season pricing, at $2k/per night and a group of 16 adults that would only be $125/per person per night. At 22 adults (Crescendo’s capacity), that would only be $90/per person per night. With Crescendo, then, one does not have to actually be rich person’s to play in a rich person’s ski home. Amazing accommodations & Excellent Customer Service

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in September 2012

My company was looking for a rental property to hold one of its training meetings for a new product launch. Instead of going the usual hotel route, we wanted a more "homey" feel, where our guests could have more face time with each other in a less formal setting. Crescendo worked out perfectly in providing the meeting/presentation space we needed, as well as plenty of room for relaxing and having fun. After our product meetings were done each day, the kitchen/great room was where we stayed most of the time. It was the perfect area for cooking meals together (a great bonding activity) and just hanging out after a long day of learning.

On top of all this, we had great customer service from Mitchel and his team. We were well taken care of before, during, and after our trip. I would definitely recommend Crescendo for anyone looking for either business or pleasure accommodations.

If you enjoy contemporary architecture with an ultra modern electronics this is the place to stay. Oh yes, the skiing was also a lot of fun. We had a party of 20 people covering 3 generations and this place was able to comfortably accomodate everyone and their unique needs. There are several places for groups to gather or sullen teenagers to withdraw to. It is a true ski in, ski out place and only a couple minutes walk from the main village. We had been talking about renting the place for the last 4 years and were glad we did.

Thanks John for taking the time to write the review. We’re looking at making some additional changes to Crescendo – perhaps this summer or next – to include allowing the Game Room to be privatized as a separate bedroom upon demand as well (e.g., sliding frosted panels). This wouldn't be to accommodate more guests, but so that the guests can have even that much more privacy when wanted. One of my goals with Crescendo was to have the spaces to be both open and usable at all times (i.e., not to have too many designated bedrooms sitting there unused), and for several spaces to be able to easily convert to various usages depending upon a guest’s wants/needs. The Media Room, of course, was designed with that in mind, but I’ve always looked at the Game Room as being an additional area that could do that as well. Glad you all enjoyed Crescendo to its fullest. Dr. Mitch.

We entered the front door and with the touch of one button the chalet came alive with lights, music and fire. There is nothing predictable in this home, everything is magical. The 35 foot tall open stairwell leads to six levels. Each floor is fun to explore and full of surprises. The best feature for me was the indoor/outdoor pool/hot tub!

The place is equipped with everything and we felt instantly at home. The location is one of the best on the mountain. It is just a short walk to the village and set right on a main run.

Since 2007 we have had the privilege to stay at the Crescendo three times with our family and my husband stayed once with his hockey team. We have so many great memories and cant wait for our next stay!

      Amazing Stay at Big White!

Left on 02/11/2013 for a stay in January 2010

We had the privilege of staying at Crescendo at Big White with some family and friends, and it was an amazing get away (that we never wanted to end).
Upon our arrival, we did a quick walk through to check out our accommodation, and it did not disappoint. It was even better in person than the website description and photos !
Once we unloaded our supplies for our stay, we settled in and began to feel like we had left the real world behind. The next few days were filled with great food, wine, games, laughter and socializing. We managed to get out and enjoy all that Big White has to offer, but always looked forward to returning to our "Crescendo Castle". We thoroughly enjoyed movie watching in the amazing home theater, some ping pong, using the BBQ, late night tubing & tobogganing, and the indoor / outdoor hot tub ! Even sitting in the great room in front of the fire listening to some music while socializing with the adults, while the kids played ping pong, made popcorn, and watched all kinds of movies on the large home theater screen and amazing surround sound system!

We will definitely be looking forward to our next stay at Crescendo, and would highly recommend this accommodation for anyone who wants to spoil themselves with Big White's most exclusive accommodation. You will be the envy of all who ski by!

      Mitch -

Thanks again for the wonderful opportunity to stay at Crescendo for a whole week in early September. The weather was perfect: mid 70's during the day and low 60's at night (we gave up on Celsius, we are proud ignorant americans). It was wonderfully quiet on the mountain. Enjoyed hangin-out with the locals at Carver's (only place open, but food was good).

Crescendo is a technical marvel! The only thing missing are automatic toilet paper dispensers, but I'm sure you are working on it. The indoor/outdoor spa was a treat, the steam shower in the master and the Jacuzzi looking out over the Great Room and the mountains - great touch.

I can see what you mean that Crescendo can hold alot of people at once without the feeling of being crowded - with all the multi levels and ways to entertain oneself. We felt very cozy just the two of us.

We had a great time in that wonderful state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen. Cooked to our heart's content. Used the outdoor barbeque a lot, being so close to the kitchen. I told anellina the only thing the kitchen lacked was the Ice Cream maker, and then I found that too.

Wonderful wine tasting down the mountain. Our visits to the wineries were impressive.

In summary, it was lovely, tremendous views, exquisitely quiet in the mountains with bright and beautiful stars at night. It is truly a place to relax and luxuriate. . A truly wonderful way to spend our anniversary which we have for the past two years.

Left on 02/05/2013 for a stay in April 2010

I have had the enormous pleasure of staying at Crescendo for both Business and personal pleasure several times over the past 6 years. My first stay at Crescendo in early april 2008 was so overwhelming, I forgot to ski! I returned the following year in later april 2009 with 30 business associates, 15 of them staying the weekend . The TV room is ideal for presentations, and the elegant Great Room/Gourmet kitchen was perfect for our cocktail party. I returned in July of 2010 for a birthday party with 18 friends! We had a wonderful weekend! Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter - whatever the reasons - its all perfect at Crescendo's!
Mitch is amazing to deal with as well. In addition to his wonderful humour, he makes securing the rental a breeze, is always there to help, amazing quick responding to emails, and always available to make your experience at Crescendo a perfectly elegant affair.
I would highly recommend Crescendo for any event, corporate, personal, Wedding, Golf Trips (amazing golf courses close by), Family Re-unions, Skiing (of course), and just plain chillin' out!

      Best Vacation Ever

Left on 02/02/2013 for a stay in February 2012

Quite simply, Crescendo is the nicest, most beautiful vacation home in which I have ever stayed. The home is enormous yet very welcoming. The bedrooms and bathrooms felt homely but also luxurious. We listened to music almost constantly over the built in over-head sound system, and watched movies every night in the personal theater.

Preparing meals in the spacious, modern kitchen was fun and easy. I could go on and on about the beauty of the living room, with its massive windows and gorgeous gas fireplace. We enjoyed countless hours playing games and recounting the days events in front of that fireplace.

I had previously only skied in the east, and was blown away by the quality and length of the slopes at Big White. I was also amazed that we were literally living right on the mountain, and could go out the back door each morning, put on our gear, and immediately resume skiing. Stopping for lunch was also awesome, because no time was wasted waiting in line or driving to a restaurant: we simply skied up to the back door, took off our gear in the large laundry room (with two washers and two driers), and ate at our convenience.

Another amazing option at Crescendo is the hot tub. There is nothing like walking out into the gently falling snow after a day of fantastic skiing, looking up at the gorgeous Canadian skyline while wearing only a bathing suit, and then climbing into a steaming hot tub. We fit 10+ people into the hot tub, and would have had room for plenty more.

In short, Crescendo is an amazing place, ideally located on an incredible ski resort. I loved every minute that I spent there, and recommend it whole-heartedly. If you are going on a skiing/snowboarding vacation in Canada, do it the right way, and go to Crescendo.

The huge indoor/outdoor hot tub was fun, the games rooms and huge projector TV were awesome, and the beautiful kitchen/living room had enough space for all the adults to gather for food and conversation.

We had the privilege of staying in the master suite, and it is gorgeous, and the ensuite bathroom was fabulous - huge steam shower and soaker tub.

We loved our family ski holiday at the beautiful Crescendo. It is certainly a unique property ideally located at Big White, and has too many amenities to name. We did thoroughly enjoy the vaulted great room - the huge windows provided a spectacular view, and the kitchen was extremely well supplied. We found Dr. Mitch (owner) and Sheila (property manager) a pleasure to deal with. Sheila was very responsive when there were a few glitches with some of the electronics. Although Crescendo can sleep a large number of people, as there are just 3 bedrooms, privacy with overnight accommodations for a large number of people may be a consideration. Thanks again for sharing this wonderful property!

Thanks Pat! Yes, if I recall, it was during your stay that, two days in a row, the power went out at Big White. Apparently, all that early snow downed some trees, which downed a couple power lines. Most of Crescendo’s electronics will reset themselves automatically when power returns, but to guard against power surge destruction, certain extra sensitive pieces do need to be reset manually. I’m glad, though, that Sheila was on top of that immediately for you.

Privacy considerations – We’re always improving upon Crescendo. One of the things I insisted upon in the design was for it to be convertible. I didn’t want there to be a lot of empty bedrooms, for example, and instead wanted to utilize that space when the configuration of guests allowed: hence, the three custom queen Murphy Beds in the Media Room. The final conversion-space, which we have not yet enacted, will be the Game Room. The plan was always to have that room be able to convert from Game Room to a 4th bedroom (or 5th bedroom if utilizing the Media Room as one): perhaps utilizing frosted/etched glass sliding panels. Still, that’s a year or two off in our plans. Thanks again for your very kind words, Dr. Mitch

Music through out the home is relaxing and helps the party play all night long (if you so desire). Ski-in Ski-out could not be any better, and granny can watch the grandchildren ski by.(Bonus) This home enabled us to have the most wonderful Family holiday ever. With 6 adult children, spouses and 8 grand children (2 were unable to come due to travel and work), everyone's needs were met and beyond. A 6M dollar home at around a $130 per night per person, this is the best bargin on the hill, and the most exciting place to stay. I just love your review Val. Thanks! It's true about the privacy, and I hear that a lot from guests. Even when Crescendo is filled with multiple families and guests, "the sheer size" of Crescendo (as you noted) separates the spaces so well. Glad you thought the inside/outside pool was "brilliant in design and effect." Our architect was brilliant, but that pool design is mine. That design was triggered when I was incredibly young, loving to swim but hating to leave the pool and freeze (and I grew-up in South Florida). I swore then that I'd do something about that, and I did: hence, Crescendo. Thanks again! Dr. Mitch

It was also an easy walk into the village for restaurants and entertainment. Having never stayed in a "smart house", I was amazed by what could be done from one control panel!

Thanks Wendy! Crescendo having every floor surface heated really does make a difference. Also, the geothermally-generated heat has two advantages (besides energy efficiency): first, the heat in Crescendo doesn't suck-out all the moisture like other heating sources (e.g., baseboard heating; second, the temps in the house stay constant from the ground to about 6 1/2 feet up. We had 3 generations of family staying at The Crescendo and everyone from the 1 year old to the 73 year old agreed this is the nicest and most impressive vacation home we have ever stayed in. The home is so well designed that even with 16 of us staying together, never once did we feel that we were cramped or getting in each others way. Cooking meals was a breeze in a kitchen set up so well that you could probably cater for more than double the number we had. Then having a dining table that all of us could sit together just topped it off.

The Crescendo truly is an amazing home in a great location at Big White, with easy ski access and very close to the main village. The Crescendo is a true 5 star experience.

This is my third experience at Crescendo.
You know this place is great. Ya, you hear it all the time, but, this time is a different perspective, from a "test drive" point of view. As I said before, I can appreciate the time invested in making this beast tame enough to be user friendly, for the not so tech savvy people. I've been alone in here for approximately 24 hours, and what I've come to appreciate are the little things...for example, getting the light settings for mood arrangements, and what makes the individual rooms "look good."

Right from the excitement of seeing her as you drive up Rockridge, and gawk saying "wow is that the place?!"... To trying to take in all you can in a short stay I appreciate it much more as I have been able to enjoy this place alone, before guests show, who will share the same "Wow...is this the place?" excitement.

It sure is a sweet place, and certainly is not a house, or chalet, or any other lame title...she has her own identity...Crescendo. She truly is a magical beast.

Definitely the worst part of Crescendo is leaving. This was by far the best stay for me.

Anyhow, I just want to thank you a million times. Everything was perfect. My guests were amazed!

Loving the indoor/outdoor pool! Excellent for entertaining guests

Thanks Mark for such a great review! I can see you really 'got it.' And yes, you've seen/experienced Crescendo's evolution over the years: not just our upgrades and what not, but the numerous tweaks we've done to the automation behind the scene. Even the simple 1- to 3-second fade-in/out of the lights when turning then on/off makes a big difference (and especially the 15-second fade-in when you hit "lights on" in the theatre after watching a 2- hour movie). Thanks again! Dr Mitch

      Amazing experience!

Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in September 2007

I was invited to stay at Crescendo with several friends and it was amazing! We had a blast, everything at Crescendo was perfect. The entertainment system is absolutely fantastic and the sound system in the house is great. Staying at Crescendo we felt like royalty. When you go make sure to try out the indoor/outdoor hot tub as well, you will love it. The hot tub was one of the best things about this place, you can swim under the glass and be outside watching the skiers go down the hill and if you get too cold you can swim back under the glass and be inside.

Thanks Trevor! I see you stayed at Crescendo in 2007. If you thought our entertainment systems were great then, you'll love what we have there now. We've substantially upgraded our electronics. The Great Room now rocks, with upgraded speakers, subwoofer, and it's own separate amp. The Media Room has a new preamp & amp, the two subwoofers are now in stereo, and we've tossed all the DVDs and stream movies through our 24 tb movie server. I look forward to you experiencing Crescendo once again. Dr. Mitch

Absolutely stunning custom work of art where fun awaits

Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in September 2012

Crescendo, a custom work of contemporary art, where class and technology merge, five interlocking levels surround the large round glass-blocked staircase. Don't look for a light switch, there are none! Your first touch-screen display screen is inside the front door, press "arrive" and the home comes to life. They operate the lighting, XM sound and climate control in each room; you can also view the entry cameras and unlock each entry door. The owner told me there are many miles of cabling in the home and the home is geo thermal.
Game room for games and bumper pool, REC room with ping pong, exercise equipment, etc. Large media room with, around 1000 movies on the incredible digital media system. Main level dining room and huge great room with amazing views (ski slopes 5' away) from approximate 30' curtain of glass. Great spot to entertain, read, or just turn on the fireplace and nap. Large commercial kitchen has a huge bar that opens into the great room. Guest rooms level, also the laundry facilities with two sets of commercial washer and dryers behind a curved glass brick wall. Floor to ceiling glass enclosed large custom hot tub room! From the hot tub you can swim under the wall to the outdoor resistance pool with heated concrete borders (Designers did not want you to sit on snow if you wish to sit and watch the slopes from the pool!) Heated ski-boot hangers inside to dry your ski boots. Looking through the Master Bath glass wall you can see through the large great room windows to the slopes! We stayed in non-snow season and had a wonderful time relaxing, hiking (fun opportunity to hike snowless ski sloops), reading, cooking, the hot tub, theatre and watching the incredible clarity of the stars at night from the pool. Looking forward to coming back during ski season and skiing directly off the slopes into the back door! Crescendo the "peak of amazing" simply an awesome adventure! Forgot to mention all the floors are heated!
      Owners were extremely accommodating!

Wow Thom! What can I say. What a a great tour you gave of the home. I, too, love being at Crescendo outside of Ski Season. That's when I'm there the most. Still, after you experience Crescendo during Ski Season, I'll look forward to another of your reviews.

Relaxing in Luxury steps from the slopes

Left on 01/25/2013 for a stay in March 2012

Our week at Crescendo was fantastic! We had a large group and a couple of very young children, and a few key things really allowed everyone to relax and enjoy each other's company but also have family privacy when needed.
First of all, the proximity of Crescendo to, well, virtually everything made it very convenient for us all. For those of us that were sharing parenting duties, we could ski to within 5 steps of the door of the house, stow our skis in the ski locker and step into the entryway where snowy clothes and boots are easily stowed in tidy cubbies. The boot drier would get to work on wet gear immediately. Within minutes, parenting duties were exchanged, mom/dad were happy with their time on the slopes and the kids had a ball inside with the ping-pong table, video games, media room, the garage for just running around, or getting bundled for a trip to center village to play on the playground, ride the gondola down to the tubing hill, or take a ski lesson. It was by far the most convenient experience I've had while sharing parenting duties at a ski mountain.
And once inside, the layout of the house accommodated everyone's needs really well. Maybe it was the high ceilings throughout the house that lent a sense of having ample space, even while sharing the house with a dozen or so additional people. The murphy beds in the media room were really comfy, and the built in drawers allowed you to stow away your clothes out of sight but not out of reach. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could have wanted, and the dual dishwashers meant we never ran out of clean dishes. The linens were exquisite, the speakers and TVs throughout the house, all controlled by touch-panels in every room are very cool, and watching a movie in the media room felt like being in a theatre!
I can't say enough about Crescendo, we're really looking forward to our next trip!

Blue Bird day with fresh snow! A True Ski-in, Ski-out chalet In addition to beautiful groomers, we found some real challenging terrain!

Thanks Marty! I really appreciated your review. Your group really got the most out of what Crescendo is all about. The location on the mountain and proximity to the village, of course, make Crescendo so incredibly convenient to get from slope to home. The detail you mentioned that we put into Crescendo, though, makes it incredibly convenient once in the home, to either quickly settle in or quickly make some changes to be back out again. So glad you all took advantage of all of that.

Crescendo is amazing! It is the perfect place to stay with a group and has more amenities than you could want. It surpassed all my expectations and you can't beat the location. Everyone on the mountain knows the house and will envy you for getting the opportunity to stay there. One of my favorite features of the house is the ability to sit in the hot tub and wave to the skiers going down the mountain.

Thanks Alreen! I love the same thing about the hot tub. I also love the fact that I clothing in the hot tub could still be optional, due to the pool's indoor-outdoor design. With 1/2 of the pool indoors, I can swim under the glass, enter/exit in a private (and heated) room.

The Crescendo Chalet is amazing! We had a wonderful time in B.C. Spending time with family is priceless! We had great wine, fabulous dinners, and relaxed with the breathtaking views. The house is cool and hip, but very warm and inviting...We will definitely be back someday for ski season. Thank you for making our stay unforgetable! Warmest regards, Liz

Thanks Mallika! The quality of the snow is what first sold us about Big White. If I recall, you all came to Crescendo from Utah. Before happening upon Big White, our favorite mountain was Snowbird (Alta still doesn't allow snowboarders - imagine that). The first time I skied true powder (not just deep snow) was at Snowbird. At Big White, though, I found that there was (is) so much of that powder, so often - and that first year of discovery the mountain was fully open in October! Hope to see you back soon. Dr. Mitch

Thanks Alex! On the note of "Celebrity Status," I've heard that quite a bit from guests. Everyone knows Crescendo - hard to miss, really. So just mentioning that's where you're staying gets a reaction of awe from whomever your riding up the lift with.

Thanks Peter! Yes, keeping up with Crescendo's SmartHome features is fun. The Great Room, though, is clearly the gathering point. That was the idea when we designed Crescendo. Since just about everywhere everyone ends up gathering in the Kitchen area, I insisted that the Kitchen, Dining Room, and Great Room be connected, central, and open The 28' ceilings in that area was a bonus (as well as the views and being only 5' from the main slope). Cheers, Dr. Mitch

A Wonderful Place For a Party, or For the Entire Family To Enjoy

Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in March 2012

I absolutely love Crescendo. I have stayed here 3 times now and each time it gets better. Initially I came with a huge group of friends. It was the perfect place to easily have a party and allow each person/couple do what they want. We would all get together at lunch and at the end of the day and cook family style meals. It was a blast. I then came back years later with my husband and 2 very young children (9 months and 2 years old). It was the perfect place for a family vacation as well. I honestly didn't think it would be possible for a long time to have a real family vacation with such young children. The location of the house is perfect, allowing my husband and I plenty of time to ski for hours and switch off watching the kids. I was still nursing at the time, so it was convenient for me to nurse my son and get right back out on the slopes without wasting precious travel time in between. The house was large enough that having my infant there and 2 other babies there simultaneously (who still woke up throughout the night) was not a problem. My 2 year old loved playing in the snow and watching the other skiers go by. It was such a wonderful vacation I actually cannot wait to go back. We are going to try to make Crescendo a destination for our growing family and friends on a regular basis. Thank you Crescendo!

Thanks Jordanna for the great review. You're kids are going to love Crescendo when you're up next. We just got a couple more sleds for the kids to use, and also added a little kids GT Racer snowmobile-scooter. So cute! As always, if there is anything we can do to make Crescendo even that much more special for you all, please let me know. Dr. Mitch
