Lora’s Cottage is second house from the beach in the heart of Birch Bay. She has her own private beach for beach fires plus she's only 120 feet from miles of unobstructed beach to walk, bike and beachcomb.
The cottage is full of original 1930’s charm and has been fully renovated for today’s lifestyle. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a full size microwave, a retro green Kitchenaid stand mixer and a coffee grinder. Or guests can easily walk to Bay Cafe, the "C" Shop or walk the other direction for several more restaurants and cafe's. Lora's Cottage is located in the heart of Birch Bay in a small neighborhood with narrow lanes and mostly vacation and holiday homes. Traffic is minimal, there is a bus that runs along the beach which would take you either to Bellingham or Blaine or drop you off at the Market or Waterslides in Birch Bay. Parking is ample and off street. Near our home, there is crabbing, clamming, golfing (rated 7th in the nation), mini golf, a beautiful state park a mile away, kayak rentals and bike rentals. What gives Birch Bay its claim to fame amongst local tourists is the large sandy tide flat which heats up in the sun, giving us the warmest waters of the Pacific Northwest. We also boast more sunshine than most other Northwest Pacific Coast areas. There are eagles that perch within easy view of the cottage and the bay is full of birds, especially in winter. It's an audubon birding area. You can easily go whale watching with a charter and Vancouver and Victoria are great day trips. For our Canadian guests, we are a great place to stay and relax at the end of your shopping day. Bellingham and Lynden are wonderful places to visit and the county is a rich agricultural area. Eating local is promoted, so you can imagine we have restaurants and markets, even our supermarkets, featuring local products, from wine and cheese to seafood, vegetables and berries and more.
