Fred Thomas Resort is located on a private peaceful wooded point of land over looking the main part of Big Lake Chetac and Thomas Bay. A true feeling of the northwoods surrounds this area with abundant forrest land. A short 5 minute drive will find you in the village of Birchwood which has a small grocery store, two convenience stores, eating establishments, gift shops, beauty shops, bank, hardware store, and lumber yard. A few more minutes and you can be golfing at Tagalong on Red Cedar Lake.

  I have stayed here 2 times, both times with 4 other people. This home is perfect for families as it has an upstairs bedroom that can be easily closed off from the lower level. I was upstairs both times an awoke to a beautiful lake view. The kitchen had all the needed amenities and a picture window, so our meals were enjoyed with a view of the lake. There were 2 bathrooms so we all had plenty of space. The home was meticulously maintained as was the entire resort. A definite plus for the resort was the fish cleaning service. The grounds were well kept, flower gardens were in bloom and the pontoon boat well maintained. It was nice to have supplies such as milk and bait available at the resort. This home is very close to the lake for easy access to the boats and the dock.It is a very family oriented resort and one with a long history. It was a very relaxing trip but much too short.
