Fred Thomas Resort is located on a private peaceful wooded point of land over looking the main part of Big Lake Chetac and Thomas Bay. A true feeling of the northwoods surrounds this area with abundant forrest land. A short 5 minute drive will find you in the village of Birchwood which has a small grocery store, two convenience stores, eating establishments, gift shops, beauty shops, bank, hardware store, and lumber yard. A few more minutes and you can be golfing at Tagalong on Red Cedar Lake.

  Fred Thomas is a great place to get away to. We've been going for almost 30 years and my wifes grandparents started going there in the 1940's and the family has continued since. The cottage is in a fantastic location, close to the swimming area and near all the activity, yet peaceful. The resort provides all the basic amenities to make ones visit very restful. The facilities are very well kept, their expression of "Perpetually New" is not an empty statement but rather a mission statement.
  We go to Fred Thomas every year and look forward to seeing our family as well as all the other families that we've gotten to know over the years. The fact that numerous generations of families come every year for years is a true testament to how loved the resort is.
  If you're looking for a beautiful, peaceful place to unwind this is it. I can't imagine anyone not being able to find something to do here. There's swimming, fishing, boats to take around the lake, places to sit out and read, a fire pit to gather around with friends and family, a playground, various ground games, the lodge with books and puzzles, exercise room, game room the list just goes on.
  This place is just awesome. I do have some reservation about telling too many people about this little bit of heaven in the Northwoods because I still want to be able to stay there, but it's just too good to not let others know. You've got to try it, you'll be amazed and pleased.
