This common area gives a feeling of privacy even while sitting on the deck enjoying an afternoon cocktail or barbecue. It's a short walk from our cabin to see the ducks in Aspen Lake. There are three bedrooms and two baths in a living space of 1,175 square feet plus 412 square feet of deck, with propane barbecue and picnic table. There is a double-height ceiling over the living-dining-kitchen area. The loft bedroom has a double bed and a bathroom with stall shower. Lake OswegoCozy and wonderful location

Aspen 8 is a great little cabin. It has a nice size deck with a very quiet view of the woods around aspen lake. I love how close it is to the lake without being right on the path! The Morrises are great owners and very fast and helpful in their communications.
This cabin is simple but well equipped. Our family of eight has stayed here 3 years now and we look forward to our next visit. Black Butte is so special to us we have been coming to the ranch almost every year since it opened!!;) so peaceful and so much for everyone to do and aspen Lake is my favorite area to stay. Thank you John and Gretchen for being such great hosts! -

Only my wife and I went, though there is room for 8. The price was still reasonable. We were there for hot august days, but the cabin stayed nice and cool if you captured the night air and then closed the windows. The kitchen was fully equipped, and the grill is better than mine. The view from the deck and master bedroom is totally private (we saw no one except for a family of deer). Black Butte is such a wonderful place, and this cabin is a great way to enjoy it!

Beaverton, ORA memory our family will never forget
Left on 06/08/2012 for a stay in May 2012
The experience of renting aH8 was flawless. J & G answered all of our bazillion questions promptly (we rented on short notice). They provided all of the information we needed in the mail or placed conveniently in the house.
While we stayed there we enjoyed barbeques on the deck, photographing the deer walking by the house, bike riding, relaxing in the Jacuzzi, making puzzles, preparing food in the kitchen, looking like we didn't know what we were doing on the driving range, disc golf, walking/hiking, photographing each other at the nearby pond and enjoying great conversations.
J & G had thought of everything. Instructions were clear and placed where we would need them. Starting up and shutting down the house was straight forward. The cable TV and WiFi worked great.
Creating family vacations where everyone has something to do and enjoys themselves are hard to do. Ah8 was a rare find that exceeded our expectations and gave us all a memory we will not forget. -

Danville, CaCozy and Comfortable Getaway House on Black Butte Ranch
Left on 12/31/2011 for a stay in December 2011
Aspen House 8 was the perfect place for our family of four (2 parents and 2 teens). It was ideally situated a short bike ride away from the Glaze Meadow Recreation Complex (yoga, pool, hot tub, spa, newspapers)and near a network of paved hiking/biking trails that encircled quaint aspen Lake and led to the Big Meadow where the magic of Black Butte Ranch unfolds with stunning views of the Three Sisters, Washington, Three-fingered Jack, Jefferson and Black Butte. Oregon blessed us with monsoon rains for two out of the six days of our stay here so we had plenty of time to enjoy the spacious living room and several toasty fires in the woodstove. The kitchen, though a tad small, was well equipped with working appliances and just about any kitchen gadget one might need. We easily served six guests and the four of us for dinner one night. John and Gretchen Morris were excellent renters. They responded quickly to emails and promptly provided us with the rental agreement, instructions for the amenities in the house and information aboutactivities on the Ranch. The entire rental process was the most seamless we have experienced from online rental websites. We highly recommend this house to others venturing to the Ranch. We will rent from the Morris's again in a heartbeat the next time our extended family gathers at Black Butte.

Springfield, Oregon, and Spokane, WashingtonIt was a teary farewell when we left.

Communication with the Morris's was exceptional -- I appreciated their detailed instructions and cordial responses to all my questions. Was eager to show my friend Black Butte and found aspen House 8 was the perfect house for two very old friends to relax, turn on the music maybe a little louder than at home, sit on the deck with our feet up, and sleep very comfortably in great beds. The kitchen is small but is open out to the living room and has every possible utensil, pan, dish, wine glass, and small appliance anyone would need for three days. The barbeque was a breeze to use(especially for two people not used to barbequing or having to replace the gas tank deal) and turned out some spectacular meals. There were bicycles available and the terrain was accommodating to us "older more mature" guests. Always a wonderful breeze through the house, soft towels, plenty of closet space, Wi-Fi available, and ample seating at the dining table. Maybe I could make one suggestion ... there is a chair in the living room that needs a new cushion. Otherwise, I thank the Morris's for making available aspen House 8 which provided us a divine and most comfortable long weekend at Black Butte.

The aspen House is a wonderfully equipped cabin that is well-located in Central Oregon. A great place whether you plan to spend the entire time in the cabin, or as little time as needed between adventures. My group has been staying here every year for a group retreat, and hope to keep coming back in the future. The hosts are well organized and responsive, and the cabin has everything we've ever needed.

We stayed at aspen house 8 July 2010 as part of a family reunion. We all gathered at Black Butte Ranch and it is a wonderful place to stay especially with kids. The house was comfortable with everything we needed for our week stay. The Morris' were great to work with and we loved the setting of the house as we saw lots of wildlife daily. We hope to return again to Black Butte Ranch and stay at aspen House 8.

We stayed at aH8 for an extended weekend with friends. The cabin was very comfortable and Black Butte Ranch is a great location for family fun! There is a wonderful trail system throughout the ranch. We walked to the swimming pool and the playground every day.
The cabin has a full kitchen, or you are just a short drive from the quaint town of Sisters. Everything you need is nearby, but you still have the sense of being away from it all. We will definitely return.
