Salem, OregonPerfect Thanksgiving
Left on 12/18/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My small family and I decided at the last minute to take the week of thanksgiving off this year and choose Black Butte as it was close to home but neither my husband nor I had stayed there before butit was so great it will definately not our last! The cabin was great! Very cozy, warm,quiet.. the update kitchen was wonderful to cook my thanksgiving dinner in! We even had a group of turkey's walk across the road right in front of the cabin! Can't wait to go back next year!

Was a nice size for our family but beds were terrible. Layout of cabin was perfect and new finishes were nice but sleeping in this cabin was less than ideal. My back was killing me!

Portland, ORGreat location and a great weekend.
Left on 09/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Check in was quick and easy, the house was very clean with an abundance of different cooking and eating utensils, the central location on the grounds made it quick and easy to get around the ranch, and the constant shade throughout the day made the house stay at a reasonable temperature. I do wish they had fans in this house to help with air flow, or some kind of small air conditioning unit in the living room, but other than that it was a wonderful stay.

Portland ORWe had a wonderful time--good service from the BB rental office-

We had a great family reunion in what was a perfect spot--three cabins on the same dead end street. Privacy, but close to each other, safe for the children to ride bikes and scooters, convenient for visiting back and forth. The cabin was great, but the upstairs toilet didn't work too well (used the plunger many times)and there could have been a better mattress and mattress pad on the bed. The kitchen was well equipped, and the whole house (all 3 of them) was very clean. Everyone was happy with the accomodations.

KirklandA perfect vacation!
Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012
It had been a few years since our last visit and everything felt new again. The cabin was in perfect condition, the air was clean, the temp was perfect, the breeze was refreshing and the combination of recreation and rest was a perfect balance. We shall return!

The Beachy Family
West Linn, OregonA spur of the moment getaway
Left on 08/10/2011 for a stay in July 2011
After a rainy start to the summer, we were in need of some sunshine. On the spur of the moment we called Black Butte Ranch to see if there was a cabin available for a few days. A ridge cabin fit the bill, and our stay was short but very enjoyable--and full of summer sunshine! Thank you, Black Butte Ranch!

Beaverton OregonWe loved the cabin and our time at Black Butte.

My husband and I stayed in your cabin and loved the space. Since it was just the two of us it was way more space then we needed, but we loved the lay out and would consider bringing our family sometime. We did think the cleaning expense was a bit high since we only stayed a couple nights and didn't use all the bedrooms or bathrooms.

portland oregonNot a good value for your money
Left on 08/17/2009 for a stay in May 2008
This home is way over priced for the age, condition, size etc. We rent homes every year in Sunriver for a week and find that their homes are less expensive and larger more updated well kept homes.

We seem to have some billing disagreement, which I hope we can resolve. I offered to pay my entire bill -- minus my earlier deposit -- on the first day of our stay, was given the amount, put it on my Discover card, only to find today that BBR charged me an extra $131.20. Upon talking to Ashley, she seemed to waffle between a cleaning fee and taxes that had not been paid. I pointed out that after staying with you for many years, this was the first irregularity with a bill. It does not seem customary that you forget to include taxes when establishing a bill for a customer -- I presume that would also violate State Law? Casey was very helpful when we had some water leak in the Ridge Cabin, and relocated us into a bigger cabin close by and rebated the first night for our inconvenience, assuring us that we would be charged the same amount for the bigger cabin. However, upon my call today about the additional charge of $131.20 on my bill -- simply charged to my Discover Card without any notification from BBR! -- I could not a clear answer from Ashley what this was for, either cleaning or taxes? I am not happy with that kind of treatment, especially after having been called a "valued customer" by you for what I presume all our many stays at the Ranch.

Los Angeles, CAMe and My Sons: Their Safety and Fun
Left on 08/16/2009 for a stay in June 2009
When I told my sons (ages 11 and 14)that my work was taking me to Oregon, my younger son rolled his eyes and said "Oregon Mom?!" I remarked that my next trip was Fresno, to which he replied, "You're really trying to make Oregon look good."
Well, luckily Black Butte Ranch was suggested as a place to stay for the sake of the boys and so I booked it. I will admit that I thought it was more than I wanted to spend. Then we drove onto the property and felt like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and had just crossed into a colorful world.
My younger, city slicker's first words - and I kid you not - were "I can't wait to get married, have a family and take them to Black Butte Ranch." It was such a thrill for this LA Mom to see my children enjoy nature and natural beauty as much as they did. There was no time or interest for their iTouch, PSP, or texting.
On the day I went into Medford to give my presentation, I left my son's alone on the grounds and they had a blast. With lifeguards at every pool, police and fire stations, and the fantastic staff at Black Butte, my son's were as safe as if I were there with them. Next time, I will set up bike rentals and tennis and gold lessons to offer them more options. However, the miles of beautiful and interesting trails, the pool, the sports grounds, and the wonderful staff kept them occupied outside all day long!!!
No doubt, I have recommended Black Butte repeatedly to many families, one of which has already booked. While I was describing it to a friend I met at the dentist's office, another lady sitting in the waitng room asked me to repeat the name so she can check it out for a family vacation as well!
Can you tell - I loved our stay at the Black Butte Ranch Resort. Too much money? Not when you consider the pure, natural and constant joy, fun and assortment of activities it offers. Above all else, my sons were safe and outdoors all day long. I didn't think I could ride a bike as many miles as I did! Thank you
