      There's no place like home!

Left on 02/16/2012 for a stay in February 2012

This was definitely home for me, my family and friends. We stayed a week and wish it had been longer. This rental has everything you’ll need for a spectacular stay in the mountains. The owners are available any time of day, but honestly we never needed anything. The town is small but it has everything you will need. The grocery store is just down the mountain along with all kinds of little shops and restaurants.
The home itself is filled with a dozen things to do! There were little kids with us and they were so excited about the bunk bed room! They even found some toys in the closet, which of course made them (and us) smile. There is plenty of room to sleep and hang out. Each room is very comfortable and clean. The mattresses are comfy and all the linens were clean. Plus there’s a washer and dryer in the home, which was very handy. The master bedroom is beautiful. The kiddies loved the Jacuzzi tub! Just remember that the master bedroom is a loft and just above the living room. So you will know when everyone else in your party is awake if you’re sleeping up there. The kitchen had anything you would need to cook with. We cooked almost every night and never said “Oh they don’t have….” The game room was awesome (pool, ping-pong, Pac-man and Galactica)! The fire place is great to gather around and there was no short supply of fire wood! The outdoor fire-pit a great place for smores and spooky stories! My personal favorite thing was the view from the porch and if you get the chance, makes sure to catch the sunrise coming over the mountains. However, sitting out in the cold under millions of stars in a nice outdoor hot tub is definitely an unforgettable memory!

A beautiful place to stay, lots of interesting things to do near

Left on 12/02/2011 for a stay in November 2011

The home is perfect for family get togethers. There were 9 of us, ages ranged from 12 to 72 and the home offered lots of amenities and things to do for every one of us. We all had such a wonderful time, the owners are very hands on and have thought of everything; we just wish our visit could have been longer. We definitely plan on returning - would love to visit in the Spring or Summer. We have already recommended Highrock Haven to friends. There are several other cabin/homes to rent as well, they are owned by the same people, and all the same quality, yet each has its own individual appeal. There is much to do nearby- the Biltmore Estate is minutes away, great small, artsy towns to visit, and lots of beautiful scenery nearby. Our grandson and his dad went ziplining down a mountain, another member of our group who is an avid fisherman visited one of the top rated trout streams in our country and caught a nice rainbow, the girls found lots of great craft shops to visit, and we all enjoyed the local food.

      Exceeded Expectations

Left on 01/24/2011 for a stay in December 2010

A truly memorable visit with plenty of snow, great food, great hosts, and awesome mountain views. A quiet, secluded setting but without feeling isolated from the rest of the world. Owner was very sensitive to our needs for groceries and helping us up the mountain upon our very snowy arrival. An absolutely spectacular location and modern cabin to enjoy all that western North Carolina has to offer. We will be back!

      The Adventure Vacation

Left on 03/11/2010 for a stay in February 2010

We had a terrific time staying at this cabin! Two families- four adult/7 children
stayed comfortably. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night while it snowed,
sledding in the front yard, taking walks to the creek, and sitting by the fire.
Our last day when we were to leave it snowed so much that we ended up
having to stay another night more than planned. Mike, the owner, did a great
job and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. Bringing
us groceries (since we only had three diapers left!) and wine and more
firewood. He even took the three hours the last day to make sure we made it
down the mountain safely in the snow and ice by hooking our vehicles up to
his chained truck and slowly guiding us down. We would do it again and will
never forget our stay. The cabin was luxurious.

Great time at High Rock Haven

Left on 02/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010

Our 2 families stayed for 4 nights in Feb 2010 at High Rock Haven near Black Mtn, NC.
This house has everything that we go to the mountains for: A true lodge/cabin instead of a "house" along with great views, great location, gameroom, hot tub with a view.
All this & it offers nice flat screen TVs(perfect for watching the winter olympics!)& good wifi for keeping up with those pesky emails.
The location is excellent. It only takes 10 -15 minutes to get to the town of Black Mtn with all its stores, shops, & restaurants. We easily went out for lunch or dinner which is a very nice convenience. Also, there are countless daytrips since Asheville, Biltmore, etc are so close as well.
The access roads to the house are very good. When we went, there was much ice & snow everywhere. 4WD was definitely essential to getting in & out easily in the winter. Other times of the year I don't believe there would be any trouble without 4wd. BTW sledding in front of the house was awesome! Bring your sleds!
The nice surprise about this rental are the owners. We have rented many times from vrbo.com & never expect to meet the owners or have "service". We arrived to find 2 dozen roses & a bottle of wine on the kitchen table. A very nice touch. Also, upon arriving I realized my 4wd was not working. The owner, Mike, who lives on the mountain arrived with tools the next morning & we easily got it fixed. The other vehicle did not have 4wd & couldn't make it back to the main road. Mike stayed with us for hours & even towed our vehicle up the problematic hill with his F350 so we could park it elsewhere. Now that's service! Needless to say, if you come during winter 4wd is essential. However, by the time we left both cars could come & go easily as the ice had melted some.
A few other details: the house is beautiful inside & out. The wrap around front porch is great. The kitchen is well equipped. The gameroom with, pool, ping pong, foosball, TV & Ms Pacman kept us all entertained.

We loved the cabin, it's decor, it's supplies, the ambiance, but the icy road almost
ruined the trip for us. We really should have had 4 wheel drive.

      The Great Christmas Adventure

Left on 01/08/2010 for a stay in December 2009

The Mike and Beverly Roseman are great hosts. They met us at the cabin and were already shoveling the snow off the deck and clearing a path when we found the cabin. The home was spectacular, beautiful and comfortable with everything we needed. We call our visit The Great Christmas Adventure because 2 feet of snow fell the night before we arrived. Some of us were able to hike to the cabin but the cars got stuck. Mike Roseman helped us get the cars unstuck and offered a free stay in a local hotel. We were able to make it to the cabin the second day with enough provisions for one night and by the third day Mike worked to get the rest of the roads and driveway plowed so all our cars made it up to the cabin. All was going extremely well until another storm came in and ice covered the trees weighing them down and the power went out. Even with the power out, the Rosemans came with an extra propane tank for the grill and piles of wood to keep us warm. When we left, the Rosemans helped us chainsaw our way out. What a wild adventure! We will return and am thankful that next time the Rosemans will have a commercial generator ready in case another series of storms comes through. We loved the size and style of the cabin; all ten of us including 4 teenagers had room to spread out and the views and ammenities are first class.

      Thanksgiving Paradise

Left on 12/18/2009 for a stay in November 2009

From beginning to end, our stay at Highrock Haven was fabulous. We chose to stay in Black Mountain due to its central location for our family and its proximity to local attractions. There was a plethora of cabin choices in the area, making our decision more difficult. The fact that Highrock Haven was pet-friendly and had several amenities--a pool table, ping pong table, and hot tub--made it very attractive. The selling point for the property, however, was the Pac-Man machine. My father was a Pac-Man fanatic in college and actually broke his finger playing on the exact machine at Highrock Haven! We had competitions on the machine to see who could obtain the highest score; don't worry, no fingers were broken this time!

Highrock Haven was very clean and attractive. Mr. Roseman was very easy to contact and prompt to respond to our inquires both before and after we booked the property.

I would make one recommendation to anyone staying at Highrock Haven. On a clear day, walk, run, or drive to the end of the main street in the neighborhood. From there, you will see some of the best views in this area. We walked and/or ran there daily, and it was a nice reward for that hard work!

Our family looks forward to our next vacation at Highrock Haven and highly recommends it to anyone considering the area!

      Perfect Mountain Getaway

Left on 12/06/2009 for a stay in November 2009

My family and I were looking for a place to wind down after a busy family reunion in Asheville. Highrock Haven was the perfect place to do that. The property is simply beautiful, and there is ample space for a large group. The master suite in the loft was stunning, with a huge jacuzzi tub and full bathroom with shower. We had several children along for the trip, so the game room was a great area for them to hang out. (I won't lie, the adults spent plenty of hours playing pool too!) The house is the most well-equipped vacation home I've ever stayed in. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking for a large group, there were plenty of towels, and there was enough firewood to keep the fireplace warm all weekend. Since we are a football family, it was also great that the house is equipped with 3 flat screen TVs and the NFL package!

We also really enjoyed the outdoor space of Highrock Haven -- the jacuzzi complete with view, cooking on the gas grill, board games on the porch, and hiking down by the creek. There is a very cute downtown at the base of the mountain with cafes and shops. Also conveniently located just a bit further down the mountain are the supermarket and liquor store so you can stock up for your stay.

Finally, the owners were very gracious hosts. Everything we needed was accounted for, and they even left a nice bottle of cabernet as a welcome gift. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting creature comforts with rustic surroundings. Great vacation!!

Highrock Haven an Amazing place to stay!

Left on 11/30/2009 for a stay in November 2009

Our first impression was true amazement while driving up to the home. Beautiful inside and out. You will feel like your in the lap of luxury yet the space is so inviting and warm. The home is decorated beautifully, you will feel like your in a magazine, The views are spectacular from inside or from the hot tub. The swing was a nice spot to soak up some sun most of the day. We were easily kept occupied with the games, and the game room. Ping pong, pool, pacman. We played wiffle ball on the front lawn, which was a total suprise to have a beautiful lawn on a mountain. There are places to take a walk in the woods, by a pond, on a stream. Black Mountain was only a short distance away, we could usually drive it it in under 10 minutes. There you will find all of the conveniences that you will need, groceries, gas, car wash, down town artsy shops and great restaurants. We liked having this convenience. We were also in a very good proximity to local attractions, we managed to break away from the beautiful home and take two day trips to Chimney Rock and the Biltmore. both worth a visit and less that 20 miles away from the log home. We enjoyed this home immensly and would rent it again. Thank you!

      Great 30th Birthday Weekend!!!

Left on 11/20/2009 for a stay in November 2009

Let me just say this house is beautiful! A group of us stayed at the cabin for a weekend to celebrate my fiance's 30th birthday. It was a great weekend. We had enough room to spread out. The kitchen was great for making meals. The table was big enough to eat together. The hot tub was awesome and it came with a view! The game room was a hit, we all had a turn at Ms. Pacman and got really good at it! The fire place was warm and cozy. The master bedroom was wonderful and the tub was perfect. The only complaint I would have was that the master bedroom was an open loft, but it didn't ruin our weekend that's for sure!!! We plan to make another trip to Asheville soon and will stay with Mike and Beverly again! Thanks for a great weekend!!!
