we stayed here over Thanksgiving to visit with my sister. one night our girls cooked dinner for 10 of us and had no problems as the kitchen had all the necessary cooking supplies. It's a nice spot on the lake.

Everything was great at Lacy Field except for the downstairs bed. Very, Very hard. Like sleeping on concrete. Other than that we had a wonderful time and you all at Greybeard were great to work with.

Spending Thanksgiving in Black Mountain is one of our favorite family traditions. We leave Florida to enjoy cool temps and mountain views. Our family loves Montreat Presbyterian church, Blk Mt restaurants and asheville shopping excursions with our 86 yr old mother and our college aged children. The consensus concerning our 2 wk stay at Lacy Field Cottage was mild disappointment. Although cute, the house wasn't cozy and comfortable. The furniture appears to be flea market finds and offered no comfortable seating. The beds were small and very uncomfortable. The electricity was sketchy causing us to make several daily trips to the breaker box. Thankfully we ate out often because the kitchen was lacking in adequate cookware. The final disappointment was the downstairs bedroom, unusable as a master bedroom because of the prevailing musty odor. Our favorite feature was the large deck overlooking lake Tomahawk! Used and appreciated daily because of the moderate November temperatures. We will continue our tradition of staying in Blk Mt and using Greybeard Rentals but would request a home that offered more comfortable amenities.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We really appreciate honest experiences at our rental homes. We will be passing this information on to the owner and hopefully be able to make some improvements in those areas. It is a great location right there at Lake Tomahawk and Black Mtn is a wonderful little town to explore. We look forward to having you back and am sure we will be able to find you a more fitting vacation home for your needs. Thanks again.

The first house didn't workout and Greybeard was amazing in how quickly they responded. Highly recommend Greybeard and will use them in a aheartbeat.
Just a suggestion--may to inspect houses you rent more often. The first house was not that it was old but that it was dirty from accululation over a period of time. The dowstair bed did not have a mattress cover and as i was watching the mattress cover just trying to bring some cleanliness, the covers did not match the size of the bed. Upstairs bed (twin) had many stains on it so I tried flipping it. Other side was worse and a big whole had been repaired with duct tape. Shower and refrigeraotr and micorwave were simply past their time. Staircase was too dangerous for a four year old and a fire alarm was sitting on the dining table with no batteries in it.
Once agian, Greybeard was wonderful in every aspect of my planning and staying and will not hesitate to use you again. And many thanks for your caring and quick resolution to the first house.
P.S. Pictures on your website for the Lamotte house did not correspond with the house especially the patio area.Response from Greybeard Rentals - 08/24/2011

My whole family enjoyed staying at the Lacy Field Cottage and would love to stay there the next time we visit Black Mountain. We have been coming up from Florida to Black Mountain for many years and enjoy the moutains very much. We are living the Gulf of Mexico and enjoy the beach all the time but it is nice to go to the moutains, too.

Lacy Field Cottage was perfect for our family gathering. We really enjoyed the large deck overlooking the small lake and the mountains to the west. I'd choose it again in any season.

I have been renting in the Black Mountain area for several years, and this home is at the top of my list. The location on Lake Tomahawk is wonderful, with direct access to the terrific walking trail. The only negative (if you can call it that) is that the kitchen was not quite as well-equipped as other units I've rented, but we made out just fine, and most people are not going to be cooking as much as we did anyway. Very light and airy home--skylights in the kitchen and bathroom with an open floor plan in the living area. Very comfortable!! We loved the outside living spaces--the lower level of the house under the deck was wonderful when it rained, with a swing and rocking chairs. Would definitely stay here again.

This is an awesome relaxing cottage. We enjoyed every inch - both decks, skylights, window seats, walking path on the lake = Newly updated bathroom and jacuzzi tub was much appreciated. We did not use the car all weekend as the town was less than 1/2 mile away - could easily walk to shops and restaurants.
