I recently rented this out for one of my friends bachelorette party. This house is beyond beautiful. The kitchen was perfect to cook and entertain in, and the bedrooms worked perfectly for the eight girls that were there. The outdoor screened in porch was so adorable, unfortunately the weekend I rented it, it was super cold and raining. I am planning on renting this again when my family comes in to town, it was perfect!

When we opened the door to Rhododendron Cottage, we were taken aback...taken aback by the great decor of the home, the many things provided for the enjoyment of guests, the wonderful views from the house -- especially in the family room, and the general feeling of "You are Welcome." Add to this the fact that we were close to everything, and you can see why we think our experience was the best.

My family and I have traveled to Black Mountain/Montreat for over 10 years and have rented a different home each time. This is the best home we rented. It was roomy, a great kitchen, close to shopping and dining in Black Mountain, walking distance to Lake Tomahawk, and a great screened in porch. The beds were great--all were very comfortable. The living room with its vaulted ceiling and huge fireplace give this home that great mountain feel.

We stayed at this cottage for a wedding in May.
The Greybeard realty was very helpful and it was easy to get the keys.
The cottage is large, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Large easy to use kitchen, large living room and porch.
It is located close to Black mountain and Lake Tomahawk ( nice walk around the lake).
What we liked least about our stay at the cottage was: the master bed was comfortable, but the other 2 beds need new mattresses, the sheets on one of the beds were flannel ( our stay was in May) they were scratchy. Towels could also use upgrading.
The screened in porch is a nice addition, but its dark and there is only 1 small table lamp. We were also surprised to find that soap was not supplied in the bathrooms, we've rented a lot of vacation homes and bathroom soap and tissue has always been included.Response from Greybeard Rentals - 06/07/2012

Thank you so much for your feedback. As of 6/7/12 the owners have bought new mattresses for the beds and some new bed linens. They have also provided new towels. Our owners are wonderful and really appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to make the house a great experience for everyone.

What a great place. We come to Black Mountain and rent houses all the time and this one is a great one. Just a block from Lake Tomahawk, and minutes from downtown Black Mountain, it's a perfect, serene location. We had two families in this house and from the second we walked in it felt like home. Very nice, very comfortable, everything was thought of here. We had a great thanksgiving. (I'm here right now! ha) The only negative was the wifi would come and go, but whatever, that's no why we were here.

Loved the cottage. Everything was available to us. Enjoyed the pumpkin bread and getting the daily paper. Everything was very clean and beautifully furnished. Our stay was comfortable.
Not as much to do in Black Mountain as we thought there would be. Enjoyed walking around the lake when the weather permitted. The color was magnificent. Liked driving the Bluegrass Hwy.

Would not hesitate to come back again. Only regret wish we could have stayed longer. -

The cottage was really more of a comfortable home. The large screened in porch was the delight of all. We ate all of our meals out there and even had a fire one cool evening.The trail around the lake was great for walking. Very enjoyable week.

Enjoyed this spacious home with double fireplace serving great room and large screened porch. Two family-sized dining tables! Three private bedrooms (split arrangement)each with bathroom. Proximity to lake great for afternoon walks.

we loved our stay at rhododendron cottage. we traveled with my parents and our two young children. the kids loved the house and the adults found it to be a great space -- well-decorated, spacious, well-supplied. we really enjoyed the screened porch.

Rhododendron Cottage was instantly comfortable! We felt at home immediately, and had everything we needed. The living areas were cozy and we loved the huge screened porch! Greybeard was easy to work with and everything went very smoothly. :)

GreyBeard Realty was super helpful in assisting me with choosing the perfect
cabin for my vacation. They always responded quickly and politely to my
emails and made the entire transaction smooth and easy. The house was very
clean and well-kept. We never ran across anything that was broken or in bad
repair. The location was close enough to town to get there fast but far enough
from the center of town that we could look out our windows and see trees and
feel like we were somewhat secluded. We also made it to Biltmore Estate in 20
minutes, which was great! If I HAD to say something negative about our
experience, I'd say that the pillows on the beds were too flat and the shower
curtain upstairs needed to be changed. However, those were easily overlooked
because everything else about the trip was so wonderful. Thank you! -

We were there for the weekend to attend a wedding. The cottage was wonderful, plenty of room and convenient to everything. The layout was great for more than one family. There were my parents, my daughter with her three small children, my sister with two teenagers and my self. With the downstairs bedrooms on opposite sides of the house and one upstairs,there was plenty of privacy for everyone. I would love to go back and spend more time, maybe we would have better weather next time as it rained the whole time we were there. I definitely recommend this cottage.

My sister and I absolutely loved this house as far as the house itself: clean and neat, a wonderful screened in porch, good internet access. However, the beds other than in the master were not good at all. My sister said you could feel the springs, that they were very uncomfortable, and it seemed both the bedrooms other than the master had similar poor quality beds. (I had the master bedroom and it was satisfactory.)
We will not be able to return here only because of the beds. If the mattresses are upgraded, please let us know! We would love to return if the mattresses are replaced. Thanks.Response from Greybeard Rentals - 08/17/2009

It was a quaint "little" cottage but had plenty of sleeping space for 3 families. We loved the large screened porch with fireplace! The cottage is also very convenient to both the lake and town. My only critiscm is there's not enough lighing in the living room.

Lovely home. We enjoyed walking to the lake. It was just minutes from downtown Black Mountain. We appreciated the linens being provided. Very comfortable. We would rent here again and highly recommend it.
