Welcome to our home at the Cool House in the Woods.

Your vacation starts as soon as you pull up to the hand-built stone arch framing the unusual handcrafted wood doorway. Entering into the rustic but contemporary Cool House in the Woods, you’ll find the views of the mountains and woodlands, sounds of the creek and bird songs ease you into your vacation of relaxation. No traffic, no pollution. This is peace and quiet.

Even inside you can still enjoy the views from all the windows of the home. Throughout the house you will find beautiful hardwood floors. The main level of the home offers an open floor design adding to the light,... airy feeling of the stylish, modern kitchen, dining and living area. During cooler weather, the fireplace is situated to be enjoyed while in any of these rooms.

A large wrap around porch also on the main level allows you to take in the beauty of the surrounding environment with your morning coffee, evening cocktail, or perhaps that book you never had time at home to read. At night on the deck, the visibility of the sky is usually so clear you feel you can reach up and touch the stars.

On the top floor of the home, there are three, large bedrooms each with private bath. After getting settled into your room, you may want to take a hike on the 1.5-mile hiking trail along the meandering creek right outside the door. Take along a container of our fresh mountain well water and enjoy!

Surrounded by nature, the house serves as your headquarters as you explore area hiking, fishing, swimming, rock climbing, antique shopping, or simply grabbing a camera for that once in a lifetime shot. There always seems to be a festival or event happening. Partake of numerous festivities: the Lake Eden Music Festival (L.E.A.F), Mountain Sports Festival, The Apple Festival, Bele Chere , Arts and Crafts Fairs, Wine & Food Festivals, Film Festival, Beer City Festival, Pisgah Brewing and the list goes on…and on!

The house has southwest exposure that makes any room light and bright. Allergies?....no carpet in this house! Beautiful hardwood floors throughout. The property borders a creek and plenty of trails to walk and hike.

This house has four master bedrooms each with it's own private on suite. Two bedrooms with King beds and 2 bedrooms with Queen beds. The kitchen boasts Maple cabinets with stainless steel and granite counter tops. Baths all have granite counter tops and IKEA and maple cabinets. The Juliet room has a King size bed, wet bar and private balcony. The West room has a King bed with subway tile tub and shower. The master on the main has a queen bed with sitting area tiled shower and large soaking tub. The Front room has a queen bed with a bright bathroom and tiled shower.

If your choice is shopping or sightseeing, the historic charming town of Black Mountain is just six miles away. Downtown Asheville, Hendersonville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave are not far away.

This property sits on 3 acres but surrounded by acreage. The pasture area below the house could be used for camping next to the creek for those guest parties that have more people then our beds accommodate. The home can be reserved for small wedding parties (additional charge required).Read more

  We rented the house for church retreat. We were so pleased with the excellent facilities in the house and landscape around the house. In every morning, we could see misty fog through the wide window. Location of the house was good too. It took only 20 mins to Chimney Rock. I'd like to recommend every one who is planing retreat or family gathering.

  We were so pleased with the amount of room & rooms there were. You didn't have to worry about being in anyone's way. There were 7 of us at one point & it was still very relaxing. It felt like being at home & not squeezed into a rental.

  Beautiful contemporary and immaculately maintained home. There are 4 unique bedrooms each with its own private bath and an additional half bath off the foyer. Mature trees surround the house and we woke up each day as though we were up in a tree house. The well stocked kitchen is spacious and has plenty of seating and serving space. There are excellent hiking trails around the house and on Black Mountain. The owners are very friendly residents of the area. They are eager to help with directions and advice on local vendors and services. This setting was perfect for 3 generations of family during my son's wedding. It would also be suitable for non-related guests.
