Rock Creek Retreat sits on 2 1/2 acres amidst rhododendron, dogwood, mountain laurel, walnuts, spruce and pine. The Broad River winds its way through the property making a graceful turn just below the house. The relaxing sound of rushing water and a delightful view can be enjoyed right from the comfort of the covered porch. Fishing and splashing are just a few steps away. The local volunteer fire department is located nearby, with EMTs available 24 hours a day.

This place is a wonderful getaway from the heat and hectic pace. The view is terrific and the stream is just down the hill. Nice comfortable furnishings and TV also.
Couldn't be better. Reminds me of a quote from Tao, "Nature never hurries, but it all gets done."

We stayed at this cabin for several days during the Summer and found it to be an exceptionally nice place to stay. Despite it being the middle of summer, the weather at the house was pleasant. The house itself was very clean and well stocked. The river below the house was absolutely beautiful and we even did a little fishing. We'd highly recommend it to others.

This was an incredible experience. Excellent accomodations. Back porch overlooking the river is a great experience. Portable campfire on cool evening in September was a highlight. Great local restaurants within easy driving distance.

My husband and I met our two adult children, my now daughter-in-law, and her parents there for 5 days in March 2010. The accommodations were very comfortable for the 6 of us. There were so many things to do in close proximity to the house including horseback riding, touring the Biltmore in ashville, sightseeing in Lake Lure, hiking Chimney Rock, and bar-hopping through the town of Black Mountain. We also enjoyed just staying at the house, wading in the river and sitting around the big farmhouse table getting to know everyone. If you go, make sure you stop in at the Straight-Away Cafe, a funky, local establishment with live music. I look forward to the day we can return.
