Blackheath Village has a wonderful eclectic selection of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, antique shops and homewares shops. Many of Blackheath's cafes offer a lovely breakfast and some of the restaurants are simply awesome, our favourite is Ashcrofts.

There are two small supermarkets in Blackheath, 2 pubs and 2 petrol garages. Blackheath Golf Course is simply the most picturesque course in the mountains.

Govetts Leap Lookout and Evans Lookout are stunning and simply must not be missed and Govetts Leap Lookout is the starting point for some of the very best walks to be enjoyed in the mountains. There is a NSW Parks Information Centre in Blackheath for further information

      Fantastic weekend away!

Left on 03/18/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Our terrific experience with the Lavender Manor started well before we arrived for our weekend. Nicky, the manager, was wonderful and helpful. The booking process was very easy. It's not always easy organising group holidays (it was a girls weekend for six) and Nicky was very helpful with prices for various numbers of guests to help us make decisions, and she didn't seem to mind when I emailed her to ask various questions about the manor and the area. Her customer service skills are exceptional!

The gardens are lovely. The rooms are spacious and the property was extremely clean. It has an older style country kitchen including dishwasher. The decor is what you'd expect from a country manor, with lots of floral prints and older (but well maintained) wooden furniture. The ample couches (comfortably seating 8 adults spaciously) were soft and comfy and the dining table (also an 8 seater) was large and functional. The living area was very large. Bathrooms were again what you'd expect regarding country style. There was nothing fancy about them but they were spotless.

We weren't travelling with children but we are all mothers so we couldn't help notice all the kids stuff everywhere. In one cupboard in a bedroom was an abundance of kids toys and games, plus a number of mini couches for the kids. There was a small amount of toddler play equipment outside, near a large outdoor setting in the lush garden. There was also at least one highchair that we saw.

There is a day spa at the back of the manor and if you want, professional massage therapists or beauticians can come in and give you massages and facials etc. We didn't indulge so I can't comment on what they are like, but we peaked through the window at the spa and it looked very nice.

The location is good, in a relatively quiet street, even though there is a tourist attraction at the end of the street (the picturesque Evans Lookout). The town is not far away either (3 minute drive).

Blackheath is quaint but you won't need to spend a lot of time there. It's very close to drive to Katoomba and Leura. If you want to eat out in Blackheath, I suggest you book well in advance, particularly if you are going over a weekend. We had trouble with the restaurant we booked (Vulcans... they were not the friendliest people to deal with to say the least), and felt we needed to cancel the restaurant booking the day before due to a specific dietary requirement that couldn't be catered for. We then found we couldn't book anywhere else. It didn't bother us, we had a lovely evening dining in at the manor, but if you really want to eat out, organise it well in advance and don't change your mind (and I'd suggest giving Vulcans a massively wide berth unless you want to be hung up on like I was, but that's a whole other story!).

Oh, I can't forget the open fire. Everything you needed was there from twigs to kindling to fresh cut logs. It really created a beautiful ambience for us and we even toasted a few marshmallows!

The Lavender Manor was a lovely experience for us from start to end, and Nicky is most of the reason why. She manages and maintains the property well, and is so lovely and easy to deal with. We've never met her but we felt like we should have invited her to join us by the end!! It's a big, beautiful and cosy country house and a great venue for a girls weekend, family holiday or even a holiday with a couple of families together. I'd highly recommend it as a holiday rental.

      Hi Kim
Thanks for your lovely review - wonderfully detailed for future guests to use, and such lovely compliments about little me ! We fixed your creaky bed straight after your stay - thanks for telling us about that. We hope you'll stay again soon and treat yourselves to some massages this time - they really are heavenly even if I do say so myself. Posting some photos of a beautiful new store in Blackheath on our Facebook Page tonight so make sure you check it out. Maybe we can tempt you to stay at Lavender Majestic next time so we can pamper you even more....take care x

Lavender Manor is a great place to stay with your friends or your family. The Manor is always lovely and clean and well maintained. Fresh towels and comfortable beds - the works. The kitchen is always left with lovely breakfast items for your stay. You can eat at the Manor or go out to a choice of restaurants not too far from the Manor. Across the road is a beautiful Golf Coarse for the Golf fans or you can enjoy a massage or a facial in the treatment rooms just out the back of the house - treat yourself and relax, life is to be enjoyed and not just to dream. I love this place that's why I keep going back
