Perth, AustraliaFaultless accommodation in gorgeous rural Perthshire
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
So often it is hard to judge holiday accommodation from online representations but Pictillum exceeded all our expectations!
On our visit from australia to see my 4 year old son's Scottish granny, we booked Pictillum for 3 weeks and it has to be the best holiday home we have ever rented.
Spotlessly clean and superbly equipped (everything for the kitchen and wifi for husband to keep in touch with the office, we wanted for nothing.) loved the aGa!! Lovely comfy bed with clean, crisp linen changed once a week for us. Wonderful child-friendly touches (toy box, dvd's, bath toys, "playhouse" beneath the stairs, kids cutlery).
Granny had her double room and bathroom downstairs and we had upstairs, so room enough for us to escape each other if the need arose! Lovely view from the bedroom of the cows in the field.
Fantastic hosts; always available. My son was in tractor heaven as it was harvesting time & even scored a ride on one which was a highlight. Lovely walks to be had nearby.
Visited Dundee more than Perth, but both only about 30 mins to get to. Wonderful day out in Broughty Ferry (Castle Green playpark is great for kids; Broughty Castle and lovely lunch at the Fisherman's Tavern.)
Active Kids playpark in Stanley not far from Pictillum was a big hit. Muddy Boots farm in Cupar (after a bit of shopping in Dundee) great for kids too with an indoor and outdoor play area and the hugest cappucino's for mom & granny. Lovely play area at Glamis Castle for kids too.
Tesco in Blairgowrie a 15 min drive for supplies. Small Spar in Meigle too. Lovely choc cake & coffee at the Joinery Cafe in Meigle. Also visited auchingarrich Wildlife Park (found it rather pricey, so plan to make a good half day of it.)
All in all, something for the young & old and just a wonderful family holiday. If we lived closer (!) wouldn't hesitate to return and would recommend without reservation (and know I did not know the owners prior to this visit!!)

PaisleyFabulous Property in Stunning Surroundings
Left on 08/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We spent an absolutely glorious week in this very comfortable, well equipped property. The location is stunning and we were extremely lucky with the weather. The barn is very spacious and meant that our three generations of the one family had plenty of space to spread out and "do our own thing" without getting on top of one another.
Our two teenagers made very good use of the games room and played many hours of table tennis. We didn't get round to using the party sized barbeque as we were too busy enjoying the novelty of cooking with the aga. This is an added bonus as it kept the barn very warm and cosy - not that we needed it as we had to keep the doors and windows open most of the time due to the unexpectedly hot spell while we were there, however I imagine if you were to stay outwith the summer season, you would be very cosy indeed.
We did venture out occasionally to visit Blairgowrie, Glamis, Forfar and Pitlochry and the boys had a most enjoyable round of golf at Blairgowrie - they said it was one of the nicest courses they have ever played. We also enjoyed an evening meal at the nearby Strathmore Golf Club which you can see from the house. This was excellent - very large portions and good value. It would be advisable to book though as it was extremely busy for a week night. Obviously very popular.
The booking process was very efficient. Bec answered all e-mails very quickly and Marc met us on arrival and showed us how everything worked. We really appreciated the welcome pack and very much enjoyed the homemade lemon drizzle cake.
Our stay at Pictillum had the desired effect and we all came home suitably chilled out and relaxed. Hopefully we'll be able to come back again and enjoy this unique property. Thank you Bec and Mark.Response from Bec Barron - 08/25/2012

Pictillum sits on it's own amidst fields in a lovely part of Perthshire. We stayed here for a week with the family and all loved the unusual nature of the house, the wonderful communal spaces and the many windows on the world outside. Well-equipped, nice welcome pack, very private.
We had a family sports day outside and appreciated the space and the privacy. Even the mostly dull weather and a little rain couldn't spoil this. The lawn and the garden furniture not much used but would no doubt be brilliant in the sun! -

We stayed at Pictillum last summer for a family holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The house itself is very well presented and modern with excellent facilities. It has absolutley stunning views of the surrounding countryside showcased through the breathtaking floor to ceiling window in the kitchen/dining area.
We were met with a very warm welcome on arrival by the owners and the fact that they live locally was very reassuring.
The location is perfect for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities or wants a quiet getaway. We went on numerous walks, bike rides and also a round of golf at the local course. Would highly recommend to anyone and we'll certainly look to stay here again for the ski season.
