Owners Eileen and Oliver were very helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. Facilities in the house explained clearly on arrival and the lemon drizzle cake Eileen had baked for us, as a welcome gift, was superb. The house was spotlessly clean, beautifully laid out with every possible electrical aid. The heating was more than adequate to keep us warm, radiators (in every room) and a log burner. Plenty of towels and bedding provided, including a change mid stay when different guests arrived. The location was incredibly peaceful and relaxing with plenty of walks directly from the house.

SouthportA stylish and comfortable cottage in a beautiful and tranquil lo
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My wife and I took our four young daughters to Freuchies Mill for an Easter break. Eileen & Oliver were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, with thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers on the kitchen table and a box of lovely, homemade brownie (scoring highly with the kids!).
The cottage was stylish and smart but also very cosy and homely, important during the sunny but cold weather in early april. It was delightful to come 'home' after a day's walking and sledging to cook a meal in the immaculate and well-equipped kitchen. Then relax in the lounge, with its picture window looking out over the garden, fields and hills beyond, let the kids toast marshmallows by the log-burner and watch the birds, red squirrels and occasional deer come by.
Don't come here if you like hustle and bustle and the noise of the city because it is remote. But that was just what we were looking for - we loved the peace and tranquility, the wildlife and the walks available direct from your front door. We hope to be back soon.Response from Mr Oliver Wright & Mrs Eileen Bridgwater - 04/23/2013

Oliver and Eileen are just superb hosts! Their cottage that we rented for Christmas 2008 and 2011 was just magnificent - enough space and we thoroughly enjoyed the large kitchen - warm and cosy and a good place to sit and have a chat whilst preparing sumptuous meals from meat and other products sourced from local little villages. I would definitely go back - Dundee, Blairgowrie, Pitlochry, Arbroath, Perth, Cairngorms - all close by. Day trips out not a problem - lovely pub close by! See you soon Oliver and Eileen!

This cottage is a proper 'home from home' experience, it is meticulosly clean and the most well equiped holiday rental that we have stayed at by far! The rooms are both spacious, well appointed with the most beautiful views across the glen. In the garden Roe Deer and pheasent wander freely not to mention the many birds that frequent the bird feeders.
Eileen and Oliver are both very friendly and welcoming, and Eileen's stem ginger loaf was a welcome treat!
We especially liked having our coffee in the conservatory in the morning where we could watch the wildlife, and the wood burning stove in the lounge was so cosy as we had a heavy snowfall the weekend we stayed.
Glen isla itself is fairly central for travelling to Blairgowrie,Pitlochry and other areas, with lots of beautiful walks within the area.
We enjoyed it so much that we can't wait to go back!Response from Mr Oliver Wright & Mrs Eileen Bridgwater - 02/15/2013

Myself and 6 triker friends had the most wonderful stay at Freuchies Mill. The accommodation was beautiful and spotless.Oliver and Eileen were so accommodating and helpful. Oliver even gave up his workshop so that we could garage our trikes from the small amount of rain that we had.
The setting was fantastic with excellent links in all directions for touring and seeing the beautiful scenery of Tayside, Angus and Perthshire.
We can also recommend the wonderful Balmoral Chicken and Sticky Toffee pudding that was prepared by Eileen and Oliver.
All in all, a wonderful experience which we hope to repeat. the access road to the mill is lovely and smooth having just been resurfaced.
once again Oliver and Eileen, thanks very much for everything from all the trikers. -

We were given a warm welcome by Eileen who showed us round the accomodation and gave a very good explanation of all the facilities. (Something you don't often get.)
The Mill is by far the best equipped self-catering establishment we have found, in this country or abroad.
The standard of cleanliness is second to none and it is extremely comfortable.
It is an idyllic spot for a quiet relaxing retreat but close enough to many places of interest.
We spent five days there and could find no fault with it.
We will definitely return in the future and will gladly recommend it to our friends.

We stayed in the Mill for 1 week. It was immaculate, it had everything you could want and need. The location was amazing. A real get away from it all, but yet only half an hour away from a major city. Can't wait to go again.
Thank you Eileen & Oliver -

The Freuchies Mill was a perfect holiday spot for our family just one hour's drive north of Perth. With scenic countryside all around, the location really provides a level of peace and tranquility that breeds relaxation. Our family of seven was accommodated nicely in this three-bedroom cottage. The layout of the kitchen and dining area was perfect for family meals and table games.
Only two years old, the cottage has all the modern conveniences we'd look for in a holiday rental. The only thing lacking was an easy internet connection, but even that was resolved by our gracious hosts, Oliver and Eileen. They were very attentive to our needs and always quick to come to our aid on anything from an oven light to hiking recommendations.
We had such a great time, that came back for a second week's holiday in august that was every bit as nice as the first!
Great place for a family. Great place to relax. Great base for day trips to alot of Scotland. -

We take many holidays in the UK, with and without children and the self catering mill at West Freuchies is the best we've ever stayed in. The accoommodation is extremely spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Its not often you get a 2nd bathroom and a garden room for this price. We enjoyed it so much we booked again for the same week before leaving and I've just returned from 4 nights with my 89 year old mum at Oliver & Eileens adjoining B&B; which was equally wonderfull.

We rented the Mill for a week with four other adults (making a grand total of six).
The reception by Eileen and Oliver was enthusiastic and friendly making the long drive all the more rewarding.
The Mill is beautifully furnished and laid out, the kitchen with the large dining table was a great gathering point!
Upstairs the three large double bedrooms were really comfortable and cosy ensuring a great nights sleep!
The local area is beautiful, the peace and quiet a real tonic with plenty of easy walks (even for the likes of me!) but there are plenty of 'hills' for the more adventurous.
The 'Best' bit of the holiday was the arrival, the 'Worst' was the departure - we will return! -

If you want a peaceful and relaxing break in a beautiful part of Scotland, Freuchies Mill is a good choice of holiday accommodation. The mill is spacious, very comfortable and well equipped and set in beautiful, well-maintained grounds.
We particularly enjoyed seeing the wildlife in the garden (the front room has a picture window - perfect for bird watching) and also saw rabbits exploring the garden each morning and night.
The service we received was very good including having the option of having twin or double rooms in two of the bedrooms. It was also a lovely touch to start our holiday with a plate of walnut cake, thank you, it was lovely. The mill has a high standard of cleanliness, including kitchen equipment and utensils so it was a pleasure to cook in the evening.

Welcomed to a homely and comfortable accomodation and was immediately made to feel relaxed. The suroundings, contryside, locaton and accomodation were stunning. Beauty, peace and quiet, tranquility, authenticity are just some of the words that come to mind to describe my experience. A real 'home from home' with everything needed to make a relaxed and stress free experience. I felt as if I had known my hosts for a long time and they were most helpful and eager to make my stay a happy one. I have nothing at all to say that would improve on perfection!

Eileen and Oliver welcomed us all like family members and gave us a guided tour of the amenities within Freuchies Mill. We were all very impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout. The accommodation is spacious and benefits from quality fittings. With our party of 6 adults and large dog, it still felt roomy but homely .
Located on the edge of a pine forest with spectacular rural views makes this an ideal location for followers of country or sporting pursuits all year round.
We enjoyed a memorable week to the extent that we have rebooked for another week in 2010. Our only disappointment was the day we had to leave! -

We were delighted to be able to experience the hospitality of Eileen and Oliver, especially to be able to see the old photos of the mill. There has obviously been a lot of work done to get the place to its very high standard. The location was superb for walking directly from the door, with other lovely places a short drive away. The scenery and wildlife were splendid but most of all the Mill felt really welcoming and homely.
