Additional Location Information
Marlborough and especially Blenheim is mostly about wine. Our Sauvignon blanc is known throughout the world, closely followed by our Pinot noir. We now have over 45 wineries so there are more wineries offering tastings than you could visit during a day's wine tasting. The land here is flat so why not hire our bikes and spend a leisurely day cycling to the various wineries tasting our wonderful wines. We also have eight 50cc scooters for hire. Try a scooter for a fun-filled day scooting around the region. Take in the magnificent scenery, visit the 'world-class' aviation museum, visit the wineries that serve delicious lunches and olive oils for tasting.
We are the closest Homestay to Cloudy Bay winery, 2.5 kilometers away and there are plenty of wineries within a 6 kilometer easy bike ride. Scooters make travelling further afield easy - there's plenty to see and do!
Wine tours are available should you wish to sit back and relax while you tour the wineries.

If this place is within your budget, I would highly recommend staying here. Paulette and John are wonderful hosts and know the area intimately for advice on what to do and where to go. We were two couples staying for two nights and had all our needs cared for.
The house and gardens are splendid, comfortable and immaculately clean and manicured. Paulette's finer touches around the home make it beautiful and homely, while John's domain is the garden (the 500 bulbs he has to plant will make spring a delight). The breakfast spread was fantastic and are happy to provide other meals as an extra ( you may be lucky enough to try john's wild pork stew).
My only gripe was we didn't have longer to stay and just relax around the property. -

We received a warm and friendly welcome during our brief stay. The home is a beautifully stylish and contemporary property in a style we really liked.
Paulette and John were first class hosts and made us welcome as if we lifelong friends and the standard of the facilities were first class, from the accommodation to the breakfast , with plenty of advice as to local restaurants and other things to enjoy or experience. -

A lovely house and delightful garden set amid the vineyards. Paulette and John made us so welcome and our room was 5 star comfort. Fresh raspberries from the garden accompanied the delicious breakfast. It's a great location to visit the vineyards and John was very helpful with ones to visit and local restaurants. We'll go back again if we are in the area.

You can't beat this place. Paulette and John are the best hosts you could ever imagine. The location is ideal in middle of the Marlborough wine region and many wineries can easily be reached by walking.

I can't thank John and Paulette enough for being such gracious hosts. Our stay at Stonehaven was a highlight of our visit to New Zealand. Our room was very comfortable and the house and grounds surrounded by vineyards is absolutely beautiful. I'm a foodie and I was most impressed with the dinner Paulette prepared. Visting John's wine cellar to choose wine for the meal was a special treat. Breakfast was incredible too. We have highly recommended Stonehaven to friends.

It is difficult, if not impossible, to think of anywhere more delightful to stay while visiting the beautiful Marlborough area of New Zealand than the Stonehaven Homestay.
Luxury accommodation, charming hosts and mouth-watering food add up to a potent combination that ensures a wonderful and memorable experience. -

There was one problem with three nights at the Stonehaven Homestay - it wasn't long enough. Our travelling friends had been before and we soon discovered why they had been so anxious to go again and to take us to stay there. Frankly, we were spoiled from the moment we left our superbly appointed room - which meant tearing ourselves away from the stunning views across the vineyards to the mountains - to take breakfast by the pool. Then it was a matter of deciding what we wanted for dinner, diving down to the cellar to choose the wine, and then having a glorious day out knowing what culinary pleasures awaited us when we got back. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Don't think about going there - book it!

There are places in the world that one would choose to forget and then there are places that have a special place in your heart and Stonehaven is top of our list for those special memories. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you feel special. From the perfect location in some of the world's finest vineyards; to Paulette & John's welcome to the comfort of their home; to Paulette's 'cordon bleu' cooking, to John's excellent wine cellar and his world famous rhuburb(!) - one lacks for nothing. This was our third stay and we are returning yet again in late October 2011. Our destination in New Zealand is about as far south as you can get, but no visit is complete without a few days at Stonehaven. A visit to Paulette & John is an intrinsic part of our holiday and we look forward to staying with them as much as with our other friends and relatives in South Island.

We stayed with John&Paulette; for the second time and it was abolut fantastic again! Stonehaven is really the most beautiful place we have ever been to. Not only because of the wonderful garden, the lovely decorated rooms and the superb location- beyond that John&Paulette; are so caring and make you feel like a real family member. It was hard to leave again- but we will be back for sure!

We stayed three nights at Stonehaven and on arrival were made immediately at home. The owners share their home making you very welcome and are a mind of information on the area. The house is immaculate with bedrooms equiped with a first class en suite bathroom, television and tea and coffee making facilities.
We were offered dinner on two of the nights and John the owner asked if we would like to purchase a bottle of wine. His wine cellar would make many supermarkets envious. Again he offered first class advice on a choice to complement the meal. And what a meal was available. I only wished his wife was available to cook all my meals.
The location is ideal for visits to the vineyards and bikes are available for hire from the homestay, we however decided to be taken on a tour and this was organised by the owners.
I feel you would be hard pressed to find better accommodation in New Zealand and would recommend thisaccommodation to anyone.

Charlotte, NCOur highlight overnight stay in New Zealand!
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in April 2011
My husband and I spent 2 nights at Stonehaven in april of this year as a B&B.; John and Paulette welcomed us with open arms and gave great advice about area activities, even helping us make reservations. The home has a perfect location in the middle of the vineyard, just outside of town, and close-by other wineries and the local (and fantastic!) aircraft museum. The grounds are beautiful, and we particularly enjoyed waking up and looking out to the garden and vineyards. The house is very spacious, clean and well-kept. It has a fantastic kitchen, dining and sitting room area with a fireplace perfect for relaxing and talking with friends; a nice backyard sitting room, pool and garden for outdoor time; and plenty of parking. Staying there was like living in our dream house for 2 days! I would definitely recommend staying at Stonehaven if you are looking for a charming, relaxing and truly Kiwi experience!
