After a stormy week and a long weekend of getaways, we’re getting even more snow here in Boston. This is the perfect time of year for a ski trip or a spontaneous escape to the beach. For those of us in between vacations, here’s some food for thought: the vacation rental news for the last week…

• The market for vacation homes is on the rise, reports the Wall Street Journal. Sales are up from Mercer Island, WA to Palm Beach, FL. Hopefully this means more vacation rentals across the country.
• Recent bad weather in Britain has prompted a spell of winter holiday bookings, according to TravelMatch.co.uk. Another recent survey conducted by YouGov shows that in 2011, 59% of British travelers expect to spend the same or more than last year on holidays.
