Hello all, and welcome to Ask FlipKey! This is a new bi-monthly column designed to answer commonly asked questions and offer helpful tips and tricks to maximize your FlipKey property listing. My name is Taryn, and here at FlipKey I am an Owner Services Specialist, so who better to advise you on the ins and outs of successfully navigating the world of online vacation rentals?!

On a daily basis we field a lot of the same questions from owners, asking about everything from Marketing statistics, and Why FlipKey?, to more technical questions like What are some ways to make my listing really pop? With that in mind, this column was born to help answer all of those questions in one central place, and hopefully help you find some useful information about your own listing.

Most importantly, if you don’t see your own questions answered, please ask! I’d love to get feedback and input about the column and your experience with the website in general, as we’re always looking for ways to improve the user experience. This column is all for property owners, and what we here at FlipKey can do to make your experience most fruitful and pleasant.

    • FlipKey properties are all listed on TripAdvisor as well as Vacation rentals have been on TripAdvisor since 2009. The changes we're making now are to improve the experience on

  2. Great idea about having a forum which vacation home owners can communicate with Flipkey. I just listed my property and am enjoying the situation so far but have questions so hopefully this can help. It seems like the actual "number of reviews" has been dropped from the vacation rental listings. I have been quite keen on this project and have 10 positive reviews so far listed so I am disturbed that this basic criteria for ranking seems to less important. Also interested to know how much traffic locations like Maui receive, any way of getting this data? Thanks Bruce

    • Hi Bruce,

      I'm glad to hear that you're excited about the blog as a forum - we're looking forward to getting involved with the vacation rental community through this page. Taryn can get into the traffic data in a later blog post, but I can answer your first question about reviews/rankings. The short answer is: don't worry, the ranking algorithm hasn't changed, and your positive reviews still have as much value as they did before. The longer answer: over the next few weeks the site will be undergoing some appearance changes, so you might notice information like "number of reviews" being moved or rearranged. We're not getting rid of any data - only trying to make even better and easier to use.

  3. The Flipkey website doesn't look right from my home computer after I installed the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 Professional and the Security Essentials. The sign in link is missing and there are other misconfigurations. I use IE as my browser but even when I use Google Crome to view the Flipkey website, it still doesn't look right. Any suggestions on what I might try doing to correct this problem?

    • Hi Jessie,

      Thanks for the feedback! We recently redesigned the site a bit, so that may be the problem. What you can do to fix it is a "hard refresh" of your browser - hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys, and simultaneously click "Refresh." That should do the trick!

  4. Hi,

    I have rent a place through FlipKey. I booked It in February, and our trip is April 25-30. I have the listing #, but can not find where on the web site to put in the # to pull up the listing page. I can not find the property I have booked. Just wanted to show it to a friend? Help please.

      If you have the listing number and you want to pull up the property page, then you can enter it into the URL directly after For example, if the listing number is 116954, then you can directly enter the URL and it will redirect to the listing page. If you're going to share the listing with a friend, then you can copy and paste the listing's web address into an email.
