Story Behind the Name Mountain Camp is a name on which my wife, our two daughters and I all just simply agreed. The special nature of Mountain Camp is not that it is named after anything of special significance. Instead, what it represents to us is a dream that is slowly being fulfilled each year as more and more guests, family and friends discover, share and enjoy our home and property. We spent over 20 years visiting parents in Blowing Rock while our daughters were growing up. When we decided to look for a home or home site, we listed criteria important to each family member including: a close proximity to Blowing Rock; reasonably easy acc...ess; a view; enough woods for trails; and a creek of some sort. We were not sure whether we could find one piece of property with all those things and stay within our budget. We chose the Mountain Camp property because it appeared to have everything for which we were looking even including a very small stream. However, we could not tell if it was going to have a view. After the road was built and the building site cleared, we were thrilled to discover a beautiful view! The home design and building process was also a very enjoyable collective decision making endeavor for our family, and it consequently reflects parts of each of us. It has been several years now since the first Christmas that we spent at Mountain Camp in 2007, and our plans and vision for the property continue to grow. As it turns out, Mountain Camp is simply the name of our dream. With 16-foot-high living, dining and game room ceilings, top-of-the-line furnishings and hardwood floors throughout the home and wonderful mountain views from nearly every room, you’ll enjoy every part of this beautiful mountain home. Mountain Camp’s main level boasts a spacious living room with a 16-foot-high cathedral ceiling and windows top to bottom and spectacular mountain views, a gorgeous stone, gas-log fireplace, a 46” Satellite TV with stereo surround sound and DVD player, leather sofas and recliners, a dining area with a large table that seats 10, a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances and commercial gas range, granite countertops and eating bar with extra seating for four, a spacious laundry room, a reading room with wonderful mountain views, a large covered deck with rockers, a wonderful Hot Springs Hot Tub, a huge Jenn-Air gas grill, a bedroom with a queen-size bed adjoining a full bathroom with large tiled shower, a master suite with a king-sized bed, and a private bathroom with a large claw-foot tub and separate beautifully tiled oversized shower. Downstairs there is a large game room with a 16-foot ceiling, pool table, sitting area with satellite TV and DVD player, dry heat infrared sauna, loft with a twin day/trundle bed and work desk, one bedroom with queen bed, a large bathroom with shower, another bedroom with two twin beds, as well as a heated two-car garage. Outdoor amenities at Mountain Camp include easy access, beautiful views, cul-de-sac parking for at least 5 cars, seasonal creek, and hiking trails. Roast marshmallows under the stars at the beautiful stone fire pit and enjoy lunch outside on the charming picnic table. Deer and turkey abound on these ten beautiful acres that adjoin protected Park Service Land. Mountain Camp is also just 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and its hiking trails, 15 minutes from Appalachian Ski Mountain, and is very conveniently located to all of the High Country’s other major attractions. Mountain Camp is truly a magnificent High Country vacation experience!

  This is the 2nd year that our group has stayed at Mtn. Camp. It is a beautiful home with a splendid view. It is located on plenty of acreage, and is conveniently located to Blowing Rock and WestGlo Spa. We plan to return again next year!

  Beautiful Cabin!

  I traveled to Blowing Rock with a group of friends for a weekend of skiing and relaxation -- Mountain Camp was beautiful and surprisingly cozy for such a large cabin! It was fairly close to the ski resorts and only 10 min from town. The staff was extremely helpful via email and phone prior to our arrival and we had no trouble during our stay. I have no complaints and will definitely be back!
