Nice house. Master shower too small. Glass top table was uncomfortable and didn't fit with decor. Beautiful surroundings and great accomodations on deck and back yard.

This home is tastefully decorated and appointed could not have been any more perfect for 5 adults. The kitchen had very adequate cooking supplies and lovely appliances. The location is less than 4 miles from Blowing Rock and easy to get to despite the curvy roads. It is hard to say what I enjoyed the most but let's just say, I want to return!

Great Cabin, Great Location
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
My family and I stayed at this cabin for two nights. There were four adults and two kids. The kids were aged 6 an 2. We mainly visited the area to go to Tweetsie railroad and just to relax on the Labor day weekend.
We love this cabin. It was a very comfortable place to relax and unwind and conveniently located to Tweetsie (about 5 minutes) and to Boone/Blowing Rock. You can actually hear the train whistle from the Tweetsie train on the porch of the cabin. As described, you could walk to appalachian Ski Mountain.
The Outside: The cabin has an awesome wrap around porch that is completely safe for the kids to run around. The only way on and off the porch is on the front entrance to the cabin. The back part of the porch has an extension with a large outdoor dinner table and an outdoor fireplace. It also has a large swing and several rocking chairs. The backyard has a hammock and fire pit. The parking is very easy to access and it is super easy to unload/load your car.
The Inside: The cabin is very nice and clean (with the exception of a few cobwebs). I didn't notice any musty or stale smells. The a/C kept the house very cool. The rooms all have Tv's. Only one TV has a DVD player so if you have a portable you may want to bring it along. If you have young kids and are worried about the stairs I would suggest bring a long a baby gate. The whole cabin is hard wood including the stairs. It looks great but that would be a hard tumble on the steps if a toddler fell. The beds were decent. The upstairs queen bed was firm, the downstairs queen was soft. The kids bunks were typical bunk beds in terms of comfort. The futon in the loft was soft. There is comfortable seating throughout the house.
Extras: The cabin has the typical ammenites you'd expect to find and then some. Some that come to mind: dishwasher, coffee pot, big refrigerator (ice maker/water dispenser), washing machines, toys for the kids, VCR/DVD player, cable on all Tv's, Wifi Internet access (very fast, 10mbps download), outdoor grill, pots, dishes/cups, silverware, cutting boards, grill lighter.
Suggestions on what to bring with you: extra toilet paper, paper towels, your own bedding including comforters/blankets, cutlery (if you are going to be making any large meals that require cutting), extra soap/towels for the bathrooms.
Some downsides: The water pressure in the upstairs bathroom is not great and the bathroom is a bit drafty. You can only leave one garbage bag behind for the cleaning folks. All other garbage must go to dumpsters off property. The rental company has dumpsters behind their office that they will let you use.
The Rental Company:
They are very friendly and organized. The only downside was they send you a contract that you have to sign and fax back. It's not a big deal but I'm just lazy so I'd rather just sign something electronically. I will update my review if I run into any difficulties with them later but so far I've not heard any complaints about our stay. -

Left on 08/23/2012 for a stay in September 2011
We stayed here in September of 2011. My kids thought was great to bring our Boston Terrier with us on vacation. I just loved the quietness of the area, close enough to blowing Rock but far enough to relax. The house is beautiful. The porch was amazing, and I can't find anything to complain about. It's also in the perfect location to do some skiing at app Ski Mountain.

We loved this house and there were no surprises. The house is just as pictured online. Breakfast on the deck each morning and 'smores at nite by the fireplace amid the treetops. We would stay in this house again in a heartbeat.

This was an absolutely beautiful home. The only negative thing was the thin ceiling. You could speak in a normal tone and the kids right above the master bedroom could hear you and vice versa. Other than that we really enjoyed the home.

The cabin could not have been more perfect or suitable for our week of skiing at app Ski Mtn. The space was just right for our family of five plus grandparents and everything was so clean. The walk to the slopes took just a few minutes, even my three year old could make it without complaining. The Jenkins realty people were super nice and informative too. We would definitely come back!

We enjoyed our stay at almost There very, very much. The cabin was cozy and well equipped. Only one problem was encountered. Two of the beds did not have mattress pads so I improvised w/ blankets. I stopped into the office the next day and two hours later a nice lady delivered new mattress pads.
We particularly appreciated the owner allowing us to bring our Golden Retriever. He is a dear and cleaner than most people.
Would not hesitate to stay here again. -

We came to the mountains for Christmas with our family and children. The cabin looked as good when we got there as it did in the photos. Beautiful wood throughout, open kitchen, comfy beds and loved the jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed playing in the snow in the backyard and warming up by the fireplace on the back porch. We will definately love to come back again.

Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in March 2010
My family and I recently stayed at "Almost There" it is a beautiful home and a great location. We got lucky with the weather and were able to get to and from the house without needing a 4x4, but had there been the slightest bit of snow that would not have been possible. The house is beautiful, it has a fully equipped kitchen, an inside gas and outside log fire place. The only down side is that you can hear everything going on upstairs through the floors, if you don't mind this (which we didn't) then it's the perfect location. In addition, the staff at Jenkins Realty were extremely nice, helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay there again!

Left on 02/09/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We were originally going to stay in another cabin but the weather conditions were so bad that Jenkins Realtors booked us here instead. I was SO thanhkful for that. I was worried the entire trip about how we were going to get up to the other cabin in such snowy, cold and icy weather. They were amazing to work with. Very nice and cordial people.
Almost There was a very nice place to stay. It was in a great location. We couldn't get our car out (or at least we didn't attempt it) and we walked in the snow up to the lodge at Appalachin Ski Mountain. It took us no time at all. There isn't really much of a view. It is nice but your view is of other cabins and of the lights in the ski mountain parking lot. There was loud music playing on the slopes that you can hear outside. We enjoyed it while we grilled out watched the snow and had a fire in the outdoor fireplace. You can't hear the music once you are inside.
I went with a group of six. Many TV's for many tastes. The kitchen was awesome. I cooked everyday. It was well stocked and equiped. The jacuzi tub in the master bedroom is AMAZING!! I wished I could bring it home with me! :-) The beds are comfortable. No one ended up sleeping on the top bunk however because they didn't feel it was very sturdy. This was an adult however, not a child. They slept on the futon instead. They have a small selection of games and an even smaller selection of reading material if you want to read. Someone on the trip with me did enjoy one of the books. Overall the home was awesome. The only thing I feel you should be warned of is how thin the walls are. I could hear every word people were saying in the room beside and above me. They could also hear us down below and beside them. If you are a light early sleeper and you have loud night owls with you...not a good idea.
The location was fabulous and I would love to come back and visit again! In my mind I'm Almost There... -

Morehead City, NCAwesome Stay!
Left on 01/27/2010 for a stay in January 2010
What a beautiful home! Check in went smoothly, and without problems. Our stay was mainly for skiing, so we could not have asked for a more convenient location to Appalachian Ski resort. In winter weather, you definately need a four wheel drive (and in icy conditions, that might not work either). There was still a healthy amount of snow on the ground from their Christmas snow/ice storm. I could go on and on about the positive aspects of this house, but let me just sum it up and say that you will not regret a decision to rent this house! We are already looking at our calendar for our ski trip next year.

Athens, GATHIS IS A PERFECT STAY!
Left on 01/25/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The cabin was beautiful! We couldn't have asked for a better place! We went down to go skiing and the place was perfect to walk to the slopes. I would recommend buying chains for your car if you don't normally drive in the snow. There is a part of the road that leads to the cabin that made us a bit nervous and had trouble getting past.
The cabin had all the necessities. Dishes, games, and a cooking area. I would recommend taking toilet paper, trash bags, and dish washing detergent. If you don't bring those, there's a food lion close that you can run to. We mainly stayed in for meals, but there are a few options for restaurants in the area.
The place was wonderful and I would recommend this to anyone! -

Great house. Very comfortable with nice amenities. Especially loved the outdoor fireplace on the deck. Kitchen was very nice to work in but a little lacking in housewares and kitchen organization. Loved the upstairs loft area to read or watch television. Location was very convenient to Boone and Blowing Rock. Definitely would recommend to others.

We anticipated having a fun stay but encountered a fabulous experience! The house itself is beautiful and being only about 2 years old was great because it felt like a brand new home... the appliances are up to date. Love the wrap around porch and especially the outdoor fireplace! Having a washer and dryer really was a time saver being that we could relax while the clothes were being washed and dried. Felt at home!!
Location was very nice... easy to get to Blowing Rock (minutes away) and just a few more to Boone. Having the Blue Ridge Parkway just down the street was wonderful as well. Hope to come back!! -

Almost There is a great cabin just a short distance from Blowing Rock. It has plenty of room for the family and kids, user friendly kitchen with updated appliances, a great deck which includes a fireplace we used for roasting marshmallows. We've stayed in a few cabins around Blowing Rock and Boone, this one is by far the easiest/most accessible to get in and out of, especially if you have elderly guests or those that may have trouble walking. If your looking for a nice place to stay that the kids will also enjoy, one with great access and close to the shops and restaurants of Blowing Rock, this is the one!

Left on 02/26/2009 for a stay in February 2009
My family and I stayed here for our ski trip Valentine's Day weekend. There was plenty of room for all of us. The teenagers fell in love with the loft and the bedrooms were very spacious. The kitchen also had all we needed to cook our family meals.
One of the best things about this house is it's proximity to the slopes. We didn't have the hassle of driving and parking at the lodge. It was so easy for all of us to go and come as we wanted.
I can safely say that we will rent this cabin again. -

Our family spent the Christmas Holidays at this wonderful cabin and had a wonderful and memorable time. Very spacious, clean, and well furnished. Loved the fireplace and the fire-pit in the backyard. The only drawback (minor at that) is that the master bath has a very tiny shower. Otherwise, we would definitely stay here agin when we return.
