Bear Tracks is a very nice cabin that is well maintained and definitely as advertised. My fiance and I had an awesome time just relaxing and taking in the scenery. If you're looking for a nice cabin getaway this is definitely the place to go. We had a great time just hanging out in the woods enjoying an old movie or using the grill. Everything was fantastic, I can't wait to go back again.

We went to Blue Ridge, Georgia in search of property to buy as a vacation home to get away from the Florida heat. We stayed at Bear Tracks Cabin while we looked at other properties. None of the properties we looked at even came close to the warmth and charm of Bear Tracks. Everything worked, everything was comfortable, immaculately clean, communication between parties was extraordinary. We will go out of our way to stay at Bear Tracks again.

I write this review today because it was previous reviews that led me to pick this cabin. Reading about angie's above and beyond attention to detail and willingness to help make sure all-is-well was the clincher for us, and it is true. The cabin itself was perfect for a small number of folks (2-4), was fully stocked with all the odds and ends we needed and after our days mountain biking and hiking, the hot tub was such a treat and and private too. But it is the personal attention on top of it all that makes me honestly be able to say - No doubt, I would stay at Bear Tracks again.
Thank you, Angie!Response from Angie Mezza Smith - 12/18/2012

GAVery Charming & Cozy Retreat!

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with the comforts of home, this is it! The directions were very detailed and straightforward. We did have trouble with the small gas heater on the wall--the pilot light kept going out. We contacted Jim, the owner, and he recommended vacuuming it out. We did that and it seemed to resolve the issue. There was plenty of firewood for the fireplace and the hot tub was an added bonus! We are very pleased!!! Book your stay--you won't be disappointed!!!"

Cumming, GAGreat Cabin for the weekend
Left on 09/30/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We have stayed in this cabin many times with different owners, and once with Jim and angie. The cabin is perfect for a long weekend to clear your mind, and have a good walk or two. Cabin has everything one might need while on vacation. Angie is truly a great host, and will answer any question you might have! The hot tub was wonderful, along with the grill. Although it is not a mountain top view, it still is a very nice view. Almost like living in the tree tops. *when looking outside the windows that is in fact what you see, tops of trees. We will have no reserve in visiting this cabin again this winter! My only comment for improvement is to make sure that the wood supplied outside is truly seasoned. There has been 2 times that I have had a rough time burning that wood. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a weekend away from the world. In response to the unpaved part 150 ft. before driveway... It is not bad to travel up and down that road with ease. *however, if it was to snow or ice that would be the only time operating that hill would be a challenge. Compared to most other cabins with unpaved entries that is a breeze. =) Thank you angie for purchasing this beautiful home and continuing to rent it! I cannot think of winter and not think about a long weekend there. We look forward to staying this winter, although dates are booking up fast!!

Thanks for the Great feedback Chris. We're so happy that you returned to the Bear Tracks Cabin as our 1st official guest as soon as we became the new owners. We hope you'll continue to keep staying at our place. Thanks for the heads up about the firewood, the current supply was there when we purchased the cabin, but we're due to buy some more and we'll try to find some that's more seasoned. Let us know when you'd like to come back.

Deltona, FLEverything you could want
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Angie, the owner, goes out of her way to make sure everything is ready for you. As previously noted, household supplies were generous and abundant even down to spices, flour, ketchup, vinegar, etc. Garbage bags, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. were also in very generous supply. The kitchen had almost anything one could want or need to cook with. When I couldn't find the toaster, a quick call to angie let me know where it was. Firewood was also supplied for the fireplace although when I was there, it was warm. There was a small problem with the refrigerator but once again angie took care of it as soon as possible. Best of all, the place was very clean. A list of activities and sites was emailed along with the final payment info and if one were into hiking, fishing, tubing, etc. (and not just old!) it was great. I did enjoy the Copper Museum in Ducktown which was definitely worth a visit as well as the train to McCaysville.
I would have to agree with another review that mentioned the gravel road. Although it is only a short distance, it can be rough, especially after heavy rains but I had no problems getting to and from the cabin in a small car. One has to watch the culverts when backing out but I did not land in one so I guess all went well.
The porch overlooking the woods was a great place to read and have coffee in the morning and hope to see wildlife (we saw only deer). After a day of touring or whatever, the sunken hot tub was very relaxing for these old bones. The peace and quiet of this location was a great break from the madness of central Florida. My only small problem was the lack of central a/c. There is a window unit which adequately cools the main part of the cabin but the bedrooms, despite ceiling fans, were a little hot for me on the one or two days when temps hit the 90's but it was a small inconvenience to put up with since the cabin is so pleasant.Response from Angie Mezza Smith - 09/25/2012

We're so glad that you enjoyed your 2 weeks at the Bear Tracks Cabin Richard. We certainly hope you'll consider staying there again on your next visit to the North GA Mountains. We hope to have Central A/C installed in the cabin before next summer to make your next stay even more comfortable. Thanks Again, Angie and Jim -

Palm Bay, FLWe can't wait to return!
Left on 09/22/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This place is phenomenal! Angie is the ultimate hostess who thinks of every little thing a renter could want!
Not only were there garbage bags, but zip-locs and kitchen bags, and, I think, brown paper bags!
Yes, there were condiments and napkins and utensils and dinnerware. Towels? Several sizes including paper towels. Matches, lighter fluid, fire wood . . . this cabin had it all!
We saw deer and a bear, and had plenty of room to explore. The hot tub was just that--hot and inviting.
The only drawback for us was the last 100-or-so yards of the road leading up to the driveway. We rode motorcycles and it was a real . . . um . . . er . . . Bear for me to travel that stretch, going in or going out. If the road was paved . . .
We will be back, though. (Let us know when the road is paved, please. We'll book for the very next opening!)
Thanks so much, Angie and Jim~

Left on 07/28/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Very clean and in a quiet area with almost no road traffic. Everything you need in the kitchen, and includes a hot tub (very private) and even a washer-dryer. It also has a suprisingly good selection of DVD & VHS movies to watch when you return from local adventures. Plenty to do in the area, or just relax. The owner is very helpful with area attractions and things to do. The closest town is Blue Ridge which is a nice place with some good restaurants and shops. That is where the train departs for a slow ride to McCaysville.
We saw two deer walk by on the road in front during our stay. The only thing missing was a mountain view, but it does have a nice porch with rocking chairs and the hot tub. Overall, we had a very relaxing and comfortable time!Response from Angie Mezza Smith - 08/10/2012
