Rustic Cabin, Appalachian Elegance

Asheville apartment

  • 1 bedroom
  • 1 bathroom
  • sleeps 2

“Breathtaking” This rustic cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Being up on the mountain we were out of the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to venture out if we wanted to. The views from the porch were spectacular, especially as the sun came up, which you can watch from the comfort of the bed through a large window! The inside of the cabin is charming, with all of the comforts home including a full kitchen, bathroom with a stand up shower. The cabin was quiet and despite the owner, George being upstairs we felt alone. George is a great host! He is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a quick tour of the cabin and best spots for pictures when we arrived. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer! We will be going back. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a quiet, secluded, cozy place to escape in the mountains.

“Relaxing and carefree” We had such a wonderful and memorable weekend. Very picturesque and ever so quiet when you're there mid season. There were wineries and breweries within a short driving distance, and the local restaurants are spot on. I would not suggest using GPS, it gets you in the vicinity but not to the right house. Thank goodness for pictures of the house. The kitchen is absolutely beautiful, but bring your own trash bags and sandwich bags etc. The master bath and bed is very nice. We loved the bed so much that we are buying a mattress exactly like it because we slept so well. My only other suggestion would be to have the house ready for arrival. The house was cold, and the entry way was not swept, I picked up a few pieces of trash laying around on the driveway, but I am a Manager of a very nice Boutique Hotel so I notice these small things. All in all it was so lovely and I would definitely stay again.

“Relax and enjoy the view and the art” This place was so relaxing, rejuvenating and beautiful! Lovely house with all you need. The deck is awesome for enjoying the view, sunning, grilling. You are surrounded by not only mountains but by artist studios throughout the area on the Toe River Studio Tour. Claudia and John were very helpful and all of our contact with them was enjoyed. They can guide you to wonderful hiking locations too. It was so cool to see them at work in their studios creating art. Their studios are in walking distance from the house.

“New River Ramble” This was a great time for the entire family. We attended the ASU football game, but until that time we enjoyed all the amenities of the home. The New River, the fire pit, the hot tub, the game room, the bicycles, etc. were enjoyed by everyone. This place has everything you could imagine you would need. We will be back! :)

PANORAMIC VIEWS: Kilkelly's 'WEST WING' Condo

Boone apartment

  • 2 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 6

“Home away from home” I own my own business, so any time away is especially precious. Kilkelly's West Wing Cottage was the perfect fit. Unlike the institutional feel of a hotel room, the West Wing is like a home away from home. Immediately, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well kept. The rooms were equipped with every possible item anyone would need, even a tea kettle and grill accessories for the gas grill. The commercial like ice maker was an unexpected surprise. They even provided a small cooler for day trips. Normally in a hotel room, I am loathe to touch anything and notice the dirt and traces of previous guests. Immediately you can see how clean and welcoming the West Wing is - I had no hesitation using any of the amenities. We are very picky travelers and the West Wing exceeded our expectations. The breakfast casserole was so good I even got the recipe! There are several televisions with satellite, DVD, Blue-Ray, etc - available but we never even turned them on. It was so relaxing enjoying the sunrise, sunset and mountain views, we had no need for the outside world. We would not hesitate to come back and highly recommend the West Wing! :)

“Awesome and Blissful” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blissful Vista. Jenkins Rentals is wonderful and helpful. We have been coming to Blowing Rock for 14 years and are looking forward to next year. The location was perfect, private but still around everyone. Just make sure you have 4 wheel drive as always. The view is fantastic, ever changing and peaceful. Totally enjoyed waking up and just looking out the window to see the sunrise. Love the wood burning fireplace. If you are a chef, the kitchen was perfect and had everything one needs. Our favorite part is just enjoying the view out on the awesome decks. Thank you for a wonderful home and sweet memories.

“At least as good as advertised” When we arrived, we were met with a friendly smile, a lot of information, a good quick tour of the location, and a bottle of wine with two glasses. We wanted a pet friendly place, and I kind of expected some evidence of other pets - smell, scratches, etc. We found nothing of the kind. Which is great when one of us also has asthma and would be sensitive to a dirty place. For the holiday season, they even had a tree in the corner. The fireplace is great. The great room is huge. And the views were terrific. The bedrooms were more than enough for us. Master bedroom was huge and kids enjoyed the second floor space with two twin beds and a TV. We came to visit the asheville river arts district and to take our kids on the Great Smoky RailRoad Polar Express Tour. Both events were close enough. But we also stopped by the Biltmore and the National GingerBread House Contest at the Grove Park Inn. (Got a nice tip - pay for a morning massage at the Grove Park and get use of their spa facilities all day). I'm a runner, so the high grade gravel road to the house was not to my liking for that. Altitude, steep hill, thin road that was a bit slippery. But I also went just a bit higher than the house to the RV Campground and not only found great hilltop views, but also tons of trails that wound around the hills. These would be terrific for exploring with the kids and dogs on another trip. We will definitely look to this house first for a return trip. I should note that though the house felt very remote, anything we wanted was close by. We had a need for a pharmacy and groceries right away and they were quick to get to. We even found a decent Thai restaurant in a strip mall close by. Other restaurants looked good. But the proximity to downtown and the River arts area was surprising. Had to be only three highway exits away and no traffic.

“Private Mountain Top” Very private spot with far views and a good size yard to kick around in. We went in autumn and the colors were lovely. The bed is in the upstairs loft and the bath is on the lower floor. Otherwise there is ample space while still feeling cozy. Very warm in cold weather with the heating system. Nice sized hot tub on the rear deck with easy access through the back kitchen door. Great sunrise and sunset views from this lot. A very appealing spot. The steep gravel road is sharply inclined so a four wheel drive would be necessary in rain or snow.

“Beautiful home” We had a week long stay scheduled. It was beautiful. The house was amazing and the view was perfect. We had to cut our trip short though. There are so many stairs and the stairs down to the river were way too much. I wouldnt suggest this property for anyone with health conditions, pregnancy or small children with them. It would be perfect for young couples or older groups who are in excellent shape. Jeff Hayes was amazing to deal with as was Flip Key advisors. It was such a smooth way to book a beautiful home. I will definitely use them again in the future.

The Lodge at Edenderry
Great place, great views, plenty of room

We spent a week at this beautiful home in the mountains. Since the photographs were taken, foliage has grown around the house, and it isn't as brand new as the pictures show. But it is still a warm, lovely home with space for a large group. Our group was physicians and their spouses. We had been stationed together in England in the early seventies. Our time together was wonderful with plenty of room to have all six couples preparing and eating our breakfasts together without bumping into one another. Every couple had its own bedroom and bath, and there was still enough room for one of the couples' sons to spend the week with us. There is one huge bedroom upstairs that could have accommodated another fairly large family. It is difficult to point out any deficits at all, although there are not many closets in the house, no one in our group complained about that. There are two decks and a hot tub as well as a fire pit out the front door. The coy ponds and waterfall out the front door are very pleasant. The "swimming pond" is not close to the house. It is down the steep road toward the bottom of the hill. There is plenty of parking, but over 4 cars, there has to be some re-parking to get one couple or another out. It is an easy drive to downtown Asheville and to the Biltmore Estate. In summary, it is a great place to have a retreat to enjoy one another's company. The Yonder group provides an extensive brochure about the house and Asheville---the best I have encountered in any rentals before. The Lodge at Edenderry comes highly recommended by our group.see more

We had a great time!

We had a wonderful time at this home. The outdoor area is great and we enjoyed the outdoor fire and the adventure down the steps to the river. Jeff was very easy to communicate with and the house was well stocked. It is easy to get to and close to restaurants, grocery stores, and activities. … see more

Rushing Stone Cottage
Easter wked

Interesting 2-story older cottage, sits back from road & semi-private. Master BR upstairs with fireplace (window AC in Master, only.) 2nd BR downstairs. Bath on both levels. Lots of windows downstairs and ceiling fans. Nice seating/dining area on main level. good access, but a little difficult to find drive. (cottage sign obstructed by tree.) Nice yard. Comfortable, enjoyable weekend. Didn't have cell or cable/satellite TV, but good Wi-Fi service, but not a problem for a wked, for us. Location map on flip-key was not accurate, when booked (cabin is not N of Jefferson, but SE, about 10 mins, out.) Good communications with owner. Cabin was generally clean & yard freshly mowed.see more
A High Country Retreat
Awesome experience

Our family came together to celebrate my daughters' graduation from ASU. There were 10 of us...We had a blast. This was so much better than 5 individual motel rooms. The house was clean and neat and spacous and well laid out. The zoned AC worked well. We were glad we had been warned about the winding, curvy road and steep driveway We sat around the dining room table for 12 and talked and talked and talked. We sat on the deck and talked and talked and talked. The bedrooms were gorgeous and the space immense. We had contests playing pool, shuffleboard, foosball and air hockey. We watched movies, read, relaxed and sat in the hot tub. We spent 18 minutes trying to lock doors and turn o ff the shower. We grilled. We laughed and we cried. We had a very, special long weekend. Not only was my daughter valedictorian of her class, she also got engaged. We were greatly blessed.see more
