Nicely situated at the entrance to Boat of Garten, this substantial family house looks over the green and has a large enclosed grassy south facing rear garden with parking and private gate leading into a network of paths in the surrounding forest, which is home to a variety of wildlife including rare red squirrels. Unusually spacious, the house is comfortably furnished in an unpretentious manner and has a relaxed traditional country house atmosphere. The village has shops, an hotel and restaurant, a welcoming golf course and a station on the Speyside Steam Railway.

The house is quite spacious and reasonable place to stay. It could do with a bit of an update, but is OK. You have to bring your own bedding etc. (there are no quilts - although there are blankets) which is a pain when there are quite a few of you, so if they provided bedding, even if they charged for it, I'd stay there again. The location is great for getting around, with mountains to the west and south and the Moray Firth coast to the north.

The house and the grounds were lovely, spacious and well equipped. The heating however was extremely poor and to be honest verging on unacceptable. The aga in the kitchen was on constantly but there was no way to adjust either the temperature or timing. This also ran the hot water which was generally cold by the end of the day, forcing the use of an immersion heater.
What made the heating worse was that the house's electricity is on a meter which was costing about £5 per day and that was using electric wisely.
The cot that was advertised was completely unacceptable and due to its aged design dangerous. However we contacted the owner about this on the second day ahd she immediately paid for us to purchase a new one...
If we had stayed at the house in the height of Summer perfect... Cold weather never again I am afraid.

The house was spacious although in need of some modernisation, wouldn't change a thing about the kitchen.
Relaxing with the option of nearby facilities to keep all amused.
