Left on 04/26/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This place is paradise. We stayed a total of 3 nights (2 adults and 2 boys 11 and 8) and really enjoyed our stay. The location is amazing on the water just off of a white sand beach. The Casa has everything you need to prepare dinners and enjoy your stay. Michael and Christine are great hosts and will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. Here are some tips/suggestions from our stay:
- The accommodation is somewhat rustic and not for everybody. You are somewhat exposed to the elements. Beware of the birds on the roof making a lot of noise first thing in the morning.
- The Casa was very clean and had everything that you need for your stay.
- We were not huge fans of the toilet that flushed right into the ocean underneath the Casa. I know the sewage all ends up in the ocean, but this was a little too direct especially considering how calm the water is in this area.
- They had a sup and some pool noodles, loungers etc. for you to use in the water. Kids enjoyed having these items to use.
- You need to stop at a grocery store before your boat transfer to the Casa to pick up food and beverages for your stay. They will provide a large cooler with ice blocks to keep your food cold.
- If you enjoy seafood, there is a flag on the beach that you can raise. This tells the fishermen to come buy after they make their catch so you can buy fresh seafood. When we arrived we bought 5 live rock lobsters for dinner that night. They only charged us $10 for all 5.
- You can do a tour of the indigenous community at Salt Creek (only a 5 minute walk from the Casa). There are different trails where you can take a guided tour. We found this quite interesting and saw lots of wildlife. Bring lots of bug spray for these tours
- The community has a store to buy a limited amount of supplies or food. We bought some fresh baked bread and some eggs which were both very good.
- One night we walked up the beach to au Natural resort which is about a 30 minute walk away. We arranged to have dinner that night which was amazing. They even gave us a ride by boat back to the Casa as it was very late by the time we left (they kept our wine glasses full all night). Martine who manages the resort is amazing and very friendly.
- Michael will take you on his boat for excursions anywhere you want to go. We found the prices a little higher than in Bocas, but he ended up being a personal tour guide and would take you wherever you wanted to go. Ended up being well worth the money.
- They have just built a beach bar that was to open in the next couple of weeks.
Overall we had a great experience and enjoyed a nice escape from reality. -

My now wife chose this as our destination to get married. Located on a great beach, walk as far as you want, and you'll see less than a dozen other structures. Great swim-able water all around for the included sup board. This property, as the name implies, is a piece of Paradise mixed with a bit of Indigenous culture and life. The casa has the feel of solitude while being near enough to the wonderful service of the property managers Michael and Christine. They can arrange anything you want or need. For us, they provided a wedding that was beyond anything we could have imagined. We weren't expecting anything more than the three of us on the beach. Instead, we were treated to decorations of fresh jungle sourced flowers delivered by several members of the local Indigenous tribe who joined us in our ceremony and celebration. Incredible, beautiful, meaningful and memorable are just a few words to describe what we were treated to. All facets of our time spent there are positive. Myself, my wife, and our teenage (14) son stayed four nights and five days. My advise, stay longer. Whether wanting to explore or relax, you will not be disappointed a month would not be too long to stay. The idea is you bring what you need to be primarily self sufficient, although there are other options.(which we did not explore} Local fisherman come by in their dugout canoes and sell their fresh fish. Expect to pay less than $2 a pound for the freshest fish possible. All of your perishables are kept on block ice in large coolers. We found this entire experience to be just what we were looking for--the best bang for our limited bucks. We would do it all again.

My partner and I had an amazing and relaxing 7 night stay at the Casa. The island is paradise. We caught a couple nice fish, kayaked to Zapatillas, and spent hours snorkeling the reef just off shore. There are some great hikes to do from the salt creek visitor's centre. We did the Cayman trail with alfredo and saw sloths, red frogs, night monkeys. The rain-forest is lush and beautiful. We did dinner at al Natural on our last night and I'd definitely recommend it! The Casa itself is beautiful and has everything you'll need. The managers Michael and Christine are great. They were very welcoming and helped us out with everything we needed. I'd love to go back, and it was a week I will never forget.

My husband and I came here for 3 nights for our honeymoon. My husband was a little worried that he'd be bored, but with the excursions available, we had a blast. We did the kayak trip and saw 6 sloths and then we went to Red Frog Beach and snorkeling, both of which were awesome. The managers were really nice. We walked to al Natural for a dinner which was amazing and definitely recommended. The Casa itself was awesome and so beautiful. I originally thought it'd be a little more remote (there were 6 houses on the shore), but out on the water you feel alone anyway. One night we saw so much bio-luminescence, which took our breath away.
The only complaint or recommendation I have is the 2 uncomfortable double beds. Due to the heat and size of the beds, we slept on separate beds, which wasn't ideal for our honeymoon. I'd recommend getting one nice king-size bed since the Casa looks like a popular honeymoon spot. Maybe a futon if more beds are needed. -

We booked Casa Paradisio for our honeymoon and had an amazing time! It is 'off the beaten path' but it is so worth it. We spent 5 days at Casa and did not want to leave! The hosts, Michael and Christine, were incredibly helpful. They were flexible with our late arrival, provided a few toiletries that we forgot and overall were focused on making sure we had as much fun as possible. Michael captained several excursions, all of which were amazing---the Zapatillas islands is an absolute must (Red Frog is cool too but Zapatillas is more remote and pristine). You will mostly cook for yourself however the al Natural resort is a 20 minute walk down the beach and their dinners were amazing (they even provided boat transport back to Casa at end of night if you ask). Overall, an amazing, unforgettable trip!!!

My family and I only stayed here for 3 nights and we wished it was longer. We literally had practically the whole beach to ourselves. Kristine is super nice and met us at the Baracuda cafe which by the way has really good food. The ranchero is awesome. The kitchen is small, but it has a really powerful stove and is just fine for cooking. We were able is buy fish from fishermen in the canoes. They came right up to the house and we bought fresh tuna. My daughter caught fish right off the deck of the house. I had read previous reviews about bats and almost didn't stay here because of it. I'm so glad I spoke with Kristine because there were no bats. There were some birds that you could hear in the early morning on the outside of the roof, but they were harmless. We loved staying here. Life felt so simple, it's really beautiful and we had the best time. It was one of the highlights of our vacation in Bocas. It 's a bit like camping because you bring your own food out, but to me that adds to the fun. We walked back into the indian village and took a tour. The weather changes so rapidly here the whole three weeks we were on vacation. It doesn't rain all day, it's just always changing. The really intense lightning and thunder storms were very exciting in this house. Also, there were no mosquitos, but I did get bit a lot by the sand fleas. It's just a bocas thing. Either they like or they don't and they liked me very much. I will remember this place forever with the fondest of memories. So glad we stayed here. You could pay quadruple the price and stay a little down the beach at casa cayuco or al natural, but I don't know why you would want to do that. This place is awesome!

Casa Paradisio makes for wonderful vacation getaway. We stayed for 2 weeks in early February 2012. If traveling by air I would recommend that you stay in Boca’s Town the day of arrival and day before departure to eliminate any problems with flight departures’ and give you an easy morning for shopping prior to your boat ride to Casa Paradisio. We stayed out side of town and it is very peaceful.
The airport is easy to access; Bocas is easy to get around in by taxi and pleasant to be in. Daytime Down Town is a little on the busy/active side of things but safe with a relaxed atmosphere. Food shopping is easy; the large market (2 blocks away and the same side of street) near the Barracuda Café will deliver your food to the Café. Prices are reasonable compared to those of Baltimore our home town. Across the street from the Café is a good vegetable /fruit stall.
We recommend eating at the Barracuda Café the food is simple, fresh and tasty. We also ate at El Limbo on the Sea. Good food and a great crab bisque soup.
I was tentative at staying two weeks in a location with limited access, but found plenty to do along with relaxing and walking the beach. We both wished that we could have stayed for 2 more weeks.
Mike and Christine are great hosts, With out Mike’s prodding we probably would have wallowed away more of our vacation simply relaxing.
We went to Red frog Beach, nice beach/beachside bar grill/ also zip lines, and Kayuko’s casual restaurant.
Chester the Owner stopped in for a visit. He contacted me prior to our stay and was very helpful and upfront in response to my questions.
Dinner at al Natural, good food and company, an easy walk, and they will boat you back to the Casa at the end of your evening for a few dollars. If you are using cash have small change available, several times (Al Natural/Indian Village/Los Secretos, ect.) they had no change available, but all was made good thru barter.
Snorkel/and or eat at Crawl Cay, visit the Indian village, take a walking tour (for the mildly able bodied) things can be muddy and slippery at times.
Pizza Sunday at the Blue Frog. Have the Chefs form Cayo Coral Restaurant prepare dinner for you at the Casa. Night fishing for snapper (and whatever else strolls by) from your deck. Day fishing in the bay before you (the king mackerel is delicious).
We meet several of Mike and Christine’s friends at there homes on several of the other cays. It was like visiting distant family, they were welcoming, down right hospitable, and wonderful to spend time with.
The Casa was a neat place to stay at. My wife retired the week before we stayed, and she loved the casual setting over the water and wonderful beach along this sparsely populated bay. The waters are calm and protected by a reef along the length of the bay. The only draw back is the fineness of the sand, when wading it stirs up once you get to about waist deep.
The refrigerator, stove and other essentials worked fine.
Half of the nights we stayed you needed cover while sleeping as the rains and night breezes made for very comfortable sleeping conditions.
An excellent place to get away to!!! -

This place is fantastic and full of character. This is one of the most beautiful places I have been. If you like remote you will love this. The weather was bad during our stay so we did not get to appreciate the setting at its best, but it was still beautiful. The house is basic but full of charm and has everything you need and of course the setting is out of this world. The dolphins come and swim in front of the balcony every afternoon and there are monkeys on the beach. There were bats in the roof which just added to the charm. They never disturb you but just hang from the rafters. They do not come into the room so there is no need to be afraid. I want to go back for longer when the weather is better.

My wife and I stayed along with my sister and her husband here and wow, let me just say how incredible this place is. After a 30-45 minute boat ride from Bocas town you end up at what feels like essentially your own private resort island. Hands down the most beautiful beach in Panama with white sand, almost no waves, palm trees, and shallow waters. The bungalow itself is very cute. Perfect size for 4 adults or a small family. Very clean, beautiful wood, and a view that is truly postcard perfect. It is very quiet there and trainquil. Eating dinner on the deck over the water was perfection.
Christine Garcia was an excellent host and made us feel welcome. Whenever we needed anything, she was there to help us out and make everything low stress and relaxing.
We had such a relaxing and fun time there. We opened a fresh coconut on the beach with a machete, went kayaking, snorkeling with sights of small barracuda and tons of fish, enjoyed cooking our own fun meals, plenty of card games, music, and good times.
We also ate dinner one night at al Natural (about a kilometer walk down the beach). That dinner was great with plenty of wine that just kept coming. We originally were planning on staying at al Natural and then we found Casa Paradisio. Casa Paradisio was much less money and now that we've seen both we loved Casa Paradisio so much more. It is private, spacious, quiet, and prettier.
If I had three hands, this place would get three thumbs up! -

Owner
Thank you for your candid review. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay at Casa Paradisio despite the best efforts of our staff to try and accommodate your needs to ensure your comfort. The open air construction style of the house does mean that bugs can get in and all guests are informed of this ahead of time and encouraged to bring bug sprays/coils especially if they are especially sensitive to bugs. Casa Paradisio is an incredible house in a gorgeous location but it can be a bit too rustic for some people's standards. We do our best to communicate this to our guests ahead of time so that they are well informed and prepared. I apologize again that you didn't enjoy your stay.

My wife and I needed a break from hectic Lima and a little time to ourselves away from the little tackers. It took a while to get there finally so would recommend breaking up the trip in beautiful Panama City, but once you do get there, it is breathtakingly beautiful and secluded with the photos really not doing it justice. Place was very tastefully decorated and designed. The hosts were very accommodating and shopped for food (make sure you find out what they couldn't get as its difficult to supplement once you're there). You'll need to cook yourself as there's really not many options around. The island is great to explore with the kayaks, also go to los zapatos and snorkel. I had the most memorable fishing trip of my life in the canoe as well trawling out in the deep sea for tuna.

this was like no place on earth. truly one of the most beautiful places you could possibly wake up in. snorkeling just a jump off the dock and a short swim to the reef. quiet, friendly, super peaceful.
we were especially interested in the eco-friendly nature of the casita but there was no running water all week so we lived out of buckets. not so bad, but a bummer for showers and the kitchen.
septic type toilet overflowed - super gross - but the property manger took care of it. he was great actually and put together a few boat trips for us. one especially interesting one left us in the middle of the ocean with no gas, no radio, no water, no nothing. my girlfriend and i had to tow the boat to a deserted island with only snorkel gear and life vests. luckily there were natives on the island tracking the turtles and they gave us a lift back to our already remote spot.
so, aside from almost getting lost at sea, it was a great adventure. -

We had been staying on Isla Colon for a week prior to our reservation at Casa Paradisio so we were accustomed to the lifestyle and pace in Bocas. We were also worried that the 2nd place we had reserved (Casa Paradisio) wasn't going to be as nice as our first place. Well, we were wrong!
Casa Paradisio is a perfect place to go, but you have to be ready for this type of vacation. Luckily, the property managers (Michael and Christine) sent us an informative doc that told us everything we needed to know to prepare for this place. We knew that you had to buy all supplies in town and that it's very remote. So, we brought books, food, beer, wine and we had everything we needed! The place is well stocked with new kitchen supplies, plenty of towels, sheets and blankets and Christine even brought over freshly picked plantains and coconuts for us to eat. We borrowed kayaks to travel down the beach and explored the area, but we never got bored in those 5 days and didn't want to come home. I highly recommend Casa Paradisio if you're a couple who likes adventure, can be away from outside world and likes to cook your own meals. The two hammocks on pier were our favorite spots to chill and the beach is absolutely breathtaking. It's perfectly named Casa Paradisio for a reason. Enjoy!

The Ranchero, as the "locals" call it, is exactly as advertised. It is away from the hustle and bustle of Bocas Town, and is a great place to relax. It is rustic and remote, as advertised, but nothing beats being over the water in your own bungalow on a remote beach. Michael and Christina are awesome property managers and a great resource.

imagine! a 2 storey thatched roof house over the water
its all yours! Its clean, unique, has a porch, a private dock,
hammocks, a shower, clean comfy beds, fit my family of
5. There is a local lady that will cook your meals from the food you bring, they may even go catch you a lobster!
After dinner she will clean up and do the dishes. All for
$10.00 .
This place is all by itself, you have no neighbors! You can walk down the beach and you will eventually run into some
accomodations but nothing beat this place. There are no bars, this is a place for solitude and quiet. If you walk far enough (to the right, off the dock) you will eventually run into masses of conch shells just there on the beach and even some sea urchin shells. Maybe this is seasonal so
find out. wow!! so many conch shells, hundreds of them.
Survivor was being filmed just up the beach too while we were there, it was Survivor from Colombia though.
At night, you can sit in the hammock, bugs dont bug you there, and you can sometimes see stingrays swimming around which is why you shouldnt swim at night. There are
dug out canoes to use for free too.
The house itself is really comfortable and nicely decorated.
Shop wisely so you have everything you need and take
a little more booze than you think you might like.
This places is intoxicating in itself and give yourself one
more day than you thought you might like too. We just wished for one more day!!!
this place is a must in Bocas Del Toro

My wife and I wanted to experience an over the water bungalow without paying an over the top price. Panama and Paradisio turned out to be just the ticket.
Casa Paradisio was everything the pictures showed. Very romantic and private, all by itself and over the water.
Paradisio is pretty remote. It's all the way on the South side of Isla Bastiementos near Zapatillos. A 45 minute boat ride one way, so plan accordingly. I'd suggest staying one or two nights in town if you want to experience some of the night life and the bars.
The property itself was very unique. The lights are solar powered and the fridge is propane powered. Different but sufficient.
The property managers Mike and Christine were very nice. They are former southern California natives themselves, so they offered some helpful hints and advice for us to get situated. Being remote as we were from Bocas, the only way to get around was to schedule transportation with Mike and Christine. They offered their boat service to us for nominal fee.
The beach was beautiful. We were the only one's there. It felt as though we had won the lottery.
The nights on our balcony were great. We were able to play games with hundreds of plankton in the ocean. Sudden flashlight movement towards the water would scare them, and cause them to glow for a second or two resulting in hundreds of neon lights just under the surface.
The little house guest's, otherwise known as geckos startled us at first, but then became our welcomed visitors.
We realized with geckos around the were less insects to bother us. A fair trade I'd say, so we gave our favorite gecko his name... Gordon. Fitting we thought.
The weather in early to mid November turned out to be good. Only 2 out of 6 days resulting in rain. Not normal for this time of year. We were lucky.
Overall, we had a very good time at Casa Paradisio and we hope that you will too...

First off...The owner and I are good friends...if we weren't, I would make it a point to meet him to know someone who has the ultimate get away from it all. If you are looking for five star service, go somewhere else...if you are looking for the coolest place to chill out and relax, walk on pristine beaches, swim in crystal clear water and enjoy romantic Panama as everyone should see it, look no further.
If you don't mind cooking your own food on a two-burner cooktop, 12 volt electricity for lights, cool showers, no a/C, just the most comfortable Caribbean ocean breezes imaginable, you are in for the treat of your life. I have never stayed in a Ritz- Carlton that was more comfortable that that beautiful little cottage over the water.
Michael and Christina are gracious hosts that guide you though the cottage and are available when and if you need them. Other than that, you are on your own to act like Robinson and Mrs. Crusoe.
One easy piece of advice...overplan your menu (there is refrigeration) and overplan your choice of beverages. You will have the time of your life.
Oh yeah, don't, under any circumstances go alone. Nobody will believe how cool it is, you need backup!!! -

We spent 3 nights here and left completely relaxed. The location on the southern tip of Bastimentos is a world away from the activity of Bocas town. This place is ideal for a couple who likes to swim or kayak (the water is very clear and warm, no waves and quite shallow until you go quite a ways out), go on day trips exploring the Zapatillas, the indigenous community of Salt Creek, or a cocoa farm run by friends of Michael's, or simply sit on your private porch looking out at the water. The kitchen is modest but perfectly suitable for vacation meal preparation; if you want fresh fish, you can walk down the beach and see what the local fishermen have caught. The excellent food of al Natural (dinner for $30/person, including alcohol) is within a half hour's walk down the beach if you reserve earlier in the day, or you can arrange to have 1-3 meals per day provided in the hut by a local chef. The hut seems larger than it appears in the photos, and felt more private than the nearby cottages along the shore because of its location over the water. It is is not the place for people who expect air conditioning, cable TV, etc., and you need to climb a set of ladder-like stairs to get to the bedroom/bathroom area. You may be visited by some small lizards or land crabs or insects: you are in the thick of nature here. But everything is very well maintained and we had all the electricity and hot water we needed. It's like camping in a private luxury hut. The caretakers and local guides, Michael and Christine, are very gracious and helpful: they give you the privacy you want but are available in a pinch if you need them. All told, we had a very nice stay and would definitely recommend Casa Paradisio to other couples who want to escape for a few days.

Eugene, OregonA beautiful place to get away from everything

The eight days we spent at Casa Paradisio were exactly what we expected and wanted. It is simple and romantic lodging in a gorgeous setting. The on-site caretakers, Michael and Christine, were wonderfully helpful and welcoming. If you plan well, bring the right food and drink with you, and don't expect a four star resort, you'll have an amazing experience.
