Vernon, British Columbia, CanadaA great find

Monkey Tree in Panama is the best place on earth. Bocas Town has experienced alot of growth over the last several years - but the Monkey Tree remains our favorite spot for location, private beaches, privacy and beauty. The casitas are impeccable - decorated in tasteful caribbean style they are extremely clean, comfortable and enjoyable.
I would highly recommend staying here. Weather your a family with young children, a couple of any age looking to relax, a group looking to enjoy the beach and site see. All of the beaches in the area are so clean and beautiful.
Heather is very friendly and accomodating. She's been in Bocas a long time, so knows everything that's happening around town, and can point you in the right direction of all the wonderful sites you can go see .
You will feel right at home and you won't be disappointed.
We hope to return soon ? -

Laguna Beach, CaliforniaGreat house for jungle and beach access.
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed at Monkey Tree for the Christmas/New Years holidays. The house was roomy and comfortable for our group. The open decks and screened living areas were ideal for viewing birds and monkeys on the property, and we could usually hear the crashing surf, too. It feels private and safe. The kitchen was well stocked and functional, as was the laundry area. Ron (the owner) was extremely helpful in providing information and tips on flights, tours, restaurants, services, taxis, etc. Bocas town was hopping over the holiday, and we were happy the house is in a quieter location, but still easily within reach of town. Our sons are avid surfers and were stoked to be within walking distance to Paunch Beach surfing every day. Carenaro and Bastimentos Island surf breaks were a simple (and cheap) water taxi away. It's Panama, so there was a lot of rain and humidity, but the fans were pretty effective at keeping us comfortable at night. Overall, a great vacation spot. We hope to return one day soon!

Mountain View, CAFantastic Holiday Vacation
Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We recently stayed at Casa Mono over the Christmas holiday. The house was everything it was advertised to be. We really liked the semi-remote location in Big Creek. Just enough out of town to be secluded, yet near enough to be able to bike or taxi in for supplies and dinner. Our group of 7, including 2 kids, found the house comfortable and functional. The open air screening really makes a difference in the main living area. You could always see and hear the jungle life as well as the nearby beach surf. There's enough vegetation surrounding the house to shelter you from your neighbors. The plumbing and other utilities were functional and kept up with us. Ron was a good host and was accessible if you needed him (we didn't for the most part). The property is gated and there is a local family on property to watch over the place (he's also a bit of a jungle guide). We were always alert while watching our 2 year old because of the elevation of the living area and the lack of any real support should she veer near the screen or the uncovered stair areas. She was also off limits up in the loft areas and porches. This wasn't the fault of the property owners, but if you have small kids you should be aware that it's not toddler safe (Ron was nice enough to attach some lattice work to the outside stairs so that we were a little less concerned. The only slight criticisms would be directed at our neighbors. There are a few other houses on property and nearby and on more than one occasion we had to suffer through loud, drunken partiers returning to their houses nearby and wanting to keep the party going. We were more early risers and had to ask them to pipe down. Not the property's fault, but something to be aware of. We would glad stay here again if we come in great numbers.

San Diego, CAPerfect House in Bocas
Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in November 2010
We rented Casa Mono for a week and it was perfect. The house is up on stilts surrounded by jungle, so it felt like a high end treehouse. The layout of the house is great for giving each bedroom lots of privacy and the beds were really comfortable. There is a great reef break within walking distance if you like to surf or swim when it's flat. Even though it is a short drive into town, I would suggest renting bikes for day trips.
Ron was very helpful with setting us up with local taxi drivers & boat captains to ensure that our trip went smoothly. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it for anyone staying in Bocas. We have been plotting our return since the day we left! -

Canvas, WVGreat Family Vacation
Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Our week in late February at Casa Mono was great! It was the perfect place to get away from winter in Colorado, West Virginia and North Carolina. The house was perfect for our family of 8 - our 2 sons, daughters-in-law and our 2 granddaughters (ages 4 and 7).
Having the bedrooms on 3 levels was perfect. The common, screened-in kitchen, dining and living room area was a definite plus. It was nice to be "up in the trees" and be able to fall asleep to the sound of the surf. We all enjoyed having a beach right across the road. The location of the house was the perfect distance from town, away from the crowds and close enough for a short taxi or bike ride.
Ron was a very good host. It was especially nice of him to arrange our transportation between albrook and Tocumen airports in Panama City.
Our family got to disconnect with the internet world and reconnect with each other sitting in the dark on two evenings when there were power outages (the new generator in town was acting up).
There were so many things to see and do in the area - zip-lining, snorkeling nearby and at Playa Estrella and Cayo Cay, a boat tour of Dolphin Bay, watching the surfers at Playa Paunch and walking to La Coralina.
