We stayed at Bird Watch to celebrate my 50th birthday. It was especially fun to watch the Birds DVD while staying in Bodega Bay since it was released in 1963, the year I was born. The house is lovely and very private. My husband particularly liked the kitchen and appreciated the sharp knives when cooking. We had a great time exploring the Russian River Valley and touring wineries by bike in Sonoma. And we had a fantastic dinner at Terrapin Bay right there in Bodega Bay. Loved the hot tub too.

A charming, well appointed house with a timeless waterside quality. You close the door from the street behind you and the rest of the world is suddenly remote; it's just you and ever changing Bodega Bay.
Annie and Chris are professional and a pleasure to deal with.
And yes, the bird life is really terrific! -

Beautiful home, and very comfortable.
We vacationed with another couple and this was the perfect size for the four of us. We were able to walk to dinner and were able to enjoy a beautiful morning walk to the ocean. Down the road where we ate breakfast we were able to watch seals hunting for their breakfast!!!
Everything was clean and the beds were super comfortable. I can't think of a thing we were lacking.
We would definitely stay here again! -

The Bird Watch was like being at home. Very comfortable and well appointed. Great kitchen for cooking and entertaining. The views are the best from all windows, very private feeling yet close enough to walk to restaurants. Annie is wonderful and accomadating. I would stay again, it was one of the best rental homes my husband and I have rented.

I live in Santa Rosa, but will have to say this is one of the most enjoyable vacations I've had and yet close to home.
There are numerous wineries, great shopping in surrounding areas and great restaurants. The home itself is quite comfortable and the views are incredible. I definitely look
forward to spending more time at Bird Watch in the near future -

When we walked in the door we realized that the online pictures did not do this place justice. The house was spectacular, super clean, incredible views off the back of the bay, and the kitchen was unbelievable. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to be far enough away from city life but close enough to enjoy many wonderful sites. We did not want to leave this place and you won't either. The owners did a great job also of recommending places to visit along with great eateries close by. We also enjoyed the book that they prepared for the guests. I could not envisioned a better place for a relaxing vacation. Thank you Chris and annie!!!

Had a lovely two day stay with visiting family from Wales at the Bird Watch cottage. Views were spectacular, house exceedingly comfortable, with a great kitchen for entertaining. 4 people stayed for the weekend and 4 additional family members came down to enjoy a great meal together. We all loved the well stocked kitchen and appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine, a very thoughtful touch.
Good location for bird watching. We would have no hesitation in returning and hopefully next time will have the opportunity to put to use the kayak and enjoy Bodega Bay to its fullest. -

Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We stayed at Bird Watch the last week of May, and it was a perfect get-away for us. My daughter and her partner joined us for a few days, and we enjoyed the chef's kitchen, watching the birds, hiking the beaches and the Redwoods, and enjoying wine country. All within easy driving range from Bird Watch, and then you can come back and relax in the hot tub, cook a nice meal, and watch 'The Birds' on the DVD. The previous guests had taken the check-out directions to turn off the heat literally, and our only slip was that we had to contact the local manager to come help us re-light the stoves. She was very helpful, and even sent my cell phone charger back to me after I forgot it. A wonderful property. Thanks.

My wife and I visited Bird Watch in late March and had a beautiful, amazing stay. We both had our sights on playing outdoors in Northern California, however, we found it very difficult to leave the comforts of this amazing home. We could have easily spent our four days just lounging in the comforts of the home, enjoying the first class kitchen, the panoramic views, the decks, the hot tub, the front row seating, etc. More than any other rental we've ever been in, we truly felt like we were in a home. Every detail is attended to. We can hardly wait to visit again.

Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in April 2012
My husband & I stayed at Bodega Bay Birdwatch april 6th & 7th. We wanted a special place to celebrate a special occasion - his 60th birthday. We couldn't have made a better choice. If you want to experience Bodega Bay up close and personal - you couldn't do it in a more luxurious way. The house is immaculate and jaw-droppingly gorgeous. It is every bit as beautiful as the photos. Step through the front door, and you face a wall of windows right on the bay, giving the illusion of being on a yacht. This is the upper level, which has a bedroom, bath, living room and open kitchen. Below is another bedroom, sitting area and bath. Each level has a deck that spans the width of the house. The decor is stunning - the house is new, and has been decorated in a modern, comfy style. Serene blue walls, marble floors, sparkly little abalone inlays in the ivory tile bathrooms. Every detail speaks of comfort and luxury - from the linens on the beds to the dual-person shower, huge tub, wolf stove, gigantic thermador refrigerator, nice 2-person hot tub. The kitchen is a dream. From behind the shiny granite counter, look across the open living room to your view of the bay. All the cooking supplies are top notch - would you believe sharp knives in a vacation rental? Even the coffee mugs and the salad spinner were impressive! There are lots of spices, teas and cooking oil, and a few more staples in the cupboard. If gazing over the water is not enough activity for you, there are books scrabble, loads of maps and brochures on things to do in the area, an ipod player, 2 TVs, wireless internet and stairs down from the lower deck to the water. We took the 10-minute walk from the house over to Doran Beach, and hung out there for a few hours in shorts & t shirts. We saw a whale spout right next to one of the Tall Ships that was out in the bay that weekend. There was just enough breeze to fly a kite. The house is dead quiet at night; it's on a quiet street, and we could hear no road noise, and both slept like rocks. I awoke early in the morning to watch the full moon sinking down over the harbor, as a line of fishing boats motored out for the day's fishing.
There are endless places to go in the area, but we mostly enjoyed just relaxing on the deck, cozying up by the fireplace with a book, and cooking. One particular highlight for us was when an Osprey flew eye-level right past the house with a giant fish in its talons - it then turned around and flew by again. An amazing sight to see. -

Amber and I arrived and were completely stunned by the house and it's location on the water, The beautiful views from the numerous windows that faced the water were awesome. The house was furnished with all the needed soaps, towels and toiletries and the kitchen was out of this world! all you needed was in that kitchen to make anything you might want.
I personally enjoyed sitting out on the deck for hours watching the tide roll in and out with the dozens of different species of birds feeding just yards away. Every morning the same gull perched on the railing and stood there looking in the windows for a couple of hours. Of course we named him Jonathan. At night we could hear the fog horn way off sounding every 10 seconds that was soothing for me. Thanks for allowing me at you're home. We will be back!!! -

Everything about the Bodega Bay Birdwatch exudes excellence. We watched sunsets every night and once in the hot tub. We cooked fresh oysters and crab in the gourmet, beautiful kitchen. The bathrooms were clean, spacious and a super upgraded. Each bedroom had a panoramic view of the bay. The master bedroom had private fireplace and deck that went down to the water in the bay. We saw three white pelican fighting over a fish. Every morning, we walked to the coffee shop that was just a minute away. We took a walk on the Bird Watch Trail to Doran beach. It was so much fun. We took a gorgeous drive down the coast to the historic Point Reyes light house.
We look forward to coming back to the Bodega Bay Bird Watch. -

My wife and I got married at the Oakmont Golf Course in Santa Rosa. We were heading for Las Vegas the following week. We were looking for a place to relax and spend some time together after all of stress that comes along with a weddding. We picked the perfect spot. When we arrived at the Birdwatch it was at night so we didnt do much poking around the first night. Much to my suprise the inside was very nice, clean and romantic. After walking in and seeing this amazing kitchen, I knew the next night I would be making a nice dinner for the two of us. The following day we woke up to an amazing view. Every room has the beautiful windows that look out into the sea. I was actually quite amazed when we woke up. Felt like we were on a high end cruise ship. We loved staying here. It was very nice, very clean, the hot tub was in great shape and felt great, very quiet. I could see this being a nice getaway for any age couple or even families as there is 2 bedrooms and plenty of space. 5 out of 5 for my wife and I!!!

house rihgt at the bay, walking distance (for Europeans) to the beach.Incredible kitchen (we went out for dinner only once). We loved to cook while we were watching the kite surfers. In Sebastopol at the whole foods Market they have fresh meat und fishand all kinds of fruit and vegetables. The farmer markets in different towns are great too. Very helpful the tourist information in Bodega Bay. They are very friendly and you get the newest infos about the area. If you come in summer don't forget to bring warm cloths. We had to buy some in SF. We had often like 58F in the morning and around 60F during the day. If the sun is out it is nice and warm. In the summer it is often very foggy. You drive over the hills (10min.) to Bodega and it is hot and sunny. We had a couple of wonderful sunstes but we heard they are more often in the other seasons.
But for those days you got the hottub, where you can relax and watch the birds in the bay and hear the sea/harbourlions from far.
The house is so great you don't mind a bad weather day. You can see from each room/kitchen over the bay. When you go to bed the last you see is the bay and when you open your eyes the first you see the bay and the birds (with or without water, the tides!!!)
SF is not far leaving at 9pm and driving back at 6am we never had much traffic on the freeway and on the country roads you are almost by yourself this time of the day.
The owner are such nice people we talked to amy over the phone and we hope that all the guests appreciate the house and take good care so that everybody can enjoy it as we did.

The only complaint I have is that we couldn't stay longer. This place is amazingly clean, well supplied and located in a beautiful area. It was a great place to stay away from the big city yet close to many wineries. The owners answer all emails promptly and are very accomodating. The photos of this home don't do it justice. It is a haven of relaxation where you can unwind, birdwatch or watch the wind surfers right outside your living room or bedroom windows. Be sure and try the clam chowder at Spud Point Crab Company. It is to die for! There is a DVD of alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" which is in the house and a must watch even if you've seen it before. We recognized all the places in the movie since it was filmed in Bodega Bay. Also, the drive to Willow Wood Cafe is well worth it. Its up in Grason which is only a 20-30 minute drive. Their breakfasts and lunches are amazing! Be sure and bring a jacket or windbreaker with you because even in July it got down in the 40's at night. Coming from the heat of Texas we didn't bring enough warm clothes and we were cold. Had no idea being on the Pacific coast would affect temperatures like that. You can't go wrong with staying here - well worth the price.

Saratoga Springs, New YorkNice House, but wouldn't stay there again
Left on 07/24/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Our west coast trip included three legs: San Francisco, Bodega Bay, and Yosemite. Bodega Bay and Bird watch were our least favorite of the three stops. We choose Bodega Bay because of the great pictures of Bird Watch on this website. The house itself is well done. What we didn't like about the stay was that it was covered with fog almost daily, it was 30 degrees cooler than one mile inland (in July), the water in the bay was almost always out, exposing acres of mud, and to get to most of our wine excursions took an hour drive (to Napa and Sonoma). The pictures show sun, birds, surfing, etc. We saw almost no evidence of these during our three day stay. The house was a place to sleep, and that is all. If I had to do it again, I would not choose to stay in Bodega Bay because it is too far from the action, and beach location was almost worthless to a beach lover. We drove up to Goats rock to see the seals, and it was foggy and cold the whole way up. Maybe we were niave New Yorkers who were unfamiliar with west coast weather and tide paterns, but we know now. Plant Bird Watch in a Napa or Sonoma wine town and it would have been lovely.
We write this review to prepare you better than we were prepared. Bring extra clothing layers, leave your beach gear at home, and plan on driving for one hour each way if your goal is wine country. Again, the house is great, but the weather, tides, and location were a bust; at least for us. Happy traveling.

We normally do not stay somewhere unless it has been reviewed favorably by others. Birdwatch was one of those places. It is exactly as previously described and more. We stayed at the end of March and went from 60 degree days on the Bay to 90 degrees in wine country. Staying at Birdwatch was very peaceful when we'd come home from day trips. We enjoyed the view of the bay and watching the tide go in and out right from the windows and decks. This house is right on the bay and in town but you never hear traffic or noise. If only we could have stayed longer. It is a little far from a good grocery store but we found the food at the local store that started with a D to be just fine for what we needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful home to friends and family.

My wife, son and I had a really great vacation at Bird Watch in Bodega Bay. The property was everything that they advertised. The Kitchen was fully stocked with all of the pots/pans/utensils that anyone could need. It was very clean and in order. We had a couple of minor issues. The ants were pretty bad, we had to be very clean...but they were still all over the place (we were warned). The internet was non-functional and I had to spend about four hours dealing with Comcast. The downstairs tub drain was a little tricky. Otherwise we were extremely satisfied and would most certainly stay there again. Great views. Wonderful home. Might be wise to put a gate at the top of the stairs so little ones don't fall down those hard/sharp stairs...but that is really the parent's responsibility.

The house is beautiful and sits right on the bay. It has a gourmet kitchen which was ideal for preparing Thanksgiving dinner. The downstairs bedroom is spacious while the second bedroom upstairs is small and lacks a closet. The house is ideal for two people but would be cramped for 4 adults. The floors are all stone which makes the downstairs a little noisey while people are upstairs. The was a minor problem since we had a light sleeping 9 month old. The owners were very helpful and provided a great deal of information about both the house and surrounding area. Overall a very positive experience.

Hi annie, What a jewl your Birdwatch is. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
its Sunday, and our last day here; i cant believe that the week has already come and gone. The memories we've made here perched over the bay enjoying the Tide going in and out & the birds coming and going, will stay in our hearts forever! From the time we walked in the door, we knew that this was going to be special! From the gormet kitchen to the luxury linens, the incredible soaking tub that has a view that stays in your mind long after your soak. The Fireplace's not only warm the rooms but make them glow just right.not to mention the fun we had in the Hot Tub after exploring all that the Bodega area has to offer. Having Birdwatch trail right outside our door was great, a qiuck trip by bike, and we were sitting enjoying Doran Beach. Our other outings brought us to Wrights Beach, always a favorit of mine. We also made it to armstrong for a nice easy hike & picnic. Today, our last day & we're headed across the way to the Bodega Bay Volenteer Fire Dept. picnic. We've got to support "The Brothers" as my husband would say. Anyway our stay was just what our family needed before all the back to school maddness starts, and we all go back to our go go go lives!!! Thank you both again. We look forward to returning again someday!

Walking into the charming Bird Watch was such a stress reliever after the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. Pictures presented on the website don't completely give you the true feel of this place. It seems so much bigger than we expected. Great floor plan, state of the art kitchen, double out door deck, wireless internet access, luxurious hot tub (we used daily), oh and the most amazing view of the bay. Bird Watch sits on the edge of a quiet road away from people and traffic. The house and deck are perched directly above Bodega bay, nestled neatly among the trees. We were right on the water. In fact, we could kayak directly up to the house for lunch. My husband, daughter and I spent the first half hour just exploring Bird Watch giggling saying, "can you believe this place.” Annie and Chris sure didn't cut corners when they planned this sweet little getaway. Annie was very helpful recommending many wonderful daily excursions in Sonoma County, down to the best beaches, trails, wineries, and places to dine. Although, one should definitely dine in as much as possible, as the kitchen and sunsets are two of the best features of the house. We enjoyed birding right off the deck, hiking, kayaking, wind surfing and kite board watching. Hope to have a go at it next time around. It was so sad when it came time to leave. Thanks Chris and Annie for sharing your beautiful home away from home. We will definitely be back.

The house is amazing. The bird watching is beyond anything you could imagine. I love the little sandpipers. The house was done in my colors so I walked in the front door and didn't want to leave. My experience there was phenominal! Friends came to visit for the day or for dinner. We did a lot of Bbqing. The kitchen has everything you could think of. The location of the house is absolutely magical. One warning for sun worshippers, it is Bodega Bay; therefore, it is not sunny every day. I was happy just to be there; however, I did hear some whining from the sunlovers. I could easily spend the rest of my life in that house and be completely satisfied. I want to thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to stay there. I will come back as often as I am able. Thanks, again!

When I first contacted annie, she was pleasant and helpful. As we settled on a date for our visit, her excitement and enthusiasm made planning our vacation even more fun! And we found Bodega Bay Bird Watch a delightful place to stay while visiting Sonoma County. The home itself is perfect from its view of the bay to the wonderful kitchen and comfy beds. We were pleased with its location, watching the ebb and flow of the tide, enjoying evening 'entertainment' as windsurfers and parachute surfers glided across the sparkling water and enjoying the antics of the sea birds searching for today's meal. The location of the home made it easy to spend all day exploring Sonoma County beaches or enjoying a wine tasting (or two!) at a nearby winery. The only problem is deciding what to do with your day: the water or wine? I highly recommend staying at Bird Watch. If we have our way, we'll be back soon for another visit!

We loved sitting on the deck upstairs and downstairs amongst the tree the deck was built around listening to the birds, watching the windsurfers and the tides come in and go out. Annie's suggestions for places to eat, wineries to visit and other sites to see added even more to the enjoyment of our stay. Can't wait to return.

If there was one thing missing, it was the lack of kitchen amenities for tea drinkers.

thing I could find to mention that wasn’t perfect. We’ve walked the trail thru the marsh

winery finds on the deck eating cheese and great bread. Snuggled under the down

This is a bright, open, modern home equiped with everything you need, right above Bodega Bay. The main floor has a bedroom and bath and living area open to a top of the line kitchen. The entire lower floor is a master suite. The rear of both floors is mostly glass so we had a great view of the many wind and kite surfers on Bodega Bay.
We chose this home because our kids, grandkids, and great grandkids could camp nearby and we could all be together for a family celebration. The home couldn't have worked out better. When everyone came over, the well equiped open kitchen and decks made it easy to feed the group. When the kids wanted to get away, them could watch videos below, or take the stairs down to the mud flats and explore. -

This home is so perfect for two couples-a comfortable main level bedroom and bath, and a really special master suite one level down. Both levels have impressive view of the bay-no impediments to the view, and the fog rolls and out, the birds are there all the time, and there is no other sound but nature. The kitchen is gourmet-and you will not need to buy anything but food--they have pot, pan and utensil you would ever need! We purchase fresh fish each night from the vendor up the street, and had a fabulous meal each time. We visited redwoods, wineries, and the Pacific ocean. The owners could not have been more accommodating, and we were so thrilled to spend time in their lovely home-it was even better than the descriptions!

First of all, what an AMAZING place! The property description is spot on. We
were happy-giddy little kids as we explore the house for the first time, and it
did not disappoint. If you are looking to relax and enjoy cooking, look no
more as this is the perfect place to be. The abundance of windows allow you to
connect with nature without being outside. My kid and nephew couldn't wait
to explore outside the balcony every morning as the tide dissipates. The well
stocked kitchen was the focal point and great for families who likes to gather
and cook together. We were able to take advantage of the fresh seafood
available within walking distance.
Lastly, corresponding with Annie was a breeze. She was very helpful and
accommodating. We were lucky to have found this place and can't wait to go

Birdwatch is a beautiful experience nestled between the trees at Bodega Bay. The gourmet kitchen is just as pictured as are the views from the great room and master suite downstairs. This home is close enough to enjoy walks at Doran Beach and to/from some Bodega Bay eateries. We based our wine tasting adventure from Bodega Bay because some of our party are not wine drinkers and wanted an escape. Birdwatch provides just that! We enjoyed lovely drives daily to Napa, Sonoma, and along 101, yet our favorite time was on the deck at Birdwatch sampling our tasting purchases!

We had a wonderful escape at Bird Watch. The kitchen is a great place to cook, the peacefulness of the bay was calming at night, and when the wind picked up during the day, we windsurfed! The best part - sitting on the deck, shucking oysters and tossing the empties on the beach below for the seagulls to finish up. Then we watch "The Birds". Service was great, I left a pair of shoes there and the showed up on my doorstep within a week.

I can't wait to come back to Birdwatch. It is the best vacation home we have ever rented and that includes vacations to Kauai, Maui, Tahoe and Lake Michigan. I was amazed with the high quality of all the surfaces and the incredible views and all those shorebirds that make the best sounds all day long. Being able to walk to dinner at Lucas Wharf and have Fisherman's stew was the added bonus to top off our perfect days. Also, since we love to hike, being able to hike on the coastal trail that connects to the Bird Loop and then to Doran Beach and all the way down to the Estero Americano at low tide was an incredible natural history hike.

Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in June 2009
Chris and Annie McNeil have turned what appears to be on the outside a rather plain home into a warm, inviting, and totally aesthetic delight. Our family likes to find a place to hang for long periods before venturing out, and Bird Watch fit the bill to a tee. It's a perfect place to read, to meditate, to cook, and to watch the changing scene outside. And when you're ready you can walk through the bird sanctuary to the ocean, or drive (or run) to Bodega Head, or if you are a pool swimmer and a bit too compulsive like me, you can drive to Sebastapol at 5 AM for an early morning swim. But the part that really made it for us, was that every time we walked in the door, and smelled the freshness of the bay, and felt the warmth of the house, we were just glad to be there.

Aspen, ColoradoNaturally gorgeous, well located, and well appointed.
Left on 12/15/2009 for a stay in November 2009
I wasn't so sure about 'Bird Watch' at first – I'm not much of a bird watcher. But, besides being much more than just a gorgeous home with breathtaking views, you actually catch yourself, absolutely still, rapt, watching a bird slowly hunt, or a flock make a round in the harbor.
The kitchen is large and professional level. It is situated to look out at the bay. And the home is private. It's right on a side road, but the house is situated 100% toward the ocean and Bodega Head. There's a fence on the road side and not many windows. The other side is all windows and decks. So, for example, even though the hot tub is close to the road, you wouldn't know it when soaking.
There are fishing boats and kitesurfers just out in front of the place. The beach is an easy walk away. You can see it from the decks of the house.
The owners are obviously into ocean sports and the sea. Not only are there pictures of their exploits around Northern CA, but the home has beach and sea colors, motifs. Not cheesy, but harmonious with the surroundings.
The master bedroom is situated to see the harbor and the sky over Bodega Head. It is a large king bed with a sitting area, tv, fire place, large tub, etc. Beware, the toilet isn't so private, so anyone sharing a room with someone else will be sharing the bedroom AND bathroom with that person.
There are two bedrooms: a master downstairs and another upstairs. When people are in bed, there's privacy and not much noise is heard. When people are in the common areas, that noise travels pretty easily to the downstairs master bedroom area.
Finally, Bird Watch is well located. Private, but still walking distance to the beach AND to restaurants. This seems fairly unique in the area. Many of the places we saw had only one of these two features.
Overall, Bird Watch is an example quality over quantity. It's not huge, but it is comfortable, private, well appointed, and well worth the visit.

We loved staying at Birdwatch for a family getaway to wine country. The views were great when the fog cleared. The house is a little from the major winery towns, but the scenic drives to and from were great. The house is beautiful, especially the kitchen. Great for a chef. The only downside was the lack of privacy for the master bedroom. There is no door, so sound transmits up and down the stairs very clearly. The town was very cute with several restaurants to suit all budgets.

Loved the location and proximity to whatever you need. We shared it with another couple, but the house is really suited for no more than one couple and a single due to the size of the upstairs bedroom which provided no closet space and barely enough room to move around the bed. We made it work with no difficulties, but this kind of information should be disclosed on the website. Nice kitchen, great views, access to Doran Beach... we did have a wonderful time.

Hi Rose,
I wanted to let you know that we really valued your feedback and so we ordered a new bedside nightstand and dresser to help ease the lack of space in which to comfortably put a suitcase! Pottery Barn came through in a blaze of glory and we sincerely hope this helps. As far as the structural design of that bedroom, well, we were unable to get a permit to expand the house envelope.... being in a sensitive coastal zone, it was prohibitive and therefore we completely remodeled what existed. It is a cozy room, luckily with spectacular views of the water!! Best, Annie -

Our long weekend at Bird Watch was one of the most comfortable and memorable stays we've ever had at the coast. You can be any closer to the water; especially when the tide is in. You literally feel perched atop the bay. On our first night the sky was crystal clear. We were able to pick out constellations from the comfortable master bed ,looking out the open french doors with the fireplace glowing beside us. Magical. Our family was able to spread out in our own beautiful rooms yet we all could come together in the expansive, beautifully decorated kitchen/living and dining spaces. It is a wonderful place to relax or entertain. The views are something to be seen and experienced. Kite surfers appear to fly by along with the windsurfing spectacular in full view. These sights can be experienced from every room, even the gorgeous master bathtub. It was a delight to watch it all, from the hot tub, no matter what the weather. In addition some of the most spectacular countryside and events are nearby(wine country,Russian River, world class dining...) We highly recommend Bird Watch for you next visit to the Northern California coast.

A Very Experienced Vacation Home Renter
Bellevue, WashingtonIt doesn't get any better than this.
Left on 09/17/2009 for a stay in August 2009
My family has rented vacation homes throughout the world (Europe, Asia, Hawaii) and suffice it to say, Bird Watch at Bodega Bay is hands down the best rental experience we have ever had. There are several reasons for this, but here are the most important ones. First, the photos are truly reflective of the property because you really get what you see. The home is intelligently designed and constructed with the highest quality materials throughout, from the orientation of every room that maximizes the waterfront views and privacy to the choice of flooring, fixtures, and appliances. I recently purchased a second home in Hawaii that I am completely remodeling. When I marveled at the quality of Bird Watch to the owners, Chris and Annie McNeil, their response was that in building their home they were very fortunate to have worked with an amazingly talented architect who also happened to be a very good friend. Secondly, the home is incredibly well maintained. I tend to be a perfectionist and a bit of a clean freak, so I typically anticipate needing to invest time to give the property a thorough cleaning in order to meet my high standards whenever I rent a vacation home. In the case of Bird Watch, it is so well maintained that I felt a little silly going through my usual "check in cleaning routine." Both bathrooms and the kitchen (rooms that get the most use) were spotless when I arrived. Last but not least, the property is very well managed. The owners, as well as their property manager, Alana, were consistently available, helpful, accommodating, and gracious. I was fortunate to have stayed at Bird Watch for an entire month, and I always felt that my comfort and happiness were their number one concern. As far as vacation rentals go, it really does not get any better than this.
The negative to writing such a glowing review for a vacation rental is the property will be less available when I want to return. Truth be told, Bird Watch is simply too special not to share. -
