Quaint home with a great view, but the interior made me want to

Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012

This adorable little "cabin" was in a lovely location. In a neighborhood full of larger towering homes, this little home was a welcome sight. We titled it the "Ron Weasley" house! We really liked that it was fully stocked with the items needed in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedroom. The outside is cute, the inside is tidy enough but rather dated. Just a few renovations would take this home from a three star to five star in a heartbeat! I had to move the bed away from the half wall in the loft (because I had small children) and the floor was covered in pet hair, as was the sun room. The sun room windows also had a leak during the big storm that happened while we were there. The layout and floor plan is fun but like I said, it needs to be updated. (Mainly the flooring and furniture)We did really like the appliances and access to the washer/dryer. Sitting in the sunroom at night was neat because you could see the stars so well and the moon reflecting on the bay was amazing! It was quick and easy access to the wedding location as well which was extremely handy.

Great house, nice views of the bay, close to the ocean, beautiful bathtub for two. Really needs to have a bigger bed than a double however. We'd really sleep better with at Least a Queen. We loved the fully stocked kitchen and fireplace.

We had a great time despite the house.

Left on 12/03/2011 for a stay in November 2011

The view was nice. The kitchen had everything we needed. The pillows and chairs we dirty. The fire place wasn't clean and it got smokey in the house every time we tried it.
We arrived in the dark and couldn't find the number. When we did, we pulled into the driveway and up to the house. In the morning I came out and saw that the driveway had an edge and the the tire to my car was sitting on the edge and part of it was over. I could have wrecked my car if I had gone another couple of inches.

Outstanding location to dress for my daughters wedding!

Left on 10/23/2011 for a stay in September 2011

My daughter was married October 1 on the beach then a reception at the Bodega Harbor Yacht Club. Her dog was in the wedding, but not invited to the reception. Heron view is about 1000 yards from the beach, for the wedding--convenient for dressing, and dog friendly, so the dog could go back to the condo while we celebrated at the reception. We will return--it is now a destination for the wedding party. I think the condo's owners should upgrade the condo's furnishings and linens, and promote it for the close proximity to the wedding venue. We slept well at the place, comfortable with a wonderful view.

      Needed a place to rest

Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in October 2011

My partner, myself, and our chihuahuas came to Heron View after going through the loss of my mother. We needed a quiet, restful place with a view. This was the perfect place. It was raining when we arrived, and we set about to make a meal. This place is very well stocked, and cozy.
We walked the dogs on the beach every day it didn't rain. Highly recommended.

Loved being able to bring our little dog along, she had a nice big lot next door to walk her.

      R & R

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in August 2011

This is our annual family (+ dog) trip to get away from our busy lives for some R&R.; The staff @Bodega Bay & Beyond Vacation Home Rentals were friendly, helpful & flexible in setting us up with the appropriate accommodation.
Heron View was perfect...there were enough nooks in this house for our family of 4 for alone time and comfortable enough for the family times. The sun room on the upper level was a big plus...view of lake/ocean/sunset/deer/quails! Other things we liked were the free wireless internet access; well supplied kitchen; many sofas...one for each person! Heron View is located at the end of the drive; nothing blocked our view of the great sunsets; Doran Beach was within walking distance.

We didn't take advantage of the amenities, so can not comment; our family used this time to relax and do nothing!

      Very Good; Not 'Excellent'
1.) On our last night as we were sitting down to dinner, we were startled by a solicitor/surveyor who peered through the front windows of the house and made his way through the bushes to the back door (he didn't even try to knock on the front door)...where were the security personnel?
2.) Home has a rustic-look; great ambiance...one drawback-when opening windows, keep fingers away from the wood...splinters.
3.) On last night, the spiders emerged to bit us good-bye.

(a bigger TV would have been nice, but...)
Overall, I would stay at this house again. I would probably recommend to others, but want to keep this a secret hiding place for our family!!!

      Relaxing 70's Throw Back

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

I received excellent service from Bodega Bay and Beyond staff when reserving this home. We were pleased with the both the location and the size of the house and it matched with what the online description listed.
We liked the kitchen with the island and open room feel that allowed us to cook and hang out together. We also enjoyed the porch upstairs because of the awesome view! The master bedroom bed is very comfy!

Downside would be that the furniture in the living room is very dated and very uncomfortable with the exception of the two chairs with ottomans. Much of our late night time there was spent sitting around drinking wine and watching tv and the couches were just not working in the comfort department.
Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. Very cool home with 70's throw back feel which we really like. It's perfect for peace and quiet due to it's location and the view can't be better. Oh and bonus! This home is pet friendly so it was especially nice to have out two little doggies with us the entire weekend enjoying our stay!

We love the house and hope to stay there again next year. It is well stocked and cozy. thanks

      Good place for pet vacation.

Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011

This is vintage coast architecture. Although suffering from deferred maintenance, this is a classic coast vacation home circa early 70's. It is well designed and in a great location with a million dollar view. Hope the owner doesn't change the "bones" of the place if they ever renovate. This home needs upgrades to furnishings and fixtures; but the age of these made it less stressful for having a pet there.

Amazing views in a rustic "cabin"

Left on 05/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We have rented this home many, many times through the years. The view of the marsh, the beach, the bay, the harbor, Bodega Head, and every sunset is spectacular, bring us back again and again. We truly let-down and relax there.
Be mindful (and patient) this is an older vacation home. It is showing its age. But, we have noticed that the owners have been repairing and replacing doors, appliances, etc.
Life had special environments in the 1960's and 1970's, and this place reminds one of why.

Left on 04/17/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We really enjoyed our brief stay at Heron View. Bodega Bay & Beyond was pleasant to work with and the house fit most of our requirements; small, comfortable, semi-private, nice view, and walking distance to the beach. Lots of day trips were available. This time we did the Zip Line in Occidental and dinner in Sebastopol.

Left on 03/31/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We always enjoy our stay with the Bodega Bay and Beyond properties. The upstairs sun room was toasty and the view relaxing.

The 3 yo twins weren't to be trusted sleeping in the upstair loft bc of the view to the living room down below.

The master bedroom seemed a bit cluttered with older chairs and furniture but the views were spectacular.

The neighbors were friendly but the weather the stormy!

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Heron View is one of the older houses in the golf course development and is a little on the rustic side. The view is great and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the music provided through the cable TV. The bed was not the most comfortable and I would have preferred not to have go go up upstairs to shower.
We did enjoy a very relaxing weekend.

Superb view & location for dogs

Left on 02/18/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Heron View is perfect for a solo or couple retreat, and absolutely pet friendly. My 3 little dogs and I enjoyed the proximity to grassy areas, wetland trails and the beach. I saw several birds on the local trail, heron, egret, mallards and Canadian geese. The beach is a gentle bay, easy to walk. The house is cozy and the firewood plentiful. My only reason for 4 stars on comfort & service were: 2 living room chairs were pretty worn and the entertainment center should have printed directions. Everything important was perfect!

Beautiful location, wonderful view from every part of the house. Minutes away from fine dining and totally stocked kitchen. You can sit in the bathtub and watch the sun go down over the ocean. Absolutely lovely place. A little pricey, but well worth it - we want to come back. Only downside was that we couldn't figure out the internet.

      Beautiful Setting

Left on 12/19/2010 for a stay in November 2010

We loved the location and view from the house. Having deer right outside our windows was a big plus for our 3 year old grandson. The only negative (and to me it was quite significant) was the condition of the the bath linens and the kitchen equipment. The upstair towels were raggedy and should be replaced. The dishes in the kitchen were cracked and chipped. Many of the utensils were rusty looking. The one available cookie sheet was so scratched and rusty that I had to cover it with aluminum foil to use it.

Left on 08/19/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Peggy in checkin seemed obsessed in not accommodating early checkin. Kept talking about the cleaning schedule even though the house had not been occupied for several days. Kept talking about how many houses they rent.

The house had beautiful views and really enjoyed the outdoor areas. Furnishings and decor outdated, and the kitchen even though clean did not appear to be due to the outdated surfaces.

      Good seaside stay

Left on 07/05/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We loved Heron View because it was cozy and close to the beach. We only had a few things that would have made it better: (1) the queen size bed is old and uncomfortable; I had to go the chiropractor after sleeping in it for a week; how about a new king-size bed? (2) There is a mildewy smell in the house, (3) the map provided by the rental firm (online) makes the house seem a lot closer to the beach than it is; the online map shows a trail that does not match the actual walking route to the beach. Nevertheless, it's charming house and, given a new bed, we would certainly stay there again. If it were on the market, we would even want to buy it!

Heron's View is one of the oldest properties in the development but boasts one of its best views and location. It is very private and has all the comforts of home. Although the home could obviously do with a little renovation and new furniture, the modest price appropriately reflects its condition. The property was very clean and Bodega & Beyond were very efficient. We had a very relaxing time and recommend this property and agency without reservation.
