I have rented Whale Watch about 5 times now and I will keep coming back. It is a lovely home - very comfortable and best of all dog friendly. The neighborhood is very quiet and the views from the living room are amazing. We love to cook and the kitchen is very well appointed. The beds are comfortable as is all the furniture. I can sit for hours on the couch in the living room just watching the ocean. I look forward to my next vacation at Whale Watch.

32349Excellent -- but call first to check conditions
Left on 01/18/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed here for 3 days and had a wonderful time, after a rocky start. We arrived after a long drive and looked forward to relaxing with a fire, a soak in the spa, maybe some TV to check the weather forecast. The spa water was filthy -- cloudy and reeking of chemicals -- it was not fit for use. The Comcast remote for the television was missing so we could not watch TV (the TV was locked onto the Disney Channel). The firewood was all large logs that with no kindling so the little chemical firestart packets couldn't get them going. The staff apologized but nothing could be done that day, so we felt we lost the fun of our arrival day.
The staff came the next day, admitted the spa water was terrible and drained/refilled it. They said it wasn't their policy to supply kindling, just the little firestarters and no one had complained about it before us. As to the remote, well, they didn't have any replacements but would call the previous guest to ask where it was; I guess they couldn't reach them as we never received anything to make the TV work.
Aside from these three things, the rest of the visit/house was great!
The view was clear and wide, easily enjoyed from various rooms -- and we enjoyed it tremendously. The house was spotless, exceptionally comfortable, completely stocked with all sorts of kitchen appliances/dishes/spices/etc. and the rooms were just beautiful. We bought some kindling/firestarters in town and enjoyed fires in the evening after hikes on the beach and through the neighborhood each day. We could tell that this house was special and we'd return to it in an instant. It's a pet-friendly home, even has a dog-washing station in the garage -- but the house was spotless with no hint that any animal had ever been in it. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly.
There were helpful little notes here and there to explain how to use things, which we thought were very thoughtful. There were even jackets in the closet for those who might visit and not understand the unique climate of the Coast. The layout was spacious and we'd definitely stay here again. However, before we arrived we would call to get assurance that the TV would work, that the spa water was fresh, and we'd bring along some beefy fire starters.
Our thanks to the owners -- they shared a wonderful place with us and we enjoyed it tremendously. -

We've stayed at Whale Watch for four Thanksgivings and three Easters. The home is well situated affording beautiful sunsets and well-maintained golf greens. We appreciate the "updates" which show up occasionally. This last visit, there was no garage door opener which necessitated getting out of car, going upstairs and then down to the garage to open the door. This is hazardous due to the extremely steep driveway.

This home was just perfect for our family (2 adults, 2 children). We had one day of sunshine, one stormy day and one partly cloudy day - it was perfect. The house was equipped with everything you could think of or need to make wonderful family meals. I cannot say enough good things about this home and look forward to returning in the very near future.

And your attention to the functioning of the tv and our wireless hookup was timely - and appreciated. -

We stayed at Whale Watch, which is a very nice house. The bathrooms are a little small but the king size beds in both bedrooms are comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and the skylight in the center of the living area lets in lots of light. We had sun, wind, rain, sun, wind, etc. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I have been using the services of Bodega Bay and Beyond for several stays since July 2006. One of our favorite places to stay (when it's just he and I) is whale watch. We love the home. The owners have done such a beautiful job of opening their home to couples like us and we truly appreciate all they have done to make our stay so comfortable. We love everything about the place and were pleasantly surprised by the gift certificate to Gourmet au Bay. We love our time at Whale Watch and thank the owners again for allowing us to temporarily call this place home for one week out of the year... Very sincerely, Blake and Jamie

RenoWhale Watch, Bodega Harbor
Left on 07/15/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We love the home Whale Watch with its ocean views and proximity to Pinnacle Gulch and the beach. The Harbor is quiet and beautiful.
We were very disappointed however to learn that usage of the tennis courts and pool was not extended to non-residents. The club did not even allow for a day-usage fee. The withholding of those privileges made the atmosphere there unwelcoming, as if to send the message that vacationing tenants are somehow second-class.
We feel that for the price of a week-long rental, a way to use the amenities should be included. This may significantly affect our decision on where to stay next year.Response from Bodega Bay & Beyond Vacation Home Rentals - 07/16/2010

Thank you for sharing this with us. Bodega Bay & Beyond has been a long-time steadfast advocate for the establishment of a day-use fee for the facilities at the Bodega Harbour Clubhouse, but for years our efforts have not brought a change to their policy. We wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of the situation, and have forwarded your review to the General Manager of Bodega Harbour. He will in turn share it with the President of the Board of the Homeowners Association, which is the body responsible for policy change. We appreciate you staying with us, and hope that you do consider staying with Bodega Bay again.

Nice service. We loved the home - it's the best one we've rented in all the years we've been coming to Bodega Bay. It's furnished very comfortably with many ammenities. We've been vacationing in Bodega Bay for the past 25 years and always rented from Bodega Bay Vacation Rentals (I think that's what they were called) and the homes were just okay but always had several really irritating problems, i.e., mold, tacky furniture, ill-equipped kitchens, etc. We love the area and enjoy going over to the Sonoma wine country to spend a day. I'm a pleinair painter so the areas both around Bodega and the wine country are very compelling to me . We would definitely like to rent Whale Watch again.

The house was spectacular. there wasn't a bad view from any room. The hot tub was fun. We didn't lack for any amenity as everything was in the house. The decor was nice. The bed was very soft. The tv was hd and plasma and the wi-fi came in handy. We left feeling relaxed and happy and can't wait for our next visit. P.S. But I do think when people are celebrating an anniversary or a birthday that it would be good service and appreciated to comp a bottle of champagne or cider for those who don't drink.

Whale Watch was by far the most equipped kitchen we've yet to experience! Our gourmet getaways are anticipated year round by our two spouses...and the main criteria is the KITCHEN! Whale Watch not only provided every imaginable utensil, but also had bowls, plates, pans, and just everything! The beds were comfy, the spa CLEAN, the view wonderful. The surprise was the birds...especially the quail! We will definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this home. Perfect for two couples. It has a wonderful view and is equipped like my own home. It is maintained beautifully too. We were able to take our dog and we so appreciated that. If two couples would like to come to Bodega, I highly recommend the Whale Watch. The beds were so comfy that I hated to get up in the morning. It is unusual to have such wonderful mattresses in a rental.

We rented "Whale Watch" from Bodega Bay & Beyond for a week and are so very happy we did. The house is lovely, extremely comfortable and very well appointed with fabulous views. Everything was very clean and the floorplan was perfect. The front and back yards are beautiful and we enjoyed spending time both indoors and out. It was a pet friendly home and we were able to take our much loved dog Oscar along and he felt right at home. We highly recommend this house and Bodega Bay & Beyond was wonderful to deal with also. Thanks for the great coffee and salt water taffy! We will be looking forward to another visit to Whale Watch in the near future!

Left on 09/06/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Wow! What a great house! It was a perfect place to celebrate my birthday. This home has the best equipped kitchen of any rental home we have ever stayed in. Which was great for foodies like us! The layout of the home was great and well thought out. The view of the bay, ocean, jetty and Bodega Head were fantastic. We could have stayed on the couch the whole time and stared at the view. The hot tub was very nice and enjoyable. The hot tub doesn't really have any view but very private. The bed was very comfortable. We especially liked that this is a pet friendly home. So it was a real treat to bring the "Hairy Children" along. Bodega Bay and Beyond make it so easy to rent a vacation home. The staff is friendly and helpful. We called the office the day we arrived and asked if we could possibly get in a tad bit early. Marissa told us that we would have to wait until the regular check-in time because the house was still being cleaned. But I'll be darn if Marissa didn't call us back on my cell phone within two minutes! She told us that they had just finished cleaning Whale Watch and we could go in early. We greatly appreciated her taking the time to do that! But that is how great Bodega Bay and Beyond is!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Whale Watch. The house had everything we needed including a wonderful view. The open floorplan is so nice and made it so easy to enjoy our meals together. And we enjoyed having a hot tub at the end of a busy day of whale watching (yes, we saw whales at Bodega Head), seal watching and tide pool searching. Layout -- perfect for a couple or small family; new kitchen; very comfortable bedroom; well-furnished living room with incredible view (especially the sunsets) and great entertainment system.
Look -- view out over the golf course to the ocean, the bay, and Bodega Head.
The whale-theme decor is fun, modern, artistic. You can walk or drive to beach access. Well- equipped kitchen for dinner in. Everything about this home is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Great place to relax, rest, enjoy the quiet.
