Apartment Portakal is a privately owned apartment available for short or long term rent at Horizon Sky Resort, near Bodrum, Turkey, only 45 minutes away from the Bodrum International Airport. "Portakal" means "orange" in Turkish, and it is an appropriate name for this beautiful apartment nestled on the hills of the Aegean sea, with magnificent views from every room. In the fall months driving around the little villages nearby, you can smell the citrus in the air, and see the oranges, lemons, and clementines every where you look.

Apartment Portakal is located in the Horizon Sky Resort and meets the highest European standards in design, quality and finish. An escape from the stresses of the daily grind, Horizon Sky Resort is an oasis. Spend the day soaking up the Mediterranean sun, or sipping cocktails around the pool. Walk around the relaxation gardens that hold exotic plants, fountains, and waterfalls. A beautiful and relaxing setting, Horizon Sky is nestled on the sun drenched slopes of Iasos (Kiyikislacik), Turkey. The Resort occupies the perfect spot, with views of small islands and the blue Aegean stretching in front.

Sun drenched beaches: Our favorite beach, Jasmine beach, is a five minute drive or a short hike away. It has multiple restaurants, and many sun loungers and parasols. The beach is all sand, and the sea is warm, sandy and crystal clear. Never very crowded, it is a perfect escape!

There is another beach just down the hill from Horizon Sky (waking distance). It has a sign posted to the right at the approach to what was the steep slope to the jetty. It is close although it can get crowded. It has a large restaurant; very cheap and friendly staff.

Iasos: Iasos is an ancient town is in the village of Kiyikislacik, about 5 km to Horizon Sky. There are dolmus (minibuses) that go by Horizon Sky and can take you to Kiyikislacik in a matter of minutes. This is still a small fishing village. The historical site is impressive. Apart from the well-preserved agora, bouleterion, theatre and The Temple of Artemis Astias (dedicated to the Goddess Artemis) , "Fish Market" - a funerary monument in the form of a Corinth temple, is the most impressive construction dating from the Roman period. It is located inside the courtyard and consisted of four columns on the forth side. "Fish Market" was restored to be used as an open air museum in 1995. The excavations in Iasos started by an Italian team in the head of Prof. Dr. Doro Levi in 1960, and continued by Dr. Fede Berti until today.

Corendon Spa: ​This is a nearby spa a popular destination for Horizon Sky vacationers, that has a free shuttle that comes and picks you up, all you have to do is call 0543 399 3811 to reserve a shuttle to CORRENDON SPA & HEALTH CENTER.

Gulluk: ​​Gulluk is a sleepy little fishing town and a great destination that is just a 30 min. boat ride away. It has many grocery stores, a really nice bakery where you can taste a variety of Turkish deserts, cafés, bars, restaurants, banks, a family health center and many other amenities. The town promenade stretches along the water and you can find several nice restaurants around here. The town has an authentic Turkish farmers market that sets up every Thursday where you can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. It is very cheap and a unique experience. Gulluk also has minibuses called “dolmus” (pronounced dole-mush) that you can take to other nearby towns of Bodrum (a very popular tourist destination 45 minutes away), and Milas (a bigger city just 20 minutes away, with a fantastic farmers market that is a must have experience, setting up every Tuesday).

Bodrum: The castle town of Bodrum can be easily reached by taking the free boat to Gulluk. A 35 min drive from Gulluk in either a taxi or the local dolmus bus will take you to Bodrum, a buzzing thriving, artisan community where tradition goes hand in hand with designer labels, jewelry and leather goods amid local street markets. The town of Bodrum is steeped in culture, history and tradition, offering plenty to be explored. Bodrum’s street markets are a must have experience. The castle and the underwater archaeology museum inside is very interesting. Bodrum is famous with its night life and restaurants.​​

  Fantastic holiday at apartment Portakal, Horizon Sky

  We stayed at apartment Portakal last august, this was our 1st holiday to Turkey and we were most impressed, so much so that we have booked to go back again this year!
  The apartment is simply beautiful with stunning views of the aegean, we loved the location of this apartment as it was in a very private part of the complex with a large garden. Horizon sky is a great complex, offering a large pool where the children made lots of friends but also several quieter pools for when you wanted to get away from it all.
  The boat trips to Gullick and back are wonderfully relaxing, once in Gulluck there are lots of good places to eat all very reasonably priced. The local people are extremely friendly & can't do enough to help. Lots of great places to visit, the market in Milas was fascinating and unbelievably cheap!
  The local beach is Jasmine beach, a small safe bay with some good places to eat & pedalos for hire, the team at Horizon Sky will take you there and back if you don't want to brave the hills on a hot day.
  I would definately recomend both the apartment and resort for anyone looking to get away from it all whike still having home comforts and enough to keep the children happy!
