Travel Man
ChicagoCozy, well equipped and great location!
Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Pietro, the owner of this apartment, greeted us with a bottle of wine and short tour of the amenities. A very delightful man with a lovely wife who made us feel very comfortable during our initial arrival. We thank you for the wonderful stay Pietro!
Note: Pietro speaks little English, even though emails are in English, so fire up the laptop and google translate any questions on site.
This apartment will accommodate 2 guests quite well. If you are not looking for close romantic quarters with your guest, of course, you would want a bigger apartment. In any case, more than adequate for 2 people who are friends or a couple.
My Fiancée and I found the apartment very comfortable, safe and relaxing after long days of sightseeing. The area felt safe during all times of the day and night. We cooked our own meals and the utensils provided were adequate. This apartment was close to everything we desired to see. It is about a 15 minute walk to the train station if you desire to see Milan or Venice for the day. Maggiore Plaza is a few minutes away, as well as tons of shops, banks, "malls" etc... In all, a great location and good accommodations in a peaceful and quiet setting.
This particular apartment did not have a city/skyline view. Essentially, your patio doors open to reveal the inner square of the complex. Nothing to see but walls and windows to other apartments, but nice to have fresh air after cooking since the apartment is cozy.
-Wireless internet worked fine and very reliable.
-Don't recall being given discounts on anything for Bologna.
Payment: Cash, Bank wire or Paypal. Expect to pay an additional 5% fee on top of the total cost for using Paypal to compensate for the payee's Paypal fee. Yes, technically you shouldn't be expected to pay a fee on their behalf for sending them money via Paypal, but 90% of the apartments in Europe expect it when using Paypal. Use cash or bank wire to reduce fees.

Owner
Dear Travel Man,
Thank you so much for your review, which, for the first time, brings up the touchy yet important PayPal fee issue. As you (and our prospective guests) surely understand, owners calculate their rates so to be as competitive as possible, but in order to do so they cannot really pay for PayPal fees, that, as we all know, tend to be rather high. If we did we would have to raise our rates, which neither of us (= owners and guests) would really like. This is why we offer different payment options such as a bank wire, cash etc.. We would LOVE to be able to accept credit card payments, but unfortunately in this Country vacation rental is not considered a business, so owners have no access to the POS stream system for payments.
Other than that, our apartment is small indeed and alas! has no view, but Anna and I strive to grant our guests/friends the best possible stay regardless. We do it with a few little attentions that are more similar to the enjoyment of meeting new people and making new friends rather than doing plain (and boring) business. We love people and thank you together with all our previous guests for having taken the time to write so many nice review on our rental and us. This is actually our best reward and an excellent way to encourage us to do even better each time. Come back soon!

Northern CaliforniaGreat Location
Left on 10/29/2012 for a stay in September 2012
The Due Torri apartment provided spartan accommodations in an excellent locale. Rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated, beds were small but comfortable, and the bathroom was small but workable. There are cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, and silverware on hand so you can prepare your own meals.
Pietro, our landlord, could not have been better. He was prompt and pleasant in all our dealings, and answered all our questions. When we arrived, he met us at the apartment, and showed me around the neighborhood.
We were only 2 blocks from the famous Tamburini deli and fine food vendors on the Via Pescherie Vecchie, close to the Two Towers (the Torre degli asinelli and the Torre Garisenda), and 4 blocks from the City Center (the Piazza Maggiore, the Piazza del Nettuno, and the Piazza de Porta Ravegnana). This is a great area for walking, with great restaurants, impressive churches, beautiful galleries, many fine shops, and plenty of nightlife. We loved the city!

Thanks so much, Rick! - and great news for our next guests - starting November 2012 our apartment will be featuring new (and larger) beds, plus an even nicer decor and more amenities - all for the same price. Come visit with us! Ciao! P&A

Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012
It is a small apartment but there is everything you need. But the best is the communication and the the help and tips from the owner. From this apartment you can reach all historical monuments, best restaurants and all popular places in town by feet. You would not hear any noise from the street but perhaps a little noise from the neighbours(washing machine in the middle of the night). This apartment has a good performance-price ratio and I would choose it for my next stay again.

New York, USAPerfect location in Bologna -- everything as described
Left on 04/04/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Everything went perfectly about this rental. I was met by the owner, who graciously explained everything I needed to know about the place, and then left to enjoy it. The apartment is very much as described -- small, modern, clean and well-kempt. The location is impossible to beat -- right in the center of the old city, close to the outdoor food market and lovely specialty shops, and steps away from a small supermarket.
I was in Bologna on business so I realize that I would have liked to have Wi-Fi service in the apartment, which is the one thing it lacked for me. But the convenience was terrific and there is a nice Wi-Fi caffe not too far away.Response from pietro & anna - 04/11/2012
Owner
Thank you so much, Breda. Note, however, that a wi-fi connection IS INDEED provided in the apartment at no extra charge. Maybe you forgot to ask the password! Come back soon. Pietro

Excellent location with restaurants, stores and markets nearby and a very short walk to Piazza Maggiore, the railroad station and all the major monuments of Bologna. The apartment is cosy, quiet and clean - best suited for 2 occupants but can be stretched to 3. Everything was in good working order. The owners were very helpful with information and even rang to book a taxi for us when we left. Very good price too. Would definitely recommend.

Modesto, USAPerfect location, comfy and clean apartment
Left on 12/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This apartment is great and right in the heart of the vibrant historical district of Bologna. There are cafes and restaurants at your door and everything you need is a short walk away - butcher, fruit/veggie shop, wine shop, supermarkets, shopping and a whole open air market. There is an amazing gelato parlour nearby - Piazza Re Enzo. The bust stop is less than a block away and a short ride to everything. Also an easy stroll to Via Indipendenza, the train station and beautiful Margherita garden. The apartment itself has a modern, fully equipped kitchen, a small yet functional bathroom and comfortable beds. Although it is close to a lively street it is not noisy because it is set in the back of the block. We will be sure to return and are so glad to have discovered this apartment and this colourful part of Bologna!

Excellent rental - very clean, perfectly functional, cozy and quiet. The kitchen had all the tols we needed and there is wifi included in the price. Very comfortable beds. The apartment is located in a key area of the historical center with everything at a stone's throw. There is no washing machine, but a laundromat is only one block down the street. We spent 6 days here and loved it, the owners treated us like family. Absolutely recommended. (Nando - Rome, Italy)

Appartamento eccellente! Pulitissimo, tutto perfettamente funzionante, confortevolissimo e silenzioso. Consigliatissimo! (Nando - Roma) -

255072Terrible - could not wait to leave...
Left on 11/28/2011 for a stay in April 2011
After reading glowing reviews on Trip advisor we booked for 8 nights. The deposit could only be paid by International Money Order, Western Union or Bank Transfer. We paid by bank transfer (expensive), and the owner also insisted we paid his bank's charge which is a bit cheeky. We asked about stairs and laundry facilities. The owner advised us there were '2 easy flights of stairs', and a laundromat 'nearby'. In reality there are over 30 stairs from the street front to the apartment - and they are by no means easy! There is an elevator in the building but for some reason the owner does not provide renters with a key. And we never did find the laundromat. We were met at the apartment by the owner, thakfully, as he carried one of our bags up the stairs for us. The apartment is smaller than tiny. The 'queen bed' was 2 singles, made up as 2 singles and pushed together. They were uncomfortable and very low to the ground - like childrens beds. There was no ironing board and the owner indicated you are to iron on the bed - great way to do your back in! The bathroom was terrible. Not enough room to sit squarely on the toilet. The shower screen did not close properly and water leaks all over the floor. The shower suction shelf would not stay stuck, so there was nowhere to put soap and shampoos - and if they were put on the floor there is not enough room to bend over to get them. The towels were threadbare and there was insufficient hanging space to air them. The toilet cistern has some type of electric water pump - and is so noisy. You would not dare flush in the middle of the night. Cupboard space is extremely limited and pretty well filled by vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, irons, cleaning gear. Not a single drawer - nor any easily reached shelf space to put our clothes. A few hooks on the walls even would have helped. The apartment was poorly furnished. The sofa was lumpy and hard as a rock. The oversized table is covered by an even more oversized horrid plastic tablecloth which hides the solid pedestal at one end, which you bash your knees into when you try to sit at the table. The owner seemed quite pleasant but spoke almost no English. There are no compendium, maps, timetables or any other information so often provided by other holiday rentals we have stayed. The only info in English were signs stuck up on walls about how to use the water and what toilet paper to use. The wi fi was good for about 10 minutes, then ran out - insufficient information provided on how or if it could be topped up. The TV was miniscule, shocking reception and no English channel. On several nights we were awoken around 3 am by noise and vibration that we assumed was someone in the building using a washing machine. The apartment is in a good spot - but that is all it offers. We found it noisy, dysfuntional, poorly ventilated and uncomfortable...basic in the extreme. The average motohome (RV) has more storage and better facilities. We would never stay here again. We were hugely disappointed.

Very conveniently located. Close to markets, restaurants train station and shopping. The information center was a 5 minute walk which helped as you could not only get information but could book train tickets, theatre events etc. The apartment was very well maintained and the owner very helpful. Would definitely stay here again if I returned to Bologna.

This apartment was perfe4ct for our needs - so quiet and close to the main sights, the market etc.. We will certainly be recommending Due Torri to any of our friends who may be visiting Bologna.
We particularly enjoyed eating at Trattoria Serghei, Via Piella 12 - great Bolognese food!! and a nice family who run the restaurant.
Thanks again for your help when we arrived. -

We appreciated its cleanliness and loved the warm welcome we had at our arrival, with a delicious cake baked by anna. The wifi internet was a plus as I needed it for work. I recommend this apartment highly. Emile from France.

Due Torre apartment was perfect for a solo travellor who likes to cook. Great location to the amenities, sights and 20 minute fast walk to the train station made day trips to Verona and Ravenna easy and then onto Venice easy. I appreciated Pietro's correspondence and assistance and warm welcome from his niece who made sure I had all I needed for a comfortable stay...as I arrived Sunday night in the rain.

They say Real Estate is location, location, location. This is the location in Bologna. The apartment is tiny by american standards, small by European standards, and getting from the front door to the apartment entrance is a Wonderland trip in that there are many twists and turns. The apartment is utterly functional, perfect for two and we would return, but you are not in the Ritz, that's not what you are there for. I am a photographer and this is just what i wanted!

We really enjoyed our stay in Bologna at this lovely apartment. It had everything we needed except the addition of a toaster may be appreciated! It was quiet despite being in the centre near cafes, bars, shopping etc. We loved buying the food at the indoor market a few minutes flat walk. We visited many beautiful churches and 2 wonderful Christmas concerts and the mechanical Nativity scenes on display were a real joy to witness. There was a lovely spirit of the season and I can certainly recommend going to this apartment at this time of the year! Pietro was very helpful and left us a bottle of Christmas cheer and a home made jam tart that was a nice touch. Thank you for making our visit to Bologna so pleasant!

Bluffton, SCFantastic apartment in the Center of Bologna
Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in November 2010
The owner, was a dream to work with and very responsive to all my emails. And what a fantastic greeting! We were met by the owner's sister outside the front door of the apartment; within minutes we were ushered inside and met the owner, big hugs all around, like we were long-lost family.
The apartment is true to the photos on the website, small, but immaculately clean, and very secure.
The location of this apartment, in my opinion, was the best thing about this place. It's located, smack in the middle of the center of the city, just a few blocks from Piazza Maggiore, and around the corner from the main arterial street, Via Independenzia, going directly to the train station. There were plenty of shops, cafes, banks, and gastronomia's within a few steps of the front door.
I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Pietro and anna were great hosts and invited us to have dinner at their place, which we appreciated a lot. Left on 08/30/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Great apartment, ideally situated in the very heart of the center with everything reachable even without public transportation or - what really matters - a car (parking available nearby though). Not a gigantic apartment yet extremely cozy and clean, with everything one may need. Great welcome by Anna (who baked a delicious cake for us) and Pietro, who took us around the area showing us the best stores and restaurants and bought us "aperitivo” at the end. An excellent price for the quality we got, which is definitely above the many "cheap traps” we experienced in Bologna in the past. -

This apartment was a great find. My wife and I spent two full weeks at Due Torri and were extremely happy with it, it is clean, very quiet and features a true homely atmosphere with all the necessary things one may need these days, such as the internet connection. All the communications with the owners were excellent, both before and during our stay (great welcome with anna's cake and Pietro's wine). Even though the size is on the small side the apartment is ideal for a couple, with or without a child. With Piazza Maggiore and the Two Towers literally around the corner the location is terrific, and so is the Medieval market right across the street. Excellent price too. Highly recommended.
