As a regular visitor to Bologna I would say that the location of this apartment was excellent.
The view of the roof tops from the loft bedroom is nice and the representative was courteous.
Unfortunately, the apartment is not secure as it was burgled while we were out attending the BookFair. Our laptop was stolen with years of work & creative content lost. This loss ruined our business trip as we could not present materials to our clients / publishers. A leather jacket was also stolen.
There was no sign of a break in! There was 1 small window ajar but it would seem impossible for anyone to get in through it from the roof unless it was spiderman. Whoever did it in our opinion must have had a key, somehow.
We reported the incident to management immediately. The next day we spent over 3hours at the police station making a report. The management at Halldis informed us that our goods weren't covered by any insurance or contract.
To add insult to injury we paid 20 euro cash to the Haldis representative for access to the internet of which we never had opportunity to use, this money was not refunded as promised.
The management dealt with our situation in a very cold manner and offered an inadequate token voucher for 100 euro to spend on our next rental with Halldis was their final offer.
The opportunity to make good PR was lost by the management.
This will not stop us visiting Bologna in the near future but we will be more careful which rental company we use.Response from Halldis - 04/20/2012

I’m sorry that I didn’t seem supportive, it was absolutely not my intention.
For administrative reasons, we had to credit the 20 euro refund on your credit card as promised.

The location in the former ghetto was fascinating and climbing 62 steps to reach our apt. allowed us to enjoy the Bolognese food without weight gain. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. The small problems were taken care of or noted. The apt. was modern, light and airy and the wi-fi worked. Being near the center of town was wonderful. A month was not long enough.
