Mooresville, NCA Beautiful and Relaxing Retreat

Bird Nest is the perfect retreat for folks like us who just need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and from the summer heat! It's also close enough to the amenities of Boone and Blowing Rock that it doesn't take long to travel to those places. We found it nice, too, that the town of Todd and the New River were nearby -- within 6 miles -- so that we could enjoy a lovely bicycle ride on the Railroad Grade Trail and lunch afterwards at the General Store.
The cabin is very comfortable, but could be made more enjoyable by dispensing of the numerous magazines in almost every corner and every room -- it just seems like a "clutter." Also, it would be nice to have the right size (cone) filters for the coffee maker along with some packets of sweetener for those who need it. Other than these minor points, we can't say enough good things about Bird Nest. -

the cabin was clean, cozy, and we had everything we needed to enjoy the time. the home was beautifully decorated but not to where i was afraid to touch anything for fear of breaking something. my family felt very at home and my grand kids didn't want to leave. the location was beautiful, the weather was great. the only thing i did not like was i was going to walk down the road with my grandkids and this big white dog from next door came running and barking. i was scared and we weren't able to walk except in the yard.

We (the wife and I) stayed at the Birds Nest on Valentines Day weekend, 2012. The cabin is nice. It is well furbished and clean. The hot tub worked well and we had a great time relaxing there in the evenings after sightseeing in the mountains around the area. The people in the N.C. mountains are friendly and we found some good places to eat in the surrounding towns. The vistas from the cabin are nice and the roads are in good shape. Definitely recommend a 4x4 if traveling there in the winter months as the roads are secondary and will not be plowed until after the main highways are cleared.

My wife and I spent the weekend for our son's graduation from app State. It was wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. Hot tub was awesome. Service was great. The grill needed to be replaced, we called the night of arrival and a new grill was delivered and ready to go the next morning.
