Miami, FLBeautiful Cabin, great location!
Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in November 2011
The cabin was beautiful; great floorplan, beautiful furniture, every room has its own character and a full bathroom at their disposal. Cabin offers plenty of privacy and it is extremely comfortable. Modern kitchen, great tv's, even games were available. All modern amenities were at our disposal. The decks were amazing, large, rugged and with great views of the mountains. The cabin was centrally located, a short driving distance to Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, etc. Everything was great. The only drawback to this cabin is going up the steep, unpaved, narrow and winding road, definitely not comfortable for a first-timer, even when road is fully dry. A 4 X 4 is definitely a must if weather conditions are not ideal. Overall, great experience!

It was the perfect way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Very restful and just what we needed to "unplug". The house is extremely well-furnished and we enjoyed the secluded location. Debbie was very easy to work with and we hope to return in the future. Thank you!

Great location, convenient to Original Mast General Store, Boone, Blowing Rock, Grandfather, Blue Ridge, hiking, waterfalls, and more. Top notch management that quickly responds to any request. Fully and completely stocked with everything a vacationer could want: hot tub, gas grill, outdoor furniture on numerous decks (with view), fruit trees in the yard, privacy, full spectrum of linens, towels, cookware and kitchen appliances. Everyone will be comfortable at night and during the day you can enjoy the many activities offered in this area of high country.

Although this is a lovely review, I believe the guest may have confused our home with others she has stayed in as we do NOT have a hot tub, nor do we have fruit trees. The rest of the review is quite accurate. I just want to be sure not to mislead anyone as some people really want the hot tub! Thanks for a the kind words.

Clemmons, NCThe Perfect Place to Celebrate our Daughter's Graduation!
Left on 05/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Debbie and Dennis have provided a beautiful retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. The secluded getaway was a great contrast to the crowded streets of Boone following graduation. We were able to grill out on the deck, play games and enjoy the scenic views of the wooded mountains as well as the exquisite beauty of this lovely mountain home. While tastefully decorated, the house is also quite liveable! Our family had an awesome time and we look forward to returning again!

When we arrived at the cabin, our mouths dropped in unison as we uttered, "Wooowww!" Although the steep, dirt road leading to the cabin seemed like we were going to be roughing it, opening the door of the cabin proved otherwise. The cabin, furniture, and furnishings are very functional, luxurious, and comfortable. The view is spectacular.
The owners made renting this property so easy and efficient.
We visited local towns, went skiing at appalachian Ski Mountain, and enjoyed some downtime...but it was great that we could use the local internet connection for work as necessary.
Cellphone reception was fair -- but then again, it was so nice just to be away in nature.
Will we come back again?
Absolutely! Hopefully in summer and in winter. -

The internet is a wonderful thing. Our daughter and daughter in law found this jewel of a mountain home with the help of the internet. It's my pleasure to recommend the house to anyone looking for a most comfortable getaway. Everything from checking in to checkout was effortless. The home is well kept, with up to date decor. A bedroom on each floor gave everyone their privacy in the evening. Great deck with indoor/outdoor fireplace. Hiking was excellent. I could go on forever, but I think you get the point. Can't wait to go back...

This was the first "real" vacation that my husband and I have ever taken. We decided to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary by getting away from it all. The appalachian Retreat was actually the second cabin we stayed at while on our extended vacation. However, this one was our favorite as it was so comfortable that it felt like home. The decor was beautiful! We especially enjoyed the upper deck with its two sided fireplace. We sat on this deck almost every night and grilled out, and the fireplace kept us warm. We could not have enjoyed our stay more as Debbie has thought of everything. If you are looking for R&R;, this is the place to stay!

1st time for the Florida Kids to see snow. It snowed on a monday night and they were amazed by everything they saw. Good location and close to Boone and Ski/ tubing in the mountains. Had 4 wild turkeys walk by the cabin in the morning. Fireplace was perfect and the view from the balcony was outstanding. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Saved money by cooking at the cabin that had all the cooking utensils you would ever need.

This was our first year doing a winter vacation. We were very excited about a trip to the mountains, considering we always do a summer beach trip. The cabin exceeded our expectations upon arrival. The decor, warmth, and detail to comfort and coziness was impecible, all the way down to the quality of the bedding and the indoor/outdoor fireplace. The setting gives access to a beautiful sunrise and equally beautiful sunset. We had a wonderful time and can not wait to return! A new family tradition!

Greensboro, NCUnforgetable Getaway!
Left on 09/13/2010 for a stay in September 2010
This cabin was immaculate! It was the perfect start representing our new life together. Every room was decorated so elequantly and gave a mountain feel in each room. Even though it was just the two of us, the house was so cozy it did not feel like it had three levels with three bedrooms.
The view was breath taking! Every morning and night we veiwed clouds hovering over the near by mountain tops. All of our cooking needs were met, we only needed to add food.
The owners have displayed their idea of what beautifull, quante and the next best thing to your own home living is all about.
We have decided to make this an anniversary trip for us and to out do each year to come. Any one wanting a getaway experinece like never before should visit the appalachian Retreat. You will be speachless and overwhelmed as we were. I dare you to try it out!

Our family loves the appalachian Retreat. We have stayed there twice now and love the cabin. It is beautifully done and in a fantastic location. We were able to visit Boone, West Jefferson and Blowing Rock by day and come back and relax on one of the decks or play one of the games that is available in the cabin. We plan on visiting again in the future..

it was my first time in the area, and when I saw that woods I was very impressed. When we got to the house I was happy to see that everything written about the cabin was true. We arrived one day before Thanksgiving and we enjoyed a perfect holiday, full of comfort and coziness. You won't regret it.

What a great place to get away in the High Country. We've been fortunate enough to stay here twice over the last two years in the fall and I can't say enough about the home and its owners. It has everything you would want in a "mountain home", while still being close to the places you want to visit. Boone, Blowing Rock, W.Jefferson etc. In addition, the O'Neals go above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable. As an aSU alum, I love to bring my family up each fall to catch a game and just enjoy a little piece of heaven. Can't wait to go again this October. Thanks Debbie for sharing you lovely home with us.

The cabin had everything that we needed and many amenities we couldn't have dreamed of. It's beautiful, scenic, peaceful, well-maintained...I could go on. My husband and I spent 4 days with our best friends (2 other couples) as we tried to unwind from our professional existence and this was just the place. We hope to use the cabin again!
