Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We had no prblems making the reservation. It was quick and easy. The house is extremely well equipped, clean, and well taken care of. Everything was working perfectly. We were 10 minutes away from anything we needed like markets, shopping, pharmacies, and also from what we wanted to see. Many ammenities close by and many interesting places to visit. We will book this same house again in the future.

Left on 10/20/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Three couples we were indeed and had good weekend at this beautifully decorated house.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean. Even had a basket full of personal items such as soap, shampoo, cotton swabs etc.
Just right for three couples or family with grown up kids.
View was excellent. Fantastic sunrise view.
Disappointed with lack of vibrant colors!

CharlotteJust one stay and you'll fall in love with Cat's Pause
Left on 10/06/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I first discovered Cat's Pause in 2000 upon the recommendation of friends. We have rented this property many times throughout the years and have always found it to be exactly what we want in a mountain home. The house sits on a mountain side and boasts an a frame living room with ceiling to floor windows that provide an amazing view of the Blue Ridge mountains. It will have to suffice to say that the sunrise is indescribable. The interior of the home is nothing short of the perfect mountain rental property. The ceilings are all hard wood boards and beams. The downstairs interior walls are also wood planks. The master bedroom and bath is extremely large by anyone's standards and also has a closed in loft design with one glassed wall with a panoramic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and full length drapes that can be drawn for privacy. The house has a TV in both the den and master. The kitchen is well stocked with dishware, cookware, etc. There ia a deck which is large and beautiful. The driveway paved. The home is situated at the end of a cul de sac and only 10 minutes from both Blowing Rock or Boone.

Sumter, SCJust What We Needed
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
My adult son and I rented Cats Pause in February 2011. We were both stressed out from work and, after having taken care of ailing family members for several months, needed some overdue R & R.
We both loved it and talked about how it seemed "familiar"! It was like things were where they would have been at home. Everything we needed plus quiet, great view, and wonderful surroundings. The cabin is far enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to all attractions. Perfect. We will return. Thank you! -

Kansas CityWhite Christmas in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
We had an absolutely fantastic Christmas at Cats Pause on top of a mountain just north of Blowing Rock. My wife, our two adult children and their spouses flew into Charlotte from three different cities and made the easy drive to Blowing Rock. The house was magnificently poised on a mountainside with tremendous views. We got snowed in when it snowed three straight days (10-11 inches) but the house was the perfect place to be. It was very roomy and the kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cookware and that came in handy as we cooked all our meals and all 6 of us could easily work together in the kitchen.
The views from the 2-story floor to ceiling windows in the living room were picture post card perfect. The master bedroom had the same view from its all glass wall.
When the snow finally stopped and the snow plow came and cleared us out , we discovered Blowing Rock to be a charming little village with lots of restaurants and cute shops. Don't miss the chance to have great North Carolina Bar-b-que at Woodlands.
This is a great place and to top it off the people at Jenkins Realty could not have been more friendly or accommodating

St.Petersburg, FloridaKill the flies, kill the wasps, and the foul odor!!
Left on 12/02/2010 for a stay in November 2010
This cabin should not have been rented since we could not use the lower level because of the moldy smell on the lower level.
Both our daughters in law are expecting and the smell was overwhelming. We were killing flies and wasps and yes, we had the doors and windows shut!
In addition, whats with the one bag of trash per house?Response from Jenkins Realtors, Inc. - 02/14/2011
Manager
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I could not find reference that you reported these issues during your stay or at departure. We would have been happy to have either rectified the problem or moved you to another home. We've located the smell to a water leak at the bathtub in the lower level bathroom, it has since been repaired. I’m sorry you had flies and wasps, but the property was inspected before your arrival and no insects were found. Trash removal is address in our lease, as well as in the information provided at check in, along with a map to the trash sites. With houses spread out all over the county trash pickup is not offered. In the future if there is a problem please let us know as soon as it is found so it can be addressed. If you’re in the area again please give Cats Pause another try.

The Cat's Pause was an incredible mountain getaway for me, my wife, and several of our family members. The view of the mountains was spectacular by day and the shooting stars at night were breath-taking. Thanks for an awesome vacation cabin! Great price for what you get!

Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009
Jenkins Realtors called me Christmas Eve morning to inform us an ice storm was on its way. We could check in early and get settled before the storm hit. That service was a big plus for us. The home and views were beautifull! We lost power Christmas morning but the gas fireplace kept us warm. We cooked on the gas grill outside, played cards by candle light and weathered the storm. We hope to visit again when we can enjoy the outdoors, but we made the best of it!

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in November 2009
The views were breath-taking. The log cabin was beautiful and cozy. The house had everything you would need for an extended stay. The only problem was that there were a lot of flies. Many were dead on the floor, but there were several still buzzing around. However, we had a really nice weekend and would consider renting Cat's Pause again.

Left on 06/11/2009 for a stay in May 2009
This wonderful vacation cabin has it all! It is conveniently located to nearby Blowing Rock and Boone with plenty of shopping and dining opportunities, yet close to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. This cabin is a good central point for scenic drives to Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls/Caverns, Roan Mountain, and more. The view is incredible, there's plenty of privacy, and even wildlife in the backyard. The entire cabin is very clean and well-appointed, the kitchen is huge and has everything you need, the laundry area is nice, the decor is great. We enjoyed a very relaxing week and plan to come back again!!!

Wilson, North CarolinaGreat option
Left on 05/27/2009 for a stay in May 2009
We rented this cabin to carry my 78 year old mother in law. There was a bed and bath conveniently located on the entrance floor so that she would not have to climb steps. She had never seen the mountains in her life. The view from Cats is amazing! She sat on the deck for hours....when we arrived back home she said she wish she was still at the cabin! Great place to stay!

North CarolinaA great place to stay
Left on 04/15/2009 for a stay in April 2009
We had a great stay at Cats Pause. The house was well layed out, nicely decorated (meow), clean and had spectacular views. The location was ideal for anyone wanting to stay in the Boone / Blowing Rock area or easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The environment was quiet and relaxing, with wonderful mountain vistas. Watching a night time lightning storm out the main widnows was impressive. Wildlife was abundant in the area with deer making a large number of appearances.
The only issue we had was my daughter getting a bit chilly in the downstairs bedroom.
All in all, a great place to relax. -

N Myrtle Beach, SCScenic mountain getaway
Left on 12/17/2008 for a stay in November 2008
Our visit was to celebrate our oldest daughters 21st birthday. As a child she loved taking camping trips in the NC mountains. We opted for a more comfortable winter stay at this beautiful log cabin home. The view was fabulous. The house and all its amentites were beyond comfortable. I brought along kitchen supplies that were not necessary. We dined out 3 of our 4 nights. Cooking the last night was an easy task in such a well appointed kitchen. The home's proximity to downtown Boone, Blowing Rock and Linville Caverns made for quick travel time.

Left on 11/12/2008 for a stay in July 2007
We had stayed at Cats Pause before the lower level was available to guests and it was fine.
During this stay the lower level was open and one member of our family stayed in the lower bedroom The lower level had a very musty smell and we won't rent it again.
If that condition were corrected, and if we could verify it with a personal visit, we would consider another rental there. -

Left on 11/11/2008 for a stay in April 2006
What a great chalet. While I have stayed in others, Cats Pause is the one I compare the rest to. Beautiful view, close to the BlueRidge Parkway, and a really nice home. Between Boone and Blowing Rock and not far from Banner Elk, Valle Crucis, Beech and Sugar Mountains.
Only 1 item that is missing for me, is a high speed internet connection. -

Waxhaw NCSo peaceful!
Left on 11/11/2008 for a stay in January 2007
We arrived not knowing what to expect- it's not easy picking a vacation home over the internet. But once we saw it, we knew that we had found the perfect place! Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, we were greeted by a friendly neighbor who wanted to make sure we knew he was there in case we needed anything- even a tow up the icy driveway if necessary! The home itself was lovely- large windows with a panoramic view of the mountains, a gas fireplace to cuddle up by, a jacuzzi hot tub, and plenty of bedroom space and room to sprawl out for our family. There was nothing that we lacked- as matter of fact we hope to return to "Cats Pause" every winter to rest and make more memories. It truly was one of the most delightful homes we have ever stayed in!

Three couples who had just been to their 55th High School reunion in North Wilkesboro, NC decided to stay in the area for a few extra days. I am the "operation officer" and found Cats Pause on the net. Immediately fell in love with the description of the property and with the concurrence of my 2 buddies, rented same for 3 days. Absolutely great location, beautiful views from deck and windows, plenty of room for all and very well equipped. I have stayed in many resorts that could not offer what was available at Cats Pause. If the property ever goes up for sale, please let me know!!!

Left on 11/11/2008 for a stay in August 2008
I have stayed at several other rental cabins (some through Jenkins Realty) in the Boone/Blowing Rock area and in my opinion Cats Pause is by far the best. It is very easy to get to and not far from shopping, restaurants and the parkway. The view from the deck is spectacular and very private. The cabin is well furnished and always extremly clean. For a romantic getaway I would highly recommend staying at Cats Pause.

What a view
Left on 07/02/2008 for a stay in April 2008
This is our second year staying at Cat's Pause. We love everything about it Ie: the view, the location, the fresh air and the people. The surrounding countryside was absolutely charming. We found a picnic area about 10 miles out of town that was perfect.
We plan on renting Cat's Pause for 2 weeks in June of 2009. We will bring some friends with us this time.
