Comforting environment with amazing view. Family friendly home did not feel like a rental at all. Our family consists of an aSU grad local man and a NY appalachian girl. Many relaxing cocktails discussng the correct pronunciation of appalachian. We mutually agree when in Boone it's appalaaachaan! Close to everything including lazy rafting in Todd.

Left on 04/16/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This is our 2nd time at appalachian adventure and it was as great as the 1st time. Lovely home with all the necessities of home. A lot of space and ideal for a couples retreat. Very friendly neighborhood--we had a accident off the driveway and we had numerous folks to stop by to offer assistance. The staff at Jenkins was courteous, accommodating and great customer service. We enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning. Only downside is that you have to go to a different location to get the key...which wasn't a real big deal.

Fernandina Beach, FLA River Runs Through It
Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend. We had a wonderful snowfall and enjoyed walking the banks of the expansive river just below the cabin. Our families loved the recreation room, fireplaces, and great views from the decks. The home was well-equipped with all the necessary cooking items and the bedrooms were more than adequate. We also took note of how quickly the faucets got to temperature, which ironically is often a challenge at home. Overall, a great weekend and very appreciative of a beautiful home and beautiful surroundings.

Left on 10/12/2012 for a stay in October 2012
House next door, but no one there during our weeks stay. High 60's and sunny during the day and low 50's overnight, enjoyed the fresh mountain air-opened the windows at night and slept with goose down comforters brought from home.
Easy check in and out. House was clean upon arrival. Family enjoyed the whole house, but favorite was downstairs in the game room with pool table. Relaxing in front of the gas logs, laid back in the recliners with super soft blankets that were draped across each chair with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa-so relaxing! Very nice to have washer, dryer and a grill to cook on also. Enjoyed Tweetsie, Grandfather Mountain and Foggy Gem Mine. Best philly cheese steak sandwich ever! at Foggy Mountain Pub and Eatery - Blowing Rock(chef came from Chetola) -

The cabin is lovely, couches are stained and dirty (crumbs) and I stread the throw from my car over before sitting down. The bear rugs in the bedroom and downstairs bath were old, tattered and luckily I had extra towels to step on to when I got out of the shower.
The decorations are old, funky and have lost there appeal. I will be returning to the area, but I would not rent this cabin again.Response from Jenkins Realtors, Inc. - 06/14/2012

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. I could not find reference that you reported these issues during your stay or at departure. We would have been happy to have either rectified the problem or moved you to another home. We do everything in our power to provide guests with a clean property, housekeeping does a standard clean before arrivals and spring cleaning is done yearly. The property was inspected before your arrival. Since being brought to my attention I have had the couches cleaned, and informed the owners that the bathmats need replaced. The properties are individually owned and decorated to the owner’s personal tastes. If you’re in the area again please give us another try to allow us help you find a home that may be better suited to your needs.

Left on 11/17/2011 for a stay in November 2010
We had a wonderful time at appalachian adventure. It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. The house was everything that was promised in the ad. We enjoyed our stay very much and plan to return! I would recommend Jenkins Rentals to anyone! However, I did not understand why there was an opportunity to "win free linen service" in our packet when we arrived. Was this perhaps for a future trip? Anyway, great stay and great memories...loved, loved, loved it!

Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This was a great mountain house for all ages. There is a game room downstairs that kept the guys entertained. The kitchen is equipped with any utensil or gadget you would need to cook a nice meal. The rooms are comfortable and good for sleeping 8 people comfortably, as long as you don't mind bunk beds. This house is in a beautiful location in the mountains around Boone. The New River can be accessed from just a short walk. We definitely would recommend this house.

Chapel Hill, NCNearly perfect experience
Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Rented this house for a weekend getaway with friends. We had a total of eight people (4 couples) and one dog. The house was not only spacious enough that we weren't "tripping over" one another, but was also tastefully appointed, a wonderful location, and included a fun game and football-watching room. The pool table was a huge hit. The only negative was that a man came to provide lawn care (loud lawn mowers and weed whackers) from 8am-9am on our check-out morning. Not really the way we wanted to be awakened on our last morning in the mountains. Suggest to owners to be mindful of scheduling lawn maintenance while people are staying in the house. Other than that, perfect!!

Cary, NCPleasant property. Well maintained. Clean.
Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Overall we were very pleased with the property. A couple of small things... the cabin was not cleaned until after we had arrived. Not a problem, but first impressions are important. Pet stain on master bedroom comforter was hidden from view by making the bed with stain side faced down. Cleaners could not have failed to notice the stain, as it was 8-10 inches round and bright yellow. Finally, it would have been nice to have a couple of more chairs on the balcony ... sort of had the feeling that things were put away for the winter and not returned for the summer.
However, the above items were insignificant to our overall experience. We liked the house and would have no problem renting it again for ourt next trip. -

This is a beautiful vacation home with lots of amenities. We went with our 2 adult daughters and one husband. It was very clean and nicely decorated. We wish the first floor bed was larger; seemed like a double instead of queen. Otherwise it is a terrific value. Everyone loved the pool table and game area!

The pictures don't do this property justice. It was absolutely wonderful! We had small children, teenagers and adults...everyone was comfortable and entertained. The area was peaceful and we sat on the porch and watched the deer in the yard in the evening. Local stores were about 10 min away...perfect for us! We will be back!!! Thanks!

Left on 04/29/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We recently traveled to Boone to visit with our son, and rented this cabin. Since I have rented from Jenkins before, I was pretty confident the cabin would be as advertised. The cabin was wonderful, loved the pool table on the first level and the loft bedroom. We had plenty of room, although my daughter did miss having an internet connection. Highly recommend for a play to get away and just relax.

We stayed here from Jan 1 until Jan 7. The house is a little out of the way from Sugar Mtn but is relatively close to app Mtn. The house was clean and modern, with a great game room downstairs with the pool table, fireplace and TV. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone.

Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We had a great time in the Boone area, loved this house and highly recommend it. The house is in a quiet development and while other houses are nearby (which I personally prefer), the wooded lots preserve a sense of privacy and the mountainside location provides a lovely view. I'll bet it's spectacular in the fall.
The house is well equipped with up-to-date appliances, and is clean and extremely comfortable. My kids loved the pool table and the short walk to the river. These owners know what people want in a vacation rental. I really can't think of any negatives.
We actually had pretty undependable weather with a lot of rain, but we made the most of any outdoor time we could get and were happy to retreat to appalachian adventure when it got too wet outside! -

Left on 01/11/2009 for a stay in December 2008
Beautiful Home....Wonderful View. We were very comfortable. I think when the downstairs is finished it will be more accomodating as far as roominess. It wasn't very clean but that is not the homeowners fault. The only real recommendation was to have the kitchen better stocked as far as pots and pans. We had to go out and by frying pans as there was only one.
Great area, great for walking as there was no traffic. -

Raleigh, NCTurkey Day/Appalachian Adventure
Left on 12/09/2008 for a stay in November 2008
We spent a few days including Thanksgiving at Appalachian Adventure. It is a lovely house and we enjoyed the open space of the house.
The house was not as clean as we would have liked it to be. There were lots of cobwebs throughout the house and especially in the loft bedroom. There were some very large spiderwebs along the windows and fireplace area as well. The floors definitely had not been vacumned. We did use the vacumn and swept the kitchen. The house seems to be in need of a thorough cleaning. There was no trash pick-up, which was quite a shock. We had to take our trash to a site, and that was very inconvenient. Can't imagine not providing trash pickup!
Anyway, it was a beautiful house and we had a great time.Response from Jenkins Realtors, Inc. - 01/02/2009

RaleighA Glorious Month in Todd
Left on 11/12/2008 for a stay in August 2008
Appalacian Adventure is located in a wonderful community in Todd. It has an outstanding view of Bald Mountain in a neighborhood of lovely homes, just above the New River. It is a lovely and comfortable home, but like most rental homes it does have some shortcomings.
It is not suitable for seniors due to the many stairs in the home. The kitchen is not well appointed with small applianceS and utensils. The carpet was in much need of cleaning. The television in the Master Loft did not work. The AC filters needed to be changed, and the coils under the refrigerator needed to be cleaned. Also, the ceiling fans above the bunk beds are a safety violation.
These issues are easily remedied. Overall a lovely place that needs some TLC.
Response from Jenkins Realtors, Inc. - 12/30/2008
Manager
Thank you for bringing the issues to our attention. The loft TV only works for DVD or VCR, it is not set up with satellite. The carpets were cleaned earlier this year, and it is about time for spring cleaning. The filters were changed out, and I have forwarded your comments to the owner about potential new utensils in the home and the ceiling fan. Please let me know the next time you are coming and we will see if we can find a more suitable property for you (fewer stairs). Kate

This place is awesome. The kitchen is awesome with plenty of
room for several people to eat. The deck is great for clear
nights to check out the stars. My problem with the place was
the lack of privacy in the loft bedroom and the lack of
circulation of the air conditioning to that area. At the time when
my wife and I stayed there, the basement was being made into a
game room. I would definitely come back to this property,
especially to utilize the game room in the basement and the flat
screen TV that is supposed to go with it. I recommend this
property.
