Six miles from the bustle of Boothbay Harbor is a peaceful 15 acre river-front retreat, set among rolling lawns, meandering stone walls, apple orchards and richly colored perennial gardens. The estate consists of four New England-style buildings: a new Maine Farmhouse and historic barn; a charming garden shed; a fully renovated 1800s Cape and a 1700s barn which sometimes holds the private Bold Colorful Life Gallery, filled with jewelry, photographs and paintings...sometimes holds wedding ceremonies. The original rental building on the 15 acre estate is the fully-renovated history-rich 1800s CAPE. The Cape sleeps 9 in beds. The first floor includes a fully equipped kitchen and pantry, kitchen island that seats up to 6, attached dining room which seats 8 comfortably, a full living room, with media and library and keyboard and fireplace, and the Garnet bedroom, a Full bed with private bath, which faces the courtyard and the English country garden.

Upstairs is the Ruby-Peridot suite, with a Queen in one room and a Twin in the other, with private bath, and windows facing the barn and apple orchard and river. Across the hallway is the Turquoise room with Full bed and private bath and down the hall is the Butterscotch Amber suite, with sitting room, twin beds and a large bath with claw foot tub and shower. Upstairs in the hallway is the computer nook desk, which is a cozy place to pick up the WiFi.

The Cape also has a full wrap-around porch and mature English gardens and is nestled next to three ancient apple trees.

The second building is the Maine FARMHOUSE which combines new convenience with historical flavor, with exterior porches, dormers and gardens. It sleeps 11 in beds. Inside, the first floor holds a large, fully-equipped kitchen, dining area with a barn-door dining room table which seats 20 and Great Room, built and furnished with 200 year-old barnboards and timbers and housing comfortable seating, a Baby Grand piano and a full library. These rooms face the river, the sunsets and the pond. A cozy media room with the latest technology and a handicap-accessible King bedroom and bath, the Malachite room, face the courtyard and gardens. The back porch faces the pond and has a grill and table for 8; the front deck faces the courtyard and has two round tables with umbrellas and chairs. The Farmhouse is attached to our 'event deck' as well, which is located near the Firepit and the massive ancient stone wall.

On the second floor are four more bedrooms, each with private bath: Watermelon Tourmaline with Queen bed; Lapis Lazuli with Queen and Twin; Tangerine Citrine with Queen, and Amethyst with Full bed. Additional Location Information

The property is located on the Back River, on the Boothbay peninsula, four miles from the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and six miles from Boothbay Harbor itself. The fifteen acre estate is near the end of a quiet, peaceful residential road which follows the Back River for almost 4 miles. Swimming, canoeing, kayaking and hiking all begin right here. There is a cove at the bottom of the lawn which opens out into the river. Regular guests include a pair of bald eagles, a friendly porcupine, cove seals and local deer. A female moose crosses the property every Fall. There are hiking trails in a dozen preserves within 10 miles; one of them around the corner--Ovens Mouth.
Boothbay Harbor offers restaurants, shopping, galleries, saltwater activities.

  Great vacation mansion w/ beautiful & large bed/bath w/ color themes. Spacious kitchen and dining area that could sit 20 people and also have space for self serve meals. Safe for the little ones and with extra areas for indoors reading, playing and watching TV. Bold Colorful Life Inn is 10 minutes by car from downtown Boothbay were we rented kayaks and went on tours. We could not have choosen a better place for our family reunion.

  As all readers can tell, Marianne is a fountain of positive energy and love. She and her family were a joy to have at the Bold Colorful Life estate...from their teamwork making meals to their enjoyment of each other and the surroundings, every day was a celebration for this group. They planned outings and wandered the greater midcoast Maine area, then returned to enjoy the peace and quiet of the site each afternoon. They split up to pursue their different interests; then returned to share stories on the back porch or over a meal. I am so glad they chose Boothbay and this estate and hope they return again and again!
