This is our second 3 week vacation at this cottage in 2 years. What a wonderful place. You can't beat a lake on one side and the ocean on the other. The views are fantastic as are the house and the owner. Everything you need is already there. We miss it already and we've only been gone a couple of weeks.

Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We were searching for a pet friendly vacation property in Maine and we were not disappointed. The prperty was perfect set in a peaceful wooded location with a wonderful view of Lake appalachee and just a short walk from the beautiful Boothbay Regional Land Trust walks which were ideal for walking the dog off leash. The property is well laid out, with a good level of kitchen equipment although the cooker is slightly showing its age. The main lounge/dining room looks out onto the lake and there is a great balcony with a barbecue for those warm summer evenings. The property comes with access to 2 kayaks for paddling on the lake or you can walk them down to the appalachee residents dock and take them out into the bay - great fun. It should be noted that the residents association do not permit pets on the small beach by the lake. The nearby town of Boothbay just a 1 mile stroll is a very picturesque, pet friendly town with a number of places where you and your pet can eat and plenty of shop owners who will welcome you in.

Syracuse, New YorkVery comfortable cottage
Left on 08/23/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This cottage is extremely well equipped, very spacious and situated on a lovely site. While it was a busy place during the day; the other cottages were very close by, it was wonderfully quiet at night. The view of the ocean was beautiful off the deck and I logged alot of time there. We were there with two large dogs and the cottage was plenty roomy enough to accomodate us.
If there is a downside, it is not in walking distance to town but we actually didn't go in as much because the cottage was so comfortable. -

The Oceanview Cottage met our every need. It was clean, well appointed and certainly dog friendly. After renting different places over the past few years, this was the first cottage with a full and complete set of dishes and glassware that matched! The washer and dryer, shared with the Lakeview Cottage, is in the garage, but not that inconvenient. The private beach on appalachee Pond is directly across the street and was much appreciated by my boys. There is parking for 2 vehicles and if company shows up, parking can be an issue. The WiFi was great, but the cable TV selection was about 10 basic channels only. With children, a broader cable package that includes stations for adolescents would have been appreciated - but it isn't a stopper for my considering renting the same place again. All in all, I give the place 5 stars.

Owner is extremely pet friendly and there is an excellent deck with baby gate so your pet can go outside alone. Good views of Linnikin Bay from deck with great place to eat breakfast or dinner away from the crowd of downtown. Small pond across the street with breathtaking pink and white water lilies in august. Owner supplies kyacks to explore the lake. Association dock on the ocean down the street and down a hill. Fine for those who are able bodied. Gorgeous first thing in the morning. Dirt road is a great place to walk your dog in the early am and there are trails at the end of the road, too.
Well appointed cottage has everything your vacation home needs. Just don't try to find it in the dark the first time! -

This clean and cosy cottage was perfect for the two of us and "Minnie". The location is perfect for a getaway, yet a short drive to everything. The lake beach, which is directly across the street was great and the Kayaks that are provided are a plus. The deck has great sunset views. If we come back to the area we would not look any further than "Lakeside Cottage"

Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Having never been to Maine before we did not know what to expect. Boothbay Harbor was a beautiful setting on the ocean, busy but not crowded, many shops, restaurants. The cottage itself was close to town but away from the beaten path. The part that we stayed in was a separate over-the-garage- apartment with one bedroom and one bath, perfect for a couple, but it is part of a larger cottage the rest of which we did not see. It is set among several other cottages but oriented in a way such that the views are all private. The outdoor deck looks out upon a lake with a small swimming beach. The accommodations were clean, comfortable. Cable TV with DSL internet was provided. We would not hesitate to stay there again on our next trip to Maine. I did not include "Families" on my recommendation list solely because the cottage we stayed was more for two (although there is a futon in the living room).

Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Boothbay Cottages is a fantastic place to take the whole family (even if that includes 3 dogs!) and spend a week relaxing, catching up on all that reading you've been meaning to do, walking, enjoying the ocean view and the waterlillies, turtles and frogs in the pond, the village bookstore and shops, and all the nice neighbors. The cottage owners take great pride in ensuring everything in the cottage is perfect for a stress-free, relaxing (there's that word again) vacation. We'll be back!

We stayed in the smaller of the two cottages--one bedroom, one bath, a combination living room/kitchen. The cottage has tons of character, wood paneling, vintage appliances, super quiet--a classic Maine coastal experience in every way. It also has a deck overlooking a lake dotted with lily pads, and the lakeside beach is about 15 steps away. A short walk (maybe a 50 steps) in the other direction brings you to a wooden dock bobbing on a bay. We could not have had a better time or found a better place. Highly recommended!

Left on 05/11/2012 for a stay in April 2012
What a beautiful location. We and our two large dogs stayed in the Lakeside Cabin w/a beautiful view of the lake across the country lane.
After driving 4 days cross country this was a welcome respite. Cabin is clean well stocked with everything you need to cook/relax/recreation. Plenty of info on local things and sites to see and do in the area. Very quiet which was nice (we stayed in early april)
I was not only looking for pet friendly, but pet friendly town and things to do. I was pleasantly surprised how pet friendly the area is. Of special note: the local land trust has many preserves. Many are dog friendly and some off-leash friendly as well. We visited several during our stay. Picturesque, and lots of birding available.
I highly recommend a stay at Boothbay Cottages. Very close to main town but off secluded in the woods next to water -perfect. -

The adjacent trails are lovely, and we appreciated the out-of the way location. I imagine it's somewhat busier in the summer, but so near to the end of the dead end street, it's can't be too busy.
The cabin is small, but clean, well appointed, and serviceable, with a deck overlooking the sandy beach of the pond. -

Boothbay Cottages was so accomodating. We always travel with our dog so it was nice to find a pet friendly place to stay, but, it was very nice to find a place that did'nt look like a pet friendly place. The cottage had everything we needed plus extras...there was even a food and water bowl for "KiKi". We decided to visit Maine kinda on a whim, and pre-season...Susan, was so wonderful as to open the cottage early for us. The cottage sits down a nice quiet lane, and right outside is a nice sandy beach on an inland lake. It was beautiful, we couldn't ask for anything more. We will be regulars at the Boothbay Cottages.

Georgetown, TXWonderful august in the Cool "From Texas"
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This vacation is the best we've ever had. Even the dogs were in seventh heaven in this great 2 bdrm/bath home. We didn't want to leave. Great private location/very relaxing/close to everything/all the conveniences of home are just a few ways to describe this location. The lake on one side, the ocean on the other was so great.
The conveniences of deck/kayaks/lawn chairs/washer & dryer on site made it seem like our home instead of someone elses. It was 3 weeks of pure heaven from the over 100 degree temperatures in Texas. There is a great city park to take the dogs or picnic and its right on the water. If you love to walk, you'll love this place. Susan Morris is the best-if you have a question, most of the answers are right there in the livingroom table. If not there, she's easy to call or email and will get you the info. She is just plain great and so is her place. Our son-in-law and grandson came to visit and the 2nd bdrm w/attached bath was so perfect. They loved it too and we weren't falling over each other like other rentals we have had. -

Happy Family with Dogs
Long Island, NYGreat for family with kids and dogs
Left on 07/31/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We loved our stay in the Ocean View cottage. It's cute and nice enough to feel comfortable, but not so nice that I had to worry about my kids all the time. The wifi is nice convenience, and the kids liked the big TV.
Beware that the pictures do not tell the whole story. The pictures don't convey the smell and feel of the ocean breeze that you feel while sitting on the deck, or even while you're inside with the windows open. It's mesmerizing.
We enjoyed kayaking with the kids on the pond, and hiking some of the Boothbay Region Land Trust trails, which are easy enough for small kids.
Our dogs had a great time swimming, and romping in the woods. I am happy that the owner is welcoming to responsible pet owners.
Overall, we had a great time, and the cottage had everything we needed. We hope to go back next year (so if you're reading this, please don't book the week we want!). -
Atlanta family vacation

Left on 07/31/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My family (including our dog) spent a week in the Oceanview rental. We go to Boothbay each summer and it was our first time renting this cottage. The location was perfect for my teenagers. My son enjoyed fishing off of the ocean dock and the lake while my daughter enjoyed swims in the lake. The kayaks were also put to good use in the lake. I enjoyed walks with my dog on the nature trails. The house was clean and had a lot of room compared to other Maine cottages I have rented. It is a very short drive into town -- and close enough to walk (which my teenagers did with their friends!)
In addition to the cottage being great, the neighbors in the area were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome to the association. We would highly recommend this house for families with children - the location near the lake allows for easy swimming (in warmer water than the ocean) that you can't get in other areas of Boothbay Harbor. -

Along with our dogs, we enjoyed our stay here. Enjoyed the view of the lake from the cottage as well as the bay from the deck and drive. The long stone drive and trail nearby were great for walking and the dogs loved them. Great location only minutes from restaurants and shops in Boothbay Harbor, yet very remote on private road.

Stayed in the lakeside cottage in the fall and it was beautiful. The setting is serene and the cottage has everything you need to enjoy the area. We had two dogs with us, who loved going for many walks around the area, including just right out the front door to the lake or to the ocean. We loved Boothbay and have some of the most spectacular pictures of sunsets I've ever seen taken down over the harbor. The town has a few nice restaurants and lively bars, but we mostly stayed around the cottage. We easily cooked meals and relaxed at this stocked cabin! Susan was a fantastic host and provided lots of ideas for places to go, suggestions for activities to enjoy with the dogs, and was very easy to work with!
We loved going out in the kayaks on the lake and just watching nature surround us from the deck. We hope to return soon--maybe this time with the ocean view! -

We had a great time in Boothbay Harbor. The house is very comfortable and the location perfect. We 've enjoyed every minute of the week we've spend there. Definitely a plus are the kayaks! Our teenage girls had lots of fun with those (and so did we). We even walked to the town from the cottage (nice walk and good exercise). We did the whale watch (a must see!) and enjoyed diner in one of the bay restaurants with, of course, ocean view.

Nice to have our own private cottage in a very quiet woodsy neighborhood. Loved having so many places nearby to tour and explore by day, and dine at night not far from "home".
We really enjoyed getting fresh caught lobster at the dock and cooking up our own feasts in the cottage. Just love the state of Maine! -

We had a perfect and relaxing week at Oceanview! We were impressed with so many things, beginning with Susan Morris, who unhesitatingly said "yes" to the three dogs. The cottage is very spacious - plenty of room for three large poodles, who loved relaxing in the sunshine on the outside deck. The beds and furniture are comfortable and the thoughtful décor makes the cottage feel more like a home than a rental. And because we like a nice relaxing dinner in, the large and well equipped kitchen was a bonus. The Boothbay region is beautiful and has lots to see and do, so you can be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. We enjoyed our time at Oceanview so much that we've already booked our next vacation.
