      Traumurlaub in schöner Umgebung

Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in October 2012

      Villa:
      Fazit:
Der Urlaub war einfach ein Traum!

Great way to get the true island feel

Left on 06/19/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My wife and I stayed here for two weeks (end of May, first week of June). Pierre was extremely helpful and informative regarding any questions we had during the booking process. The pictures of the property and the amenities listed were just as they were advertised. After talking with some people while there, it seems that there are two versions of the Bora Bora experience. Many of the travel brocures show the beauty of the overwater bungalows at the main hotels. The people we spoke with loved being there, but felt somewhat limited in what they could do because most of the hotels are on private Motu's, and not easily connected to the main island. We chose the house rental and car rental becuse we prefer to be a little more independant on our trips. We were able to get to many of the local places of interests that were outside of the traditional tourist activities. All in all we were very stisfied with the accomodations and would recommend to anyone.

Things I was worried about, but ended up not being a problem:
-AC in only one bedroom. I thought since this was the tropics, we would have to sleep there every night. We only spent one night in there, as the trade winds blew away all the heat every other night.
-Wire transfer as method of payment: I was worried as there are no real protections for wire transfers, but Pierre did everything he said he would do and everything happened as agreed upon in advance.
-Views from the Villa: Usually think most pictures for rentals are done by professional photographers. The villa looked right out over the lagoon where the sunset everynight. Views were spectacular!
-Construction talked about in other reviews: Thought this would be an issue, but the building exterior is complete and they are just finishing up some of the interior, so there was no real amount of noise that was intrusive. The building does not interfere with the view, either.

      Cautions:
Parking: If you are not a good driver, parking can be a little tricky. You have to go up a very steep, one lane incline to get to the parking pad. The cars are small enough to fit, but I had to have my wife direct me from outside the car the first few times we parked. Have to do this because you need to turn the car around in a tight area in order to go back down the incline. They do have parking at the bottom of the hill, but see my next caution...

Stairs: You are on the side of steep hill, so there are about 40-50 stairs to climb from the parking pad. Usually not an issue since we are in average shape, but hauling the suitcases up the first day was a little tough. If you park at the bottom, that turns into 150-200 steps.

Driving: Can be very tricky at night. Limited street lights, and lots of dogs and people walking on the edge of the road. Mind the speedlimits and always watch the edge of the road and you will be OK, though.

Ants: do what Pierre suggests! As long as we kept the counters clean, and no food out, we really did not see any ants at all. If anything was left out, though, they showed up quick. They were small and not a problem, but you really have to keep the place clean.

In summary, my wife and I were expecting the trip of a lifetime here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We got exactly what we wanted and expected. We like to get lost with the local and not be dependant on a hotel schedule or amenities. Renting the villa was a much more affordable way to see the island.

      Dear Bill,

Thank you so much for your kind review! I am very happy that you enjoyed my villa and the way of life of the Polynesian people. That is exactly what I expect my guests to find while staying at my villa on Bora Bora. Almost all the hotels are located on private islets in front of Bora Bora main island. The hotels try to keep the tourists by themselves without giving them the opportunity to visit Bora Bora. Staying at the villa on the main island gives you much more freedom to come and go and to discover the island (its villages, its amazing and luxuriant nature as well as its very nice inhabitants). Thank you again for staying with us! Pierre

The Villa and the panorama is outstanding

Left on 05/18/2012 for a stay in May 2012

For many years we had a dream Bora Bora. Finally we made it happen and found the wonderful Villa in Faanui /Bora Bora via internet.
The Villa itself is a wonderful house on the hill with outstanding panorma overlooking the fascinating Lagoon.
The Villa has a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, one bedroom (2 beds) a large living room (one double bed) and a beautiful covered Terrasse.
There is a small beach in walking distance. However a car is a must as most of the shops are about 15 - 20 minutes drive from the Villa as well as the beautiful Matira Beach and Restaurants.
We have booked this Villa for two weeks. We have enjoyed it very much.
Everything was well organized by the owner from the beginning to the end. The owner is professional, reliable and acts quickly.
We can highly recommend this beautiful Villa.

Nice Villa in an average location

Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in December 2011

The villa is very nice and well furnished. The king bed is very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We were disappointed with the TV as it is located in the guest room and it is an older model that we couldn't hook up our laptop to watch a movie. Not that we wanted to spend much time in front to fhte TV, but late at night it would have been nice.We enjoyed the balcony and found the view to be very pleasant. Overall the villa is great, but the location is lacking. There really isn't anywhere to sun yourself and the "private beach" is an exageration. There is a patch of sand between the road and the overwater bungalows that you can use. There are no chairs, but there is a covered picnic table. From that patch of sand you can hardly see the ocean as the view is obstructed by the privately owned overwater bungalows that face the villa.

Thank you for your very nice comments on our Villa. We have replaced the TV with a brand new model. It is a LED LCD HD TELEVISION (Flat sreen with HDMI and PC INPUT) Concerning the sandy beach, it is always a question of taste but almost all of our guests appreciate this small white sandy beach for its privacy and preserved nature. As the beach is private (just the few people of the area have the right to use it) we don't want to have anything on it like chairs, beach umbrellas or whatever to protect the marvelous nature of the location and first of all the lagoon. Thank you very much for your understanding. Pierre

      Stop Looking!!! Paradise Found!!!

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Hey there, if you are looking for a great place to stay in Bora Bora then you can stop looking and second guessing yourself because you have found the perfect spot.We stayed for 11 days in October,2011 and we couldn't have been happier! The villa is actually nicer than the way it shows in the pictures and Pierre who is the owner, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The views of the lagoon are stunning and the beds are very comfortable. The deck is perfect to relax, or to enjoy a nice meal. Everything is very expensive in Bora Bora so it was nice to have the option to eat in or go out. I would strongly advise that you take advantage of the rental car that Pierre offers because it is about a 20 minute ride to the public beach which is called Matira and it is amazing! Like the previous review states it is a very steep driveway and the car is a stick-shift but once my husband got the hang of it, he was pretty good with the parking. The villa itself has it's own beach below where you can fish and snorkel right out your door, but we usually ended up at the beach because even to drive around the island and take in the sights was wonderful. You can also use the beaches at the hotels surrounding the villa if you eat at one of the restaurants. We did a shark feeding, swimming with the sting rays and snorkeling tour with a company called Chez NoNo's and it was one of the most exciting things I've ever done and the price is right also. If your worrying about a budget and you really want to get the most for your money and stay at a really nice place then honestly you need to stay here.Pierre has local correspondents who are absolutely wonderful people who will help you with anything you need and give you some information about the island. We spoke with people who paid the crazy amounts to stay in the over the water bungalows and we couldn't have been happier with our decision to stay here because we had a view of the whole lagoon, thanks to being up on the hill, which also provided us with privacy but it also afforded us to be able to stay longer and appreciate the beautiful island and it's amazing water. You will not be sorry if you take our advice and stay here because as soon as we can swing it,we will be back for another stay! Hope this helps you with your decision and have a happy, safe trip wherever you decide to stay!

Best lodging deal on the island

Left on 11/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We stayed at this villa for two weeks and had a wonderful time. For the price, I think it is the best deal on the island. Eating out is expensive and we saved a lot of money by being able to shop at the grocery store and have meals at home some of the time. It was often more convenient, private and pleasant to have our meals, particularly breakfast, on the large dining table on the porch with a stunning view of the lagoon. We spent quite a lot of time on that porch. It was always cool and shaded. It often had a nice breeze, but it never got too windy, even when it was very windy right down on the road. The house sometimes got a little warm in the afternoons, but the porch was always pleasant. Everything cooled down enough at night for sleeping, sot the aC in the one bedroom was not really necessary, but a nice plus. The house is set up from the road far enough that there is almost no road noise. It is within sight of the airport, but we almost never heard the planes. The view is gorgeous and the location is convenient. I was able to have one of the dive companies pick me up on "our" dock so I didn't have to drive to go diving that day. I think you get a lot more for your money staying in a house than in a motel or even in one of those overwater bungalows. Those things look cute, but are pretty small and set very close together. We liked our big two bedroom house with its huge airy porch much better. Be warned that the driveway is steep and scary at first. And parking is challenging up there. I got used to it pretty quickly and was soon an expert parker. Just don't rent a big car. Andif you are troubled by mosquitos on the porch (mostly early morning and evenings), they sell those mosquito coils in town. They worked well enough for me that I never had to spray bug stuff on myself. I just sat near the coil, read my book and enjoyed the view. Lovely.
