Melbourne AustraliaA memorable birthday experience
Left on 04/12/2013 for a stay in August 2012
We spent a memorable 7 days celebrating a 70th birthday party with 20 guests. Looking for a chateau suitable for the occasion, we decided on Chateau Lagorce and were not disappointed. It exceeded our expectations with fabulous accommodation, a large outside patio area, huge kitchen where we prepared meals most nights and large living areas, everything we needed including a piano. Edward and anna were charming hosts, on hand to assist with any requests, arranging the caterers for the party and fireworks. As an extra bonus, the weather was wonderful, sunny days and warm evenings which allowed us to eat outdoors at night. We can highly recommend the chateau for any special occasion or just a relaxing holiday with friends. Wonderful memories with lots of photos, thank you so much

Edward and anna are two very loverly people who made us feel so welcome right from the beginning of our stay. My husband and i had a wonderful four day stay at the chateaux. The bedrooms are amazing and the ensuite bathrooms are impeccably clean, we loved sitting out on the small terrace outside our room in the early evening. The food was delicious and so was the wine, i would encourage anyone whether you are going away as a couple or a growing family to experience the delight of a magical place that is " chateaux lagorce"

Miami, FloridaOur fairytale wedding !!
Left on 03/23/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Geraldine an I were married there in March 2013. We had +40 guests, most of whom stayed at Chateau Lagorce with us (3 nights). We had people from France, Germany, England, the U.S. and Venezuela. Everything went really well (thanks to anna and Ed, the owners). Below is an email we sent them few days after the wedding which best summarizes our feelings:
"Dear anna, Ed,
We just wanted to say thank you so much for making our wedding day so beautiful and wonderful. Thanks for helping us put together a fairytale wedding that we will never forget. Chateau Lagorce is a dream location and our guests loved it. The castle, the gardens, the vineyards, the lake were absolutely beautiful even at the end of winter season. We just could not have asked for a better outcome including the weather. You and Ed did an amazing job in upgrading and modernizing the castle without removing its authenticity and charm. Our guests were stunned. I will always remember that we took the kids into a ghost hunt through the hallways of the castle.
You definitely handled everything in a professional manner and we could not be happier! From the food, to the flowers, to the cake, to the photography and to the fireworks, everything was perfect. Thank you for all your help, patience, professionalism and incredible planning. Your care ensured that our day was enjoyable and stress-free. You even went the extra mile by ironing Geraldine’s dress before the ceremony and helping her get dressed. Thank you also for staying with Geraldine and translating her wishes to the hairdresser and makeup artist. Thank you for organizing the Saturday brunch when we asked for it at 8pm the day before. There was absolutely nothing left for us to worry about and we therefore only had one thing to do... enjoy our wedding.
Anna, Ed, thank you again so much for making our wedding day memorable. We are glad we found you and we would recommend you without hesitation to anyone who is considering having a beautiful wedding or any other special celebration in France.
Hope to see you soon,
Geraldine and Florian." -

We just came back from a marvelous wedding on Lagorce. It is nestle among a spectacular greenish, french southern country scenery. Me and my family we were highly pleased with anna and her entourage. The facilities were great, food delicious, attention to details and the hospitality were perfect. If you ever think to use a Chateau in the Bordeaux area, do not hesitate to go to Lagorce. Highly recommended. Kudos !!

New York City, New YorkA Magical Wedding Destination In a Historic Setting
Left on 02/22/2013 for a stay in September 2011
My wife and I had our wedding here in 2011. We had all of our friends and family out for an amazing three night party. Our wedding was everything we wanted during the Bordeaux harvest that September. Anna and Edward were very accommodating allowing us to do most of the organization, planning and design ourselves using local vendors. They've done an amazing amount of work in this historic property which is an absolute wonder. The work will continue no doubt and I look forward to visiting for years to come. A few things that made our trip unique... We did a private tasting and tour of the neighboring Winery (chateau peneau) which grows grapes on the Lagorce property. The tasting was plentiful catered with quiches, meats, cheeses and an amazing assortment of wines. Another highlight for many guests was the secret caves on the Lagorce property. The caves were massive and quite adventerous, snaking under the old foundation of the original castle.

Before booking Chateau Lagorce for our wedding in September 2012, we have read the reviews but after spending 4 days there, we have to say there are no words to describe how great and amazing the place is. The comments (including this one) can't possibly do justice to how truly spectacular the place is and what a great time everyone had. All our guests agreed that it was the best wedding ever, everything was perfectly organized and the setting was magical.
After the first night at the Chateau several people came to us to tell us how great the beds and mattresses are and how well they slept. And these were all people who have a hard time getting a good night sleep in a new location :-)
When you will decide to book this venue for your wedding, you won't have to worry about a thing, Anna will be a life savior, arranging everything and supporting you every step of the way.
The band, the photographer, the videographer, the caterers - everything was perfect and it all went down smoothly (all of our 71 guests came to us and said that this wedding will be a benchmark for the next weddings they will go to :-) )
We had the time of our lives and will never forget this day!!!
Edward and anna - we will forever be grateful to you, for without you none of this would have been possible! -

What a wonderful place. Stayed at Chateau to celebrate our daughter's wedding in June 2012. The setting was magical. Family arrived Thursday and we immediately felt at home. Rest of guests arrived Friday and feedback was very positive. Wedding ceremony on Saturday was perfect (including the weather!). A big thank you to anna and Edward for making the weekend so special. Looking back at the superb photographs taken by Mark ensure the memories come to life.
Anyone thinking of having their wedding ceremony here, do not hesitate. The Chateau is yours for the time booked, no interference from owners but they are on hand for support.
Each room is tastefully decorated with en-suite facilities. The Chateau is set in extensive grounds with a lake and open areas, our guests made full use of the swimming pool and the wine - tasting near-by.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Chateau Lagorce. -

We got married in Chateau Lagorce last month, with family and close friends, 32 in all. Words can't do justice to the wonderful time we had. Anna, the wedding planner is an angel, and was so amazing, I cannot thank her enough for everything. The chateau itself was beautiful, and well maintained, with stunning ensuite bedrooms with high quality linens and bedding, all modcons throughout and a fantastic kitchen. So much to do there, even in the three nights we stayed, we still didn't get to do everything. The wedding day itself was amazing, everything from the catering, flowers, hairstylist, music facilities, wine, fireworks and of course not to mention the photographer Mark, whose photographs were absolutely beautiful. A wonderful time had by all and lots of sad faces when we had to leave, but everyone is already planning a reunion trip back. There is a magic in the air, and we will never, ever forget the wonderful wedding we had and I cannot recommend this venue enough for the wedding of your dreams.

My husband and I have just got back from our amazing wedding at Chateau Lagorce. The Chateau is beyond beautiful and Edward and anna are two of the loveliest people you will ever meet.
The Chateau is decorated beautifully and has all the facilities you need. The Bridal Suite is stunning - with a hot tub on the terrace and a steam room super shower!!
Our wedding day went absolutely amazingly, the angel anna made sure of that. She made sure everything went super smoothly on the day and went above and beyond! Our celebrant was fantastic! The food was beautiful, definately no complaints there! The staff on the wedding day were very attentive and made sure we were never short of wine!
There was a DJ organised for the evening and he was amazing, even done a laser show - amazing!! Mark our photographer was fantastic - so easy to get along with and very professional. All our guests said that they had an amazing time and will never forget the chateau. The only disappointment was having to leave!
Honestly, if you are ever thinking of getting married in France, come here!! We willl definately be going back!!! -

I have just returned from a wonderful week at Chateau Lagorce where 18 of us gathered to help me celebrate my 60th birthday. On the day of our arrival, we were like children exploring the bedrooms and living areas and the outside grounds.
We had a wonderful full service dinner on the night of my birthday and it was a lovely evening with excellent Lagorce wine.
Edward and anna couldn't have been more helpful, especially as the weather was against us for the first few days and we had have the heating turned on! By the end of the week, it was 30 degrees and some hardy souls even swam in the pool.
It was a holiday which we will all remember for a very long time. -

We found the Chateau at last minute. We were looking for a venue for our wedding and we had and were several chateaus across the wets/south of France. At very short short notice one venue cancelled on us and we were franically looking for another location to tie into our trip. We found Lagorce and contacted them imediatly. even at last minute they were more than happy to show us around.
Once we got there the place was simply stunning. The Chateau is deceptivley large and is in some of the most beautiful countrside in France. To put it blunty we fell in love with the place and all other bets were off. My wife to be and I decided pretty much on the spot that this was where we were going to have our wedding.
in the run up to the wedding and during the planning Edward and anna made us feel in control and there was nothing to big for them to handle. During the three days we were there the same rule applied. they were always there to help us when we needed them but were never intrusive or in the way. On the big day itself they were the calm in the storm and had everything under control.
There are not enough words in the english language for me to describe how amazing this place is or how happy we are with the couple who run it. I fully endorse the venue for not only a wedding but as a place to visit. My family is diverse in it's various locations, from the us and UK to the Middle East and the Phillipines and we are already contemplating having our get togethers at Lagorce in the future.
Of the 10 Chateaus we visited this one in it's elegance and beauty one hands down. It's large, comfortable and welcoming and the decor is kept perodic, subtle but with all the Mod Cons. Each room could easily be used as a bridal suite as the standards are that high for such a reasonable price.
The best part about the Chateau is by far anna and Edward.

We got married at Chateau lagorce at the end of March, and it really was the wedding of a lifetime.
With the chateau full of our friends and family (it has 21 individual beautiful bedrooms) over 3-days in the glorious sunshine we had a lovely time.
The onsite facilities are amazing - great outdoor pool, snooker room, big TV for watching Dvds, a lake to walk around and take a paddle boat onto, mountain bikes to hire...they even arranged for a masseur to come and visit!
The wedding day itself was glorious. Michel the Celebrant is a fantastic character, Agence Mess (the band) were superb and the food!!! we had seafood platters followed by beef wellington with fois gras - no way we could've had that in England!
However the true gem is anna. She is the lady I dealt with from my first visit, the whole way through to her waving us goodbye. She is absolutely lovely, and did everything she could to make our day as special as possible (arranging wine tasting, sorting out celiac meals...she even took her own photos on the day so we'd have additional ones!)
do feel free to contact me if you'd like more info - we're even thinking about going back for a group holiday next summer. 1000/100 from me, a very happy Mrs Patterson.

Where do I start?!
We had our wedding here over three days of Easter weekend 2012. After a few months of emailing back and forth to organise the little details when we finally arrived ourselves and our guests were blown away.
The setting is breathtakingly beautiful, a historic chateaux set among the vines and 21 exquisitely decorated en-suite bedrooms.
We had 45 people staying that weekend and ample room for everyone; whether it was relaxing in the drawing and sitting rooms, enjoying a game of blackjack in the games room or an aperitif on one of the many terraces.
It's not your every-day wedding venue and comes without the usual menu and wine tastings you would expect to have before a wedding at home, but fear not! Everyone enjoyed the same delicious wedding dinner and superb wine (even our French guests were raving about the quality!)
Anna, our superb wedding planner can arrange almost anything you need for you special day. When the weather seemed to be conspiring against us she had countless contingency plans and we felt sure we were safe in her hands!
Although the sun shone in the end we had our dinner in the beautiful new function room on the second terrace which seated us all comfortably and turned into a rocking disco later that night!
All in all it was a spectacular weekend that none of us will forget! Thank you!

We got married at Chateau Lagorce in September this year and it was the most memorable week of my life.
We stayed at the chateau with the bridal party which was a mix of ages from 2 - 70 years old! In our party we also had one person in a wheelchair.
The owners anna and Edward are an absolute pleasure to work with made both myself and my husband feel very relaxed and confident that we were in good hands throughout the planning of our wedding.
All our guests thoroughly enjoyed everything about the trip: the food was amazing, the wine was great, the music was perfect, Michel (who does the ceremony) was so very charming, the flowers were gorgeous and most of all everyone was blown away by the spectacular location! The pictures really don't do Chateau Lagorce the justification it deserves!
If you want a beautiful, enchanting and elegant wedding then I would highly recommend Chateau Lagorce. My husband and I will definitely be going back again and again. -

We had our wedding here this summer. The place is just spectacular, it is a dream venue for a wedding party of any size. It has a gorgeous rustic charm which will leave everyone pining to return long after they've departed. Even if you aren't staying as part of a wedding group I'm sure you would have a brilliant time too, as the venue is just so good but our comments below are based around a wedding experience here.
Anna (the wedding organiser) does her best to put any of your ideas for the day into action, although the onus is on the wedding couple to come up with the ideas themselves. Essentially you are renting their home and the whole process is very personal without the type of frills you might expect if dealing with a hotel to organise your wedding eg no food tastings (don't worry its great), chair covers (the chairs are lovely), if you want a bar then you organise it yourself (no big deal) etc.
One note of caution I would sound is that as the wedding is outside the venue is very weather dependent. This is ok if you have a small group as if there is rain, a marquee can be rolled out with one day's notice, but for a larger group ie more than 60 or so, I don't think the marquee would be big enough. In France, even in summer you are exposed to the possibility of a rainy day...so you may have to hold your breath on that score.
Overall though, this place is just the most atmospheric, romantic and personal venue that you could ever hope to have for your wedding - it is truly wonderful.Response from Edward Holmes - 03/17/2013
Owner
Thank you for your kind words Kevin.
We now however have 2 newly renovated function rooms, one accommodating up to 70 people and the other up to 150 people, so the old marquees have been retired!!!

Left on 08/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We have just returned from having our dream wedding at Chateau Lagorce in Bordeaux.
Anna - Chateau Lagorce's resident wedding planner - did an amazing job for us both, organising our wedding for over 50 people in just 5 months. As we are both based in the UK anna made organising the wedding very easy for us with brilliant communication via phone and email whenever we needed her assistance, or when any questions needed to be answered and this really made for a stress-free run up to our wedding at the Chateau this summer.
The Chateau itself was exactly what we were looking for - not too formal, but with a real charm that reflected the local French culture and its own history. The bedrooms, large terraced grounds, lake and swimming pool offered all of us a wonderful weekend away of relaxing luxury amongst the local vineyards.
On the big day anna was an amazing help in terms of organising the florist, caterer, DJ equipment, celebrant, fireworks and more while we spent time getting ready for the ceremony. She was always present during the festivities but kept her distance enough to only get involved when needed and even her husband Edward helped out the following day by organising a brilliant wine tasting for us all which our guests very much enjoyed.
If you're looking to hold a wedding, special party or just want to experience what it's like to live in a true French Chateau for a few days then we can't highly recommend Chateau Lagorce enough. Thank you anna and Edward! -

We rented Chateau Lagorce for our wedding and looked forward to spending time with friends and family all under one roof as we all live far away from one another. The Chateau more than suited our needs, families hung out at the pool, teens challenged each other at the ping pong table, while adults indulged in some wine under the stars in the courtyard. We felt very secluded in the French countryside surrounded by a lush ravine and yet we were a short bike ride away from the local village. St. Emilion and Bordeaux were also very easily accessible and only a short drive away. We were worried that the size of the Chateau might be intimidating but we immediately felt at home and comfortable using the dining room, games room and every other space you could imagine. It was also extremely convenient that every room had its own bathroom and a surprisingly limitless supply of hot water (nice after having travelled through some French hotels).
On the morning of our wedding we woke up and opened the window to our room which overlooked the courtyard and grounds. Some of our friends and family were already up, drinking coffee and having breakfast and enjoying the cool air. The bride and I went to large rooms on either end of the chateau to get ready while our guests lounged around, swam in the pool and drank wine in the shade. The wedding ceremony was held by the pond on the lower grounds, and we began festivities on the chateau’s lower terrace drinking Champaign. The caterers provided a spectacular meal in the courtyard, and we danced until sunrise without a care about bothering the neighbours. It was unquestionably the perfect day and a spectacular start to our lives together.
Our hosts anna and Edward were ever so gracious and we can’t wait to see them again for our 10 year anniversary, after our guests started to protest that we must all return again. -

From the moment we walked into the Chateau we continuously found ourselves in a state of awe and wonder for 5 days. The place was a magical gem hidden from site. Each room drenched in rich history of decor and a landscape straight out of a Juliette Binoche film made our wedding feel truly royal. The owners anna and Edward were the most charming and accommodating hosts...Every smallest detail was taken care of in a manner like it was their own wedding.! Our guests were equally in a state of amazement, esp when the wine from their rolling vineyards were rolled out and food from all the local farmers/butchers tasted so rich in flavor from good practices in agriculture. Whether it be a wedding or a family/friend reunion...this is the place to create memories...we will be coming next again!

We stayed at Chateau LaGorce for a wedding weekend and had a wonderful time. It epitomizes the idea of an escape in the french countryside. The building is rambling and beautiful, the accommodations are simple but are well-suited the un-fussiness of the place, the grounds are wonderful, and the proprietors are welcoming. The drive to and from the chateau gave us a great tour of the surrounding region, I wish we could have stayed longer.

Absolutely magnificent!
Especially for americans, Brits, or other English-speakers, This is your venue in France! The owner, Edward is British and he and his wife anna speak perfect English. This was incredibly helpful in planning and executing our Wedding. They provided a wonderful, private and exclusive location where we were well taken care of and at total ease.
Our guests loved the estate, had fun in the pool, enjoyed exploring the caves and the grounds, and were blown away by the 4-star cuisine prepared by Le Plaisir De Gout. They can provide everything you need for an event, from the wine (of course) to music to lights and fireworks. Trust in their advice. They've got a good thing going.
Note that this is a 14th or-some-centurys-old estate, so it has it's rough patches, but it's mostly newly renovated and well cared for. They make sure you know this and they undersell themselves to keep expectations low, but you and your guests will be blown away. The chateau is utterly magnificent.
The location is close enough to Bordeaux for a cab to get there from the airport or downtown (just make sure guests have a good map) but far enough out to be in the hills and away from the bustle of the city. They have a car service that can pick you up, but a rental car is the best way for your guests to take advantage of the surrounding vineyards. Bordeaux is a wonderful city as well. It is small enough not to be too hectic and crazy, but big enough to have plenty of beautiful architecture, restaurants, and cultural attractions to keep your guests busy.
Stay for at least a week to take advantage of all the Chateau and the area have to offer.
Also check out Chateau Lamothe, which has a beautiful room for 2 people just a few minutes away. It's the perfect place for the Bride and Groom to get away from it all.
If you have questions you may contact me. -

My sister, my wife and I organized a family and friends reunion at Chateau Lagorce the first week in august. I can't begin to tell you how pleased we were with everything, especially the management in the persons of anna and Edward. They did absolutely everything to make our stay comfortable, exciting and fulfilling. The area in and around ,, including the recently renovated city center of Bordeaux.. is stunnningly beautiful. We were 30 people including 12 children plus local friends who came to visit. The 15 bedrooms are beautifully appointed without being to formal or stuffy. The common rooms and outdoors lend an elegant yet relaxed flavor to this Grand old house. The pool was clean and refreshing with plenty of seating. The air conditioning in every bedroom worked extremely well. Surprisingly, even in august, the Chateau remained cool and comfortable at night. Anna is a wiz at organizing special events and has her own list of very qualified florists, caterers, musicians, photographers, etc.. If you are having any kind of a party her services are invaluable. Edward knows the area and its resources like the back of his hand, including restaurants, sports equipment rentals, wineries, and points of interest. He even gave us a traffic report and alternate routing when there was a traffic jam near the airport. Our Hearts will always remember the wonderful time we spent in this magic castle. The chateau came highly recommended by a friend, who had been to a wedding there. I was planning my own wedding and I can tell you, it didn't disappoint. The venue was ideal in that it was so close to Bordeaux that guests could easily fly in from the UK and then hire a car/taxi. The location was like a film-set and Edward and anna were the perfect hosts. They made both my wife and myself feel comfortable that they could handle all the arrangements (food, wine, band etc). They were not only professional and delivered the goods but were also fun to work with. They made our day extra special.
