Dubrovnik can get very crowded and chaotic in summer and hotels aren’t cheap there. Above the city is a pretty, typical Croatian village called Bosanka and it’s mentioned in the French guide book Guide Routard and in Jonathan Bousfield’s “Rough Guide to Croatia”. It’s less than a 10 minute drive away from Dubrovnik or for the really fit, there’s a path. A stay here gives you the best of Dubrovnik with a peaceful retreat at the end of the day and is a great location for visiting other parts of the coast.
