New Mills, Derbyshire, UKLovely place and very well equipped
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The apartment is in a nice location, ideally situated for the hospitals, colleges and Museum of Fine art. There are amenities locally (shops etc) and the T stop is not too far away either giving fast access to the downtown areas. All in all, the stay was very pleasant. Our only quibble would be the temperature of the apartment - it was impossible to turn off the heat because although turning down the radiator worked, the pipework is exposed and still gives off a lot of heat. There are plenty of windows that open and we found it safe enough to sleep with them open. Highly recommended.

Left on 07/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The arrangements for entering the rental went very well. The apartment was clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. on third floor but very quiet. The location was very nice. Building with courtyard which was well maintained and full of flowers and shrubs. located on the Fenway with pleasant walks. Short walk to Fenway Park. two railway stations.shops.
My stay was brief with hectic sightseeing so it was nice to come home to a quiet retreat at the end of the day.
Minor complaints, could have used a mirror in the living area. Bathroom very small, but good water pressure. -

I came for a course at the Harvard School of Public Health and needed a comfortable apartment during the duration of the course. I searched through Kayak.com and got this accomodation. It was worth the price, a very nice and coll environment, very close to supermarket and shopping malls.
I will definitely recommend to any colleague or friend who will be visiting Boston. -

Chandler, ArizonaWonderful studio rental in great location
Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I have been using Trip advisor on and off for research for a couple years and have yet to leave a review. After staying in this studio apartment, I decided it was time to sign up for an account and write a review.
Really, there are two separate entities that should be reviewed. The apartment itself, and Bed and Breakfast associates Bay Colony - the agency that manages the rental. I would give both 5 stars.
This studio apartment is in a great location. It is a 2 minute walk from the Fenway T station on the green line. It is on the border of a residential neighborhood next to two smaller colleges. Across and up the street are commercial areas with shopping including a grocery store, many restaurants, and about a 7 minute walk to Fenway Park.
The apartment itself is on the third floor of an older building with a great view of the courtyard. As I am giving this apartment an excellent rating, that probably depends on expectations. If you are expecting a luxury hotel in pristine condition, this is probably not the place for you. We were not expecting or looking for luxury accommodations, so this studio apartment was perfect for us.
When we arrived, the apartment was very clean. The unit has more than enough room for 2 people and with the futon, I could see how 3, maybe even 4 could stay comfortably. Although we were only there for four nights and did not use the kitchen much, although small, it would have worked fine if we wished to cook a few meals. It was nice to have a coffee pot and full refrigerator to store milk, yogurt etc for our breakfasts...all of which can be purchased from the grocery store directly across the street.
The bathroom is small but functional. I don't really see how two women would be able to get ready at the same time, but again, we didn't require that. The Murphy bed was perfectly comfortable for us. The main room that has the bed was plenty large that we didn't bother to fold the bed up at all while we were there. To top it off, a good selection of cable TV channels and free WiFi are provided.
By far, the best thing about this unit was the location. it was about a 15 minute T ride to the heart of Boston and all the tourist attractions. Coming from and going to the airport took about 20-25 minutes with only 1 train transfer. While staying at this apartment it feels as though you are a resident, not just visiting.
When I was looking for a place to stay for our trip, hotels in the immediate area were double the price of this apartment. Overall, it was a great place to stay and if I ever run into anyone going to Boston for vacation, I would recommend this accommodation. The only possible thing that would make this apartment a bit nicer would be a small remodel of the bathroom, in particular the flooring.
Lastly, the company that manages the property, Bed and Breakfast associates Bay Colony, was excellent to work with. From booking and payment through instructions for getting to the apartment, everything was top notch. I believe they manage several properties, so even if you don't want to stay here, see what they have available elsewhere. -

First I'd like to say thank-you to the person who informed us they had a place available for the dates we were wanting to come. We had looked for many hours and sent many emails, we left it too late, especially with the Boston marathon on april 16th. So we learned to book early. We liked the apart. The Murphy bed was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. We appreciated the books and maps about Boston and used them everyday. It was a cozy place to call home for a week. We were happy with the location, near hospital district, so there were lots of ambulances, sirens to get used to. Near enough to a grocery store, that was a plus. We found a parking garage for our car, but didn't know where to park to unload our luggage, we did it out front on sidewalk but maybe there is a spot out back? We really enjoyed our week in Boston , Bostonians were friendly , helpful , we had a great time. A young fellow who works at the Padera bread shop near our apartment told us about ace ticket and we were able to get a ticket for Boston red socks home opener and it was the best day.

As tourists, the apartment suited our needs quite well, was comfortable enough, and was well located near a T station and supermarket.
Telephone did not work and door release on Microwave was broken and needs repair/replacement.
Major problem was that key did not arrive before leaving the designated mailing address and we had to phone tha landlady to gain access on arrival. She was very obliging and arrived with key in about 45 minutes.Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 10/11/2011

We wish this guest had contacted us to let us know that the phone was not working and the microwave door was broken. We would have addressed these issues while they were there. Regarding the key … Per the guest’s request, the key was mailed to their hotel but the guest never asked for it at the front desk. We confirmed that the hotel did receive it and they fedexed it back to us. We were happy to bring another key to the guest at the apartment, but we do want to clarify that we did send the key on time, to the location they requested.

Left on 10/28/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Easy to get into the centre of Boston - good transport links. The bed was quite uncomfortable - it seemed to sink in the middle. The instructions on how to find the apartment weren't great it took us close to 1.5 hours to find it when we were right on top of it - the first right turn after Best Buy actually puts you opposite the apartment block. You can also drive past the block from that point. It would be good to say take second right after Best Buy and actually name the road you should be turning onto - that would at least ensure you knew you were on the right road. You should also name the first right turn after that because again that would help ensure you were on the right road - also if you couldn't find it you would at least then be able to ask people where those roads were. Having about 6-8 calls after leaving the flat - presumably to ask me how it was didn't amuse me either - I appreciate you want feedback but you might want to consider how much it costs for me to receive calls via my UK mobile when abroad - approx $2.50 per minute - much better to send me an email that I can respond to at my convenience.

Left on 09/02/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The place was great! Easy to get to and quite central. We were concerned with a straight shot to BU and Fenway Park, and got both. Also, price was excellent compared to neighborhood alternatives. Place was comfy enough for three adults, two in murphy bed, one in futon at our feet and well equipped with basic necessities of a homey lifestyle (tv is nice med size flat screen, not old like in photos). Near grocery store, shopping ctr.(best buy, staples,b,b,and b, regal 13 cinema, etc.) T stop (all across nice sized green space and crazy intersections, 2 to 5 minute walk, depending on traffic. 10 to 15 min walk to Fenway and BU). Only drawback? Sirens. It's on the ambulance route to a few area hospitals. Beautiful building, beautiful courtyard, great laundry room. Note: unit is on third floor. Elevator works fine. We would definitely come back. Maybe check out other BnB props in different neighborhoods. Also, we had a "situation" which was dealt with in a most satisfactory manner, which definitely makes me want to come back to this owner and to further deal with BnB.

We got lost trying to finding it but that was my fault for getting totally turned around and not fully reading the directions or about the keys. However, once in, the building and the place was great. Very clean and nicely decorated, beautifully landscaped and kept up. The location was perfect - close to Fenway and the T stop. We loved it and would definitely come back again! The mattress was the only draw back. Not very good quality.

Left on 06/26/2010 for a stay in June 2010
My Mom and I stayed here for 4 days between tours and it was just what we expected. The pictures and description are true to form. We enjoyed the location to subway, stores, and restaurants. The laundry facilities in the basement were great. I would stay again. It is small for more than 2 people, but comprehable to a hotel room with the bonus of being able to prepare meals. The bed and futon were both comfortable.
The only drawback is that the place is close to a college and has a large percentage of college kids as residents. As a result, there is an occasional problem with loud music. The neighbor loves his bass! It wasn't nightly or constant but annoying enough to not give the place 5 stars. -

Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in May 2010
My wife and I stayed three nights in this cozy and comfortable unit. It is small - a living room, kitchen/dining room and bath. However, the bed was a queen sized murphy. It was comfortable when in use and lifted out of the way during the day. Once removed, the living room was comfortable to sit and work in. The kitchen was fully and well equipped and the dining area sits four easily.
Other than the facilities, which we attractive and useful, the best thing about the apartment was its location. It is within easy walking distance of several Boston colleges -- Wheelock, Simmons -- of the MFA and of Fenway park. The grounds of the apartment are well maintained and we enjoyed our visit very much. -

The room had everything it said it would: linen, full kitchen, pull-out futon, the location was good, we were able to find it and the parking just as described. The location was good for us and having an apartment in Boston really felt like we lived there, that was a plus. However I found it very noisy because of the street traffic and hot. You should add that it has an internet connection on your advertisement. Also the picture in the add is not quite the same, this place needs a new coat of paint: just like home!

LondonBostonians don't drive?!?!?!?
Left on 04/17/2010 for a stay in April 2010
Nice place inside. Great beds, kitchen amenities,
tons of storage and clean linen! TV was great when
we figured it out - could use better instructions.
Negatives include: Smell of urine in the elevator
for the whole week! Was told could drive up to
entrance to drop luggage, but in fact you cannot
drive up to entrance due to significant courtyard.
Had to park with hazards on in adjacent driveway
which was not exactly safe. Thank god my mum could
sit in the car with my sleeping children! Parking
is a MAJOR issue. I was told Bostonians don't drive
as a decoy to the fact that owner could not offer
parking. Of course Bostonians drive, what rubbish
to say they don't! Owner couldn't clearly direct me
to a parking garage, but my mum was able to help
and found one where parking cost up to $30/day
diagonally across the way. Still, not exactly
convenient for a mum with 2 small children and
luggage to transport back and forth! Owner should
arrange for temporary parking permit for guests or
lower the price to reflect this drawback.Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 04/28/2010

We appreciate this guest’s feedback and would like to address some of her concerns. We give personal attention to our guests and their requirements as each property is unique. It is important to us to meet their expectations.
1) When this guest inquired about reserving this rental, we clearly explained the parking situation and told her that we did not think it would be a suitable setup for a parent traveling alone with young children. This property has a beautiful front courtyard, and we explained that she would not be able to park close enough to the building entrance to leave her children in the car and unload luggage or to park in the public garage and walk alone with her luggage and her children. The city of Boston does not proved parking permits.
2) For her travel dates, she needed accommodations at short notice and we did not have any availability in what we would consider a more suitable property. The guest chose to go ahead with her reservation here. With such short notice we personally delivered the key to her mother and felt better knowing that she would be with her to help. We gave her instructions to park in the adjacent driveway to unload luggage while her mother waited in the car with her children.
3) Parking IS a challenge in Boston precisely because so many people do drive in the city. Because of this, we discourage our guests from bringing their cars whenever possible. When, as in this situation, a car is necessary, we make sure our guests understand the parking situation. Our guests appreciate this information.
4) When we were told of the urine smell in the elevator, we immediately contacted building management and sent staff that same day to evaluate the situation. Our staff did not detect any odors in the elevator or hallways.

CanadaGreat place to stay as an alternative to a hotel.
Left on 03/18/2010 for a stay in March 2010
The location of the apartment is great, 3/4mins to Fenway T stop from which you can get you anywhere in Boston in 10-20 minutes. A walk-able distance to the Museum of Fine Arts and plenty of local amenities (grocery store, places to eat and shop).
The apartment is small, the advert does say 2-4 people but it is definitely a 2 person studio to comfortably stay for a few days. The kitchen facilities have everything you need to cook with and a dining area. Small bathroom but again usable. The apartment has plenty of blankets and towels, and was clean and ready for us upon arrival. Allowed us a late check out so we could leave our bags until mid afternoon on the day we left which was very useful.
Perfect for a weekend away as an alternative to staying in a hotel as additional privacy and allowing you to cook at home make this great, however, it is a small studio if you were considering a longer lease for more than one person. -
