This area of Boston is wonderful because it looks like a village while it is very close to the Prudential Center. I really recommend this place from where you can reach any spot in the city either by walking or by taking the T-line. Kitchen is well-equipped, flat is clean. The only trouble was already mentionned about the washing-machine, which is never available because all the linen are left inside until the next washing cycle. I had to take it out to get my clothes washed, which was quite unpleasant.

Have stayed a number of times here. Clean, pleasant studio apartment - good for short term (2-3 nights) and potentially longer. Good beds, functional appointments. Good value.
I think a proper cooking knife or two would be a plus. -

Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I used to live in a studio in the Back Bay years ago. Returning for work, it was great to have Braddock Suite to relive the fun and charm of living in a studio all over again! I definitely recommend this location and this studio. Super kind owners, easy access to the Orange Line, restaurants, and shopping, and overall terrific neighborhood. The only slight challenge was figuring out the lock box, but I read about that in another review, so I was prepared for that to be a little confusing in the snowy, cold weather when I arrived. I look forward to returning again when I have work in Boston!

The downstairs studio was very quiet and clean, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. It was insulated and warm, so the weather outside didn't affect us indoors. It was just within walking distance of the Hynes/Prudential center, and anything we needed was somewhere in between, so it had an excellent location. I imagine the parks nearby would be beautiful in the spring.
Our only complaint would be the shower, which ran lukewarm/cold after five minutes, so we had to take very quick showers. -

MontrealLovely accommodations, great location!
Left on 02/25/2013 for a stay in February 2013
I stayed in the Braddock Suite for five nights to attend a conference at the Hynes Convention Center. The studio was clean and comfortable. The furnishings were charming (the bookshelf filled with books was a nice, homey touch|) and the kitchen was fully stocked. The wifi worked perfectly. The price is great and the location is amazing. It's a short walk from nearly everything in the Back Bay area, and the metro station is just a few blocks away.
The suite is easily accessible through the back entrance, but getting down to the basement level from the front entrance is a bit awkward, especially with a suitcase. The staircase is steep and the hallways are pretty narrow. You can leave your suitcase by the back entrance and pick it up once you're inside (I did this on the way out - much easier!), but I wasn't comfortable doing this at night when I arrived.
The only downside I could think of is that the walls are pretty thin, so you can hear people walking around, talking, babies crying, etc. It didn't really bother me (I'm a heavy sleeper and I live in an apartment so I'm used to the background noise). But I could see it being a little bothersome for a light sleeper who's not used to apartment living. -

Sydney, AustraliaWell located, comfortable, boutique Boston accommodation
Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This garden level studio apartment is located in Boston's South End. The building is a private residence, with a couple of rental apartments - one on the ground floor (street level), and a studio in the basement (this one), which is at garden level and its own private rear entrance.
The studio (this property) is beautiful - just as pictured. Furnishings are high quality, the bed very comfortable, bathroom small but functional, and kitchen perfect for those looking to self-cater during their visit, with family sized refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and 4 burner cooktop. A full-sized laundry is outside your studio door which is handy for travellers.
The property is set in a quiet, residential district and adjacent the south-west corridor park, where locals walk their dogs and commute to and fro from downtown Boston. You are an easy, 5 minute walk to high-end shopping and touristy areas from here, and ideally placed to discover Boston's South End district, which has excellent eating options, independent boutiques, and pretty neighbourhood parks (a bit like central Paris or London).
The location is a1. The Back Bay train station is 4 blocks away, with local subway, district commuter rail, and intercity (Amtrak) connections to New York and Washington, D.C. Buses to the Longwood medical area (Harvard medical school) and Museum of Fine arts are only 2 blocks away, as is the high end Prudential Center shopping mall and another subway station. There is a good sized budget supermarket in the Prudentical Center (Shaw's - like Tescos or Woolworths or Coles).
Ditch the overpriced hotel chains in Boston, and stay here on your next visit. -

I loved the location: nice tree lined street, flowers ans a quaint little fountain, real neighborhood feel, cute dog park and very - and two T(metro/subway) stops within 5 minutes walk. there is fine old style breakfast-lunch place nearby(all info is available in a binder kept in the apartment), or if you prefer, there is a mall with Starbucks etc. again within 5 minutes walk. I wish I had more time to walk around and explore this neighborhood but I came for a conference and basically spent only nights there.
The hosts are very friendly but not at all intrusive.
Apartment is very nice for a solo/couple. It has everything you would need (except, I believe aC - but it was not needed during my stay).
I would suggest a better lighting for entering the key combination. -

We very much enjoyed our stay. The location was great, our hosts very gracious and attended to our requests promptly. The studio well presented and laid out. Being able to exit the studio via the garden entrance was also a bonus. The only problem we encountered was with the key lock outside the front door. It was very poorly lit (we arrived at 8pm) and difficult to open/close.

What a marvelous location! We could walk to restaurants, grocery and liquor stores, Prudential Center, the Back Bay "T" station, Copley Square and even Fenway Park on a pleasant day. This studio apartment was comfortable, although lacking in wine glasses, soap for the shower, and reliable wi-fi in the basement. The owners were out of town while we were there, so we were not able to rectify these minor issues.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely! We very much enjoy the feeling of being part of the city instead of locked away in a sterile hotel room.Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 11/13/2012

Very obliging and accommodated an early arrival request. Wonderful location, charming suite; however, my number one requirement is free wi-fi. I not only plan my trip details with it, but I also facetime and skype for long distance calls to family. I would never have booked if I had known that the internet works on the upper floors only. Without the internet I also couldn't look for alternative accommodations. The owners did not return my phone call complaining about the lack of internet service. After later calling Boston BnB, they said to try calling the owners again. The third phone number worked. Lack of awareness of the problem is now undeniable.

We stayed 3 nights in this apartment.
The aprtment is very spacious and most comfortable, close to shops and transport, bed very comfortable. Quiet location and very restful.
Okay, now for the bits of advice.
Other reviews suggest going into apartment, opening the back garden door and carrying luggage in through there. Good idea, the bruising from my fall down the steps is almost gone now.
If you are going to bake some bread or use the oven then open all the doors and windows or you will have to fan the smoke detector for at least a half hour, very sensitive.
Internet access is very sporadic and slow when it is working. Have an alternative.
Aside from the few niggles however we loved our time in this apartment. -

Left on 08/25/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This apartment was fantastic - all of the pictures and description are accurate. We stayed here for a weekend at the start of august and loved our stay. The apartment is spacious, clean, well furnished and provided a taste of Boston living in a lovely safe area. It was also good value for money. Tremont Steet is very close with lots of great restaurants and the Prudential Centre is an easy walk away - from here you can get the trolley tours which I would highly recommend in terms of giving you a good overview of this lovely city. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen and access to washing and drying facilities which were handy after having been away for two weeks before we arrived in Boston. There are full sized toiletries, a hair dryer etc and the studio really feels like a home from home. I was not sure about staying in the heart of the city as we had a car however, we managed to find free parking on the street from after 6pm on the Friday to 8am on the Monday which was great. There are nearby parking lots however and I would definitely suggest that staying in the heart of the city would be worth any parking costs. We loved Boston and would definitely look to stay in the studio again if we were to return. The only slight cons were that the wi fi signal was weak in the basement (but that is not really why you visit a city as great as Boston) and it took some initiative to get in (get the keys and then bring your bags round the to the back door once you are in the apartment - top tip found on here!) bar that highly recommended!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at 19 Braddock Park. The place was homey and comfortable with a hair dryer. It was close to the T station and within walking distance of the Prudential center. Close to everything really. I concur with a previous reader who warned about lugging the luggage down the stairs. After our initial entrance off of Braddock Park, we just used the back entrance and managed to discover the Southwest Corridor Park with children's play area, enclosed dog park and community vegetable gardens. That was really nice to see. We also came across a larger community garden when walking back to the studio along either Ipswich or Boylston. Really nice to see in an urban environment. Nice restaurants and a convenience store right on Columbus. Also, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods nearby. We will come back.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner and it was comforting to know they lived upstairs if we had any problems or queries. The studio apt is perfect as its very private and has a separate entrance through the back courtyard.
We fell in love with Boston and staying in this beautiful apt in stunning back bay helped us to enjoy the whole Boston experience. We will definitely return to Boston one day and only hope this apt will still be available
Pros:
Wi Fi
Large kitchen
Beautiful street and area and two subway stations very close by.
Washing machine and dryer available
Cons:
We wanted to do our washing but the machines always seemed to be both full with sheets and all times of the day. We ended up doing our washing late at night and emptying the machines while we did our washing
No spare rolls of toilet paper
No soap in shower so had to go out and buy some -

Pros:
-- Great location/neighborhood. A few blocks from the metro.
-- Charming room and kitchen is well stocked.
-- Free use of washer/dryer.
Cons:
-- Expensive and TV didn't work.
-- Bottom unit and can hear people walking around on top of you (need to sleep with earplugs).
-- Window shades are rollup and one of them pops out of the holder and is impossible to get back in so that it rolls up and down.
-- While the washer and dryer is free of use it is always filled with clothes. It seemed that whoever was using it left their stuff in there all day and night.
-- Confusing where to go to get to the room. It would have been easier to direct us to the back of the house and go through the separate entrance. As it was, the person in the 1 BR rental was nice enough to take us through the maze and explain how to get to the room. -

I was on a college visits'tour in the Boston area, with my son (as a future undergraduate applicant), and decided to stay 4 nights in the studio. Its location is fantastic, we could walk to most of the places and discover easily the campus and meet with admission offices. We had no time to cook although the studio provides for everything, and could find lots of open restaurants/cafes in the adjacent streets.
The studio is located on the lower floor of a typical Back bay house, same level as garden - very calm, we felt arriving inside a family house ! Vey comfortable place indeed ! -

I stayed with my friend in the Suite apartment, which has a nice size, good kitchen and independent bathroom. It was nice to see that it also has an independent backdoor entrance. The twin beds were made up as a king, but they quickly provided us with extra linen to set them up as separate beds.
The location is wonderful, right next to Copley Place, Prudential Center and many stores and restaurants nearby.
The only negative point was that my friend and I were in town for a conference, and free WiFi was an essential reason why we chose Braddock Suite. However, in the 5 days that we stayed, we only had WiFi for 2 days. The service went down or something, it wasn't really made clear to us.
Nevertheless, I'd definitely stay there again! -

Braddock Park studio was a great place to stay--conveniently located in a picturesque neighborhood, photos & description of studio are exact. Positive aspects: very clean, kitchen supplies provided, comfortable bed, great location, wonderful private entrance to a public alley. A helpful binder filled with important information and details on the area is provided. Not so positive aspects: Amenities lacking: only one half of a roll of toilet paper, an 1/8 inch of liquid soap in the kitchen & bathroom, the remote to the old TV had no batteries in it, no filters to make coffee. As weary travelers arriving at midnight, we were not happy with the lack of caring and hospitality. The very specific instructions for the lockbox to enter the building were frustrating because a guest of the owner had removed the key earlier, kept it instead of placing it back in the box for the paying guests (us!) Someone finally heard us in the pouring rain at midnight and let us in. We fortunately had soap in our bags, but had to go out to buy toilet paper & coffee filters to make our stay comfortable. Too much was lacking: a bathroom without toilet paper or soap, a kitchen without dish soap, a coffee maker without filters, a remote without batteries, a lockbox without a key. Please know that others have also left reviews for the owners, and they should be paying attention to the reviews and making this place perfect. What people are asking is not too expensive. Would stay here again just would arrive prepared so exploring Boston the next day was the priority not retrieving supplies.

Cheaper than most hotels and B&B;'s in town, which is what grabbed our attention first!
Check in was neat, almost like a scavenger hunt...would have been less creepy if we didn't show up at 11pm.
Spacious unit for travel accomodations. Could have used a couple of more towels in the bathroom (were there for a week, only 4 towels)...it would have been nice to have a bit newer TV/more channels to watch when in the room. All the essentials in the kitchen, very convenient! WiFi came in handy when planning our itinerary!
Located in a nice neighborhood, we felt very safe during our whole trip. Short walking distance to bars, conveneince stores, cafe's/restaurants, subway transit. Right in the center of all things that we wanted to see (Fenway, Freedom Trail, etc.)...a bit of a walk to each one, but it could have been a lot worse!
All-in-all it was a very enjoyable stay. Unique experience to not ever meet the owners/staff...we felt like we owned the place.
I would stay again, and recommend to anyone who doesn't mind not being waited on hand and foot! -

My husband and I had never been to Boston before, but we were more than pleased with the accommodations on Braddock Street. The rental had everything you needed to cook-in, a wonderful assortment of books to read, suggestions from the owner on places to eat, and brochures a plenty.
We loved the South End. Several times we rode the subway to sight-see. The stop was only a short walk away. One time we walked to the downtown area, and that was very doable too. We ate at anchovies, just around the corner, the first night. The bar/restaurant had a great feel and equally good food. Another night we had dinner at Jaes. This restaurant did not disappoint either. For the same price, or less, than a hotel you can feel like you really are a part of Boston. The back entrance to the apt. made this rental very private. I would do this again in a heartbeat. -

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this location. It was a perfect walking distance to everything one could possibly ever need. The studio was clean, cozy, well-equipped, conveniently across the hall from the washer & dryer, and had an easy-access back entrance. We could hear noises/voices directly above us, as well as some noises from what I think were the pipes, but this was not a major concern. One day during our stay the upstairs was being varnished causing a very strong odor in the hallway that seeped into the studio. Luckily, we were able to open our windows and the smell went away after a day. I think it would have been wise & courteous to schedule the varnish job for just one day when no tenants were occupying the building. We definitely recommend this location and would love to stay here again. Thank you to the landlords and B & B associates Bay Colony for offering a nice property, management, and service.

I liked the studio. There were somethings I would personally like to see changed like less furniture and more practical kitchen ware i.e. cups. The neighborhood was quite but right in the middle of everything. The bathroom was a little on the small side for two girls but we made it work. Bed was pretty comfortable and the TV was a little outdated (VHS) but worked fine. (except the remote didn't) We didn't spend a lot of time in the apt but cooked breakfast and slept well. You could barely tell you were in the heart of the city.

Laundry access was nice since we had already been on the road for 10 days. We had all the comforts of home and not the high costs of hotels.

The only complaint is that there was only 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the apartment and no paper towels, shampoo, soap etc.. We didn't realize this upon check in so had to purchase some after the first evening. Make sure to bring your own of these items.

Left on 03/06/2010 for a stay in February 2010
Having never visited Boston, didn't know what to expect, had no clue where to stay; didn't want car or hotel for a week. Did internet research, talked to people about where to stay, not to stay. The people at Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony in Boston were very helpful, informative and found us a place within our budget! The Garden Studio at Braddock Park was clean, full of artwork, well equipped (all linens, kitchen supplies, laundry/ cleaning supplies). Our hosts, whom we never saw but guess that is appropraite, had large collection of cold-weather gloves and scarves, bicycles, information on Boston, books. Braddock Park is a beautiful street in a beautiful neighborhood. One full day of snow (very exciting for those of us from Southern California); it was beautiful! Neighborhood has a conveniece store, an ATM, a WONDERFUL breakfast cafe and a great pub with good food. Studio very close (2 blocks) from Prudential Center with large mall, public transportation, visitor center. Great price, convenient to everything we could have needed. We really, really enjoyed our stay there. A couple of small things...this is a garden studio located on what I would call the "basement" level off the back garden yard which means you can hear anyone above you; not a problem for us, just a fact. Upon arrival, this also meant carrying our week's worth of luggage down a narrow stairway. However, in the light of the next morning we discovered there is a door (very cool Red Door) exiting out to the back garden yard from the studio level. Had we known this beforehand, one of us would have gone through the front door, through the narrow common hallway and doors, down the stairs and had the luggage waiting at the back door close to the studio. Just so you know. This garden entrance so close to the studio made it feel more private. Loved it and hope to stay again! Thank you to our hosts and to BBABC in Boston!

Lovely house on a quiet street in a really nice Boston neighborhood. I travel to
Boston frequently and love the convenience, comfort, and no hassle nature of
this place. The flat is spacious and it is so much nicer to stay in a real house
than to stay in a hotel (assuming don't need room service, pay-per-view, and
the USA Today out in front of your door every morning). This place is
convenient to public transportation, a full service grocery store, a bunch of
great restaurants, shopping, etc. The owners live upstairs in case anything
goes awry, but the flat is really quite private.
