What Past Guests Are Saying
Tiny bathroom needs an update but great location
Loved the location, loved the building, the spot is small but adequate. Needs an upgrade on linens and a coffee maker
Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 10/29/2013
We are glad this guest liked the location and found value in the accommodation. The sheets were new this spring and the bed cover has just be replaced. There are 2 coffee makers that seem to be working well so we are confused about the note to upgrade the coffee maker.
This was a great option for us staying in Boston and visiting other parts of Massachusetts, quiet, comfortable and relaxing. Close to lots of restaurants on Charles Street with easy access to the Common and T-line station and within walking distance of Newbury Street and Back Bay. Removes all the hassle of a hotel or bed and breakfast and making sure you get up in time for breakfast. I would happily stay here again.
This studio was in a perfect location for our walking tour of Boston! Just 2 blocks from The Commons and Botanical Gardens, we could not have found a more convenient location for the price. We appreciated our host accommodating our travel times, too. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet. The decor needs updating but our daily plans did not include spending much time indoors. All in all, we would stay here again!
Port Coquitlam, BC
Great accomodations - Fantastic Stay!
Perfect for one person or a couple. Excellent location. Can walk everywhere, and subway lines are also close. Super easy to get to and from Logan airport on transit. Information provided on website for this apartment property is 100% accurate. The spiral staircase is narrow as it states, plan your packing/luggage accordingly. This was not a problem for us. I would highly recommend this apartment. Should we get to Boston again, this is exactly where we would want to stay.
Beacon Hill Hideaway stay
The booking experience was easy and straight forward. The room itself was very nice and had everything that I needed. The location was great and the surrounding businesses were convenient for my needs. The thing I liked the least was the small spiral staircase up to the third floor. It was a chore to bring in and out my luggage and laptop bag. The positive side was that having to use the staircase was a good workout.
I would not recommend this listing for large or fitness challenged person because of the small staircase and that the shower is very small.
all was fine! best lokation in town! the place was really in the center but very quite and you can go to all interesting points for tourists by feed. the apartment is really cosy and janet is very kindly. you will have all you need!
Convenient location, great neighborhood, comfy bed, clean, quiet
Convenient location, great neighborhood, comfy bed, clean, quiet room, nice kitchenette, reasonably priced, near 4 T-stops so with a 7 day unltd Charlie ticket we were set to see as much of Boston as 6 days could hold. In-room guidebooks were handy. Overall just perfect for us. The room, while compact had everything we needed. Water pressure in the shower was awesome. Tv sadly didn't get CNN or Espn but we were able to find the weather on the news and a great place just down the street to catch up on sports. Don't miss the nearby Paramount for breakfast and The Sevens for a night cap - way better than Cheers! We'd definitely stay here again.
Beacon Hill wonder ????!!!!
the best and the worst of Boston
Fantastic location !!! But that is all I can say that is good about this rental. Be warned !!! If you are over 35 years old and have luggage over 35 pounds or are a female with large luggage you should not rent this place. There is a steep, very tight spiral staircase that is almost impossible to navaigate up two flights to reach the unit with a suitcase. There was no mention of this in the description of the unit and should be carefully noted to renters. In addition, the room is designed for a student munchkin. It is a very tiny, tiny room. The picture shows a bed about 6 feet wide and 2 to 3 feet on each side. That's it. A bed, a miniature chair and a desk and chair. And that is all that fits in the room. In addition, the shower is meant only for a person under five feet tall and very skinny. If you drop the soap in the shower you have to step out of the shower to bend down and pick up the soap in the shower. The shower head is at 5 and 1/2 feet from the floor. No way can you wash your feet or legs while in the shower. Its small!!
In addition, when you are just laying on the bed you can hear the rats or mice in the walls, especially at night. You can hear them running up and down inside the walls and you hear scratching noises all night and sometimes during the day. Although I never saw a rat or mouse, but I could hear them.
I asked the landlord for any menus of nearby restaruants and all she left was a copy of Boston's Best with no addresses. How does someone not familiar with Boston know where to find the restaurants in the neighborhood? Then after using an ipad we found some really nice neighborhood restaruants within 1/2 mile, but the landlord could, like other rentals we have used in the past, just posted some menus from restaurants.
We did not find the landlord very accommodating. We had a 3 pm flight and wanted to stay until 12 noon and she said the rules were to vacate at 11 and no later. So we left according to the rules.
Response from Bed and Breakfast Associates Bay Colony - 11/13/2012
We’re sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We would like to respond to a few things in your review:
1) We have a full description of the property on our web site, in which we describe the apartment as a “3rd floor walk-up on narrow stairs.” It’s not a spiral staircase, but the stairs do turn at each landing. We also state that the apartment is a 200 square foot studio and that the shower is small. We have several pictures on both our web site and FlipKey, so that guests can get a good sense of the property before they reserve it.
2) We’re not sure what you were hearing at night but it wasn’t mice or rats. This is something we take seriously and we have found absolutely no evidence of rodents in the apartment.
3) We do provide restaurant guides for our guests. We didn’t realize there were no addresses listed for restaurants – our apologies for the oversight.
4) Check-out is 11:00 am and unfortunately, it is very difficult for us to accommodate late check-outs. We are tied to our cleaning service’s schedule and do not have as much flexibility as a hotel in this regard. However, we did accommodate this guest’s early arrival, allowing them to check-in before 4:00 pm.
Bonita Springs, Florida
Great location and convenient to everything. Extremely quiet.
Great location & very nice stay
It was my first time in Boston and this was the perfect location for us. My husband and I stayed here 3 nights. It is just right for a couple. Its a little tight on space but that is made up by the location. Because a) Beacon Hill is a lovely & historic area to live in b) close to everything like Boston Common, Esplanade, Cheers, great restaurants, bars etc c) very reasonable for this location. They were also flexible on our check-in and check-out times. All in all a really nice experience.
location was fantastic, room was comfortable
We stayed for a week during august. It was very hot in Boston but there is an air conditioner in the room which made it bearable indoors - it cooled quite quickly once we turned it on.
There are two flights of stairs to the room and no elevator. I wouldn't recommend this unit for a disabled or claustrophobic person. For us it was just fine!
The room was small but for two, it was fine to manage. There was a little kitchenette which was stocked with most things one would need for a trip away from home, and the closet had hangers and shelves for storing clothes. The room was not serviced at all during the week, which was also fine with us! The owner left us plenty of towels and detailed instructions for trash disposal.
The owner also provided some guidebooks which were very helpful. There was wifi, a TV and DVD player. We felt comfortable in the room.
The neighborhood is absolutely lovely. Unit is near a post office, Boston Public Garden and Commons, and we hardly had to use public transport at all for most of our destinations. Laundromat and grocery were all walking distance.
We would definitely stay here again!
This small room was indeed well located as it is very close to the Boston Common and Public Garden, the Esplanade and 3 different T stations.
The small kitchen offers the possibility to prepare small simple meals, as the essential kitchen wares are provided.
I would not recommend this place during hot summer days though, as the aC is so noisy! Don't forget to bring your earplugs (and good ones) or you won't sleep much...
Otherwise, the room is very quiet and the bed is very comfy!
This was an awesome place.
My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at this location. The owner operator was very accomodating and we would definietely stay there again as well as recommend this place to others.
Wonderful stay in Boston
volveremos a Beacon hill !!!
Fine place from which to experience Beacon Hill and Boston
I rented this room for the week of the Boston Marathon. While the Marathon itself was disappointing with the hot weather in 2012, I was very happy with this room. All was as advertised. Clean, convenient, quiet, and reasonable price.
Excellent Studio in Beacon Hill
The studio is gorgeous and clean, and in a terrific neighborhood (and a good part of that neighborhood). The room itself is a great size--especially for Beacon Hill--though the bathroom is small (fine for one person though!).
The host is wonderful. She is available if you have questions, but she is unobtrusive and lets you do your thing.
The house is beautiful and quiet. Excellent value, especially considering it's literally one block from Charles St, and around the corner from Cheers and the Public Garden. Despite the closeness to Charles St, it's very quiet at night--you only hear the traffic on Beacon St. The two large windows look out on a courtyard (neighbors' backyards) so it could be a bit claustrophobic if you aren't used to it, but it's a typical Beacon Hill view, and the neighboring houses are attractive. This studio exceeded my expectations and I had a terrific stay here!
Cosy and close to everything
This studio apartment was in a great location in Beacon Hill. Easy walking distance to transport, great cafes, supermarket, Boston Common, Charles River etc. Enough space for two people and the kitchenette, while small, is very functional.

Couldn't Have Been Better.
Don't dwell on your Boston accommodations anymore. Just reserve the Beacon Hill Hideaway. Regardless of your reason for being in Boston, this is your place. Perfect location. Beacon Hill is a nook of Boston known for its distinguished residences, quaint shops and delicious eateries. The Hideaway is blocks from Boston Common and and the Public Garden, but more important is its proximity to public transportation (The T). Don't rent a car, you'll want to walk the city to experience the way our nations founders did. Plus you'll need to burn off all the amazing food this city offers. The room is, ehem, quaint. But when compared to a hotel room, size is quickly overshadowed by location, comfort, authenticity and price. Some who are new to vacation rental might be concerned with accountability; who to talk to in the event of a hic-up. I can say that Janet was extremely accommodating, and when there was the slightest of problems she was accessible and on-top of it. Beyond that we rarely saw her or anyone, making the Beacon Hill Hideaway feel particularly like a private home away from home. Reserve it today, and enjoy your visit to Boston. I know you will.
Great location, Great little studio, loved staying here and would definitely do it again!
The accommodations were clean and ready for us when we arrived. The distance to the hospital T-stop was only about 4-5 blocks - brick 10 minute walk. And the Commons were only two blocks away. Lot's of great places to eat in Beacon hill right around the corner!
Can't beat this location/atmosphere/food for the price in Boston! Would definitely do it again!
Another great Boston experience.
We were in Boston for a week again this time. That time element helped result in what seemed to be a crowded situation. The steps are very quaint but can be a bit treacherous for late-night returns home. The neighborhood is great and it's a reasonable stroll down Charles Street to the T.
Pleasant, Enjoyable, and Convenient
Our stay in this Beacon Hill location was made very pleasant with the room accommodation. It was an enjoyable room, that was comfortable for us, and gave us the Beacon Hill experience we desired. The location was surprisingly convenient, within walking distance to TD Garden for a Celtics game, and only two short blocks to Cheers Pub!
2nd time Boston visitor
Great location in Beacon Hill
The location of the room is very good and the room complete with kitchen is very nice. The only problem was the tight spiral staircase leading up to the 3rd floor as it was extremely difficult to navigate heavy roller luggage upstairs.

Location, Location, Location!
The location of this place is awesome! Close walk to the T, Freedom Trail, and other places of interest. It is a small studio, which was fine because we weren't there much except to sleep. The bed was hard and we did wake up in the morning with some back pain, but we slept soundly through the night. One downside to this place is the shower. It is a stand-up only shower and very small. Not much room for maneuvering around. The other thing I didn't really like were the stairs leading up to it. Given, it is Boston and buildings are narrow and tall, not short and flat. It was a narrow, winding stair case all the way up to the third floor. Overall, this place was great and as I mentioned in the beginning, the greatest thing about this place is it's location.
