    Additional Location Information

In 1870, when Dorchester itself was annexed to Boston, it was still a rural community of 12,000 residents. But in that same year came railroad access and ever-increasing residential and commercial development that began to transform what had been essentially an agricultural area. Upper-class Yankees and Irish built one- and two-family Victorian homes on Savin Hill and Jones Hill. At the junction of five streetcar lines, Uphams Corner on Jones Hill became Dorchester’s marketplace. By 1920, with new streetcar and municipal water lines supporting growth, the population climbed to 150,000. Today, the renewed interest in classic city living has brought a renaissance to Jones Hill due to its easy access to downtown, Victorian architecture and diverse population. A truly Boston neighborhood, Jones Hill is one of the finest for long-time residents and visitors alike.

      Spacious, great for a family

Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012

I would have given a 5 star, except that when we almost cancelled, we found out there are no refunds for any part that you have prepaid. It's a good thing that it was only the weather that almost made us cancel, but we made it. Otherwise, the property is exceptional, especially for families. Beats a hotel, any day. Very spacious and the interior has character with what appears to be the original wood floor and trim. T is a bit far for elderly, but private driveway allows for two cars. Great to be able to cook meals in a spacious kitchen while on vacation. Very clean home except for one shower, but it is likely that it was simply overlooked. We would definitely stay here again when we return to Boston.

Great Place to stay while visiting Boston!

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We loved our time in Boston. The house was perfect for our family. We could fix our own breakfast and dinner. The location wasn't too far from a subway station with an ice cream shop on the way. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and extra bedding. We loved the character of the home - the wood floors, fireplaces and moldings. Overall a great place to stay!!
