155032Truest Winter Wonderland
Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011
At Christmas 2010, my boyfriend and I were looking for 5-star-hotel comfort, but in the middle of the woods, as far from civilization as possible, so that my boyfriend (who is English) could enjoy his first real Québec winter (though he has been her for over 8 years, he never had anything else than a city winter). We found our "perle rare" in Jane's Chalet Rose-et-Lys. It was exactly as it was described in its advertising (something relatively rare in itself): beautiful, comfortable, cosy, fully furnished with everything we could possibly want, great kitchen to cook in, gorgeous view of the frozen lake, an incredible drive through the woods at night carving out a tunnel of light through the woods in the dark with glimpses of snowy fields, cottage surrounded by powdery trees everywhere, birds chirping and small wild animal prints in the snow, quietness, huge bed, picturesque village nearby just on top of the most amazing river snaking its way through icy cliffs and hills, high-speed Internet access to stay in touch with civilization if desired, lovely large raindrop-shower and, best of all, crystal-clear sky at night to observe the stars. We had never Orion or the Great Bear so bright. And, despite the fact that our vacation was much too short, it provided what we were looking for and more: a place to relax and recharge our batteries surrounded by wintery beauty. It was fantastic and we never wanted to leave. So, what else could we do but come back again this year, for our special Christmas treat! We did. Again, much too short for our liking. But just as wonderful. And with the addition of the cutest, littlest feral cat to keep us company on the cottage grounds. Now, we are, again, left wanting more and asking ourselves what new wonders Chalet Rose-et-Lys would hold for us in the summertime... One day, perhaps, we will be lucky enough to find out.

This cottage was great for our weekend get away. The owner Jane was prompt with emails and very friendly. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet/peaceful vacation away from the city. Will definitely be back.
