Buffalo, NYGreat Time!
Left on 04/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We will definitely be back again soon. All the modern conveniences, yet very secluded. The main reason we chose to stay here was John, the owner, letting us take our dog with us. He loved being able to get out, run around out back and really enjoyed looking out the large windows of the sunroom.
As one of the other reviewers stated, there is a ton of kitchen stuff available and we definitely did over pack.
Make sure if you stay during the winter months you have a 4x4 truck as there are some steep hills and climbs. Also, arrive during the day rather than at night. We did lose cell phone reception and Google maps decided not to work for a period of time on the iPhone. Had we tried to find the cabin in the dark without GPS, we would have been in trouble!
The owner had great communication with us made our trip that much better. Thanks again John...myself, Staci and Louie (our pup) will be back soon to visit!

Niagara Falls, CanadaRestful and beautiful
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My partner and I stayed at the Hunters View Cabin the first week of april. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice and modern this cabin was, very comfortable and clean. Nicely appointed with amazing views. We did not feel it was over priced. It was quite remote so it was very quiet. The roads leading to the cabin are dirt roads and we were glad there was no rain but the neighbors drive cars so I imagine the rainy season is not a big issue. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Mount Gilead, OhioQuiet and comfortable lodging with an easy drive to civilizaiton
Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed here for 3 nights to experience the Finger Lakes, local eateries and hike some beautiful trails! Hunter's View is simplistic but comfortable housing. We were a bit nervous at first being without central heat but the provided heaters were more than adequate! The property was a nice place to relax at the end of the day, as during the daylight hours we were off adventuring. We also had 4G cell service and were able to stream high quality video on our laptop...
We ate one meal at the local Kozy Korner which was tasty and we would recommend it.
Beautiful trails are nearby and for waterfalls check out Watkins Glen (Gorge trail - open seasonally) and Taughannock Falls (near Ithaca and has a 215ft falls).
The drive to get to Watkins Glen was maybe 20 minutes and another 20 minutes to Taughannock - worth it!
Would stay here again.
The owner was prompt and professional to work with. -

NortonPerfect getaway for staying at the Finger Lakes!
Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I wanted to visit the Finger Lakes for waterfalls and the wineries, but we also wanted to bring our Great Pyrenees dog along with us to enjoy it. Hunter's View advertises that they allow for dogs, and there was plenty of space for our Pyr to wander around the cabin and outdoors to make her happy.
Finding Hunter's View was a little challenging because Google Maps stopped us too early on the road, but after a couple passes, we noticed the sign for it and arrived at this fantastic cabin. The pictures on its website doesn't do this cabin justice. First, it's location is fantastic, being only about a 30 minute drive from Watkins Glen/Seneca Lake, which makes it secluded and quiet.
Stepping into the cabin is yet another wonderful surprise. The kitchen is outfitted with all the modern conveniences you could need to cook there, the living room has very comfortable furniture, along with a TV and DVD player for watching movies, and two bedrooms that are more than spacious. The enclosed porch has additional chairs and a table for enjoying a cup of coffee, breakfast or even dinner.
My husband and I brought everything we thought we needed--from bed sheets to toilet paper, cooking oil to salt and pepper, and it turned out we really didn't need to bring as much as we did. The kitchen was well stocked not only with cookware, dishes, etc, but also with spices, oil, and even aluminum foil. Because it was so well stocked, it made it easy to cook our dinners at the cabin every night, using both the stove and the grill.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hunter's View--it was within an easy drive to the lakes, while still being secluded enough to enjoy being on vacation. We will most certainly stay there again when we return to the Finger Lakes and recommend it highly to anyone who is looking for a way to visit the area on a budget--staying at Hunter's View certainly won't feel like you're on a budget at all!
