What a peaceful and relaxing time, when we weren't hiking, climbing to waterfalls, or photographing the beauty of this area, we were kicking back and enjoying the secluded Willoughby Woods cabin.
Wish we could have stayed for a week or two.
The cabin was clean and the accommodations perfect for our mountain vacation.

The cabin exceeded our expectations. Our stay was very comfortable with five adults. It was great to sit on the porch and see trees instead of other cabins. The location is perfect if you're going to DuPont State Forest. The overall experience was very relaxing and I look forward to staying at Willoughby Woods again!

what an adorable cabin. We had a wonderful time. It was peaceful and relaxing. Had some wonderful steaks on the BBQ and enjoyed the Whippoorwills calling to each other at night. It was very romantic. Also extremely easy to find as the road was very clearly marked. If you want peace and serenity, this is the cabin for you. The price was very reasonable as well.

We have nothing negative to say, it was a great stay. The cabin was a perfect fit for us. Close enough to Dupont State Forest, Ceaser's Head State Park, Pisgah National Forest, and Brevard. We will definitely be back and stay at Willouby Woods Cabins. Great stay.

Asheville NCA serene, private setting with lots of fun activities nearby
Left on 04/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My husband and I stayed in the one bedroom cabin to celebrate my birthday. It was very nice and had everything we needed. The only thing we had to bring was ourselves, food, and clothing. We mountain biked in nearby Dupont State Forest, which is always great fun and then went for Mexican food. The second day was a bit rainy, which kept us from biking. However, we used a waterfall guide inside the cabin to lead us on an adventure to some waterfalls outside of Dupont State Forest. We are familiar with the area and have already hiked to the falls in the forest several times. The cabin has a very nice screen porch, which I would have used if the weather had been a bit warmer. We used the futon as another sleeper (snoring issues which many couples experience). My husband I both found the futon to be too hard of a surface to sleep comfortably. The mattress in the bedroom was extremely comfortable. So, this cabin is fabulous, if you only will be using one bedroom. We will return for a stay possibly in the 2-bedroom cabin when we want to spend more time enjoying the great mountain biking and road cycling in the area. The cabins are only about an hour from asheville NC and the stay felt like we were really "getting away from it all". The cabin had a land line and no cell service, which I actually liked! It is truly nice to disconnect this day and time. The cabin also has a nice entry ramp to serve anyone not able to go up or down stairs.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Everything about the cabin makes it comfortable and cozy. It is very well maintained, nicely furnished, and has all the amenities one might need. The surrounding woods and property are beautiful. If you are looking for a quiet, comfortable get away. This is the place!

Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Leave all your cares at the foot of the mountain and follow the signs up a gravel road to this secluded but perfectly appointed retreat. The rustic-looking cabin with its large covered deck is spotless, very comfortable and the owners have anticipated all your needs with central air/heat, waher/dryer, books, games, maps, walking sticks and more. Walk the woods around the cabin or drive a few miles to explore Dupont State Forest, its uncrowded trails and beautiful waterfalls. Just make sure your arrive before dark so you can read the well-posted signs and give the cabin emergency number to whoever might need to reach you because neither phone nor computer will connect. I came with visiting relatives from France and they were delighted.

Left on 03/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013
It was a lovely trip right from the beginning. Settling into the cabin took no time at all, and the Willoughbys are good people -- we took our time settling in and didn't have to worry about paying them up front. They even invited us up to their house to watch the sunset, which was gorgeous. The cabin itself was spacious, yet cozy -- plenty of room for two people to settle in and feel right at home. It is 10-15 minutes outside of town, but it is fairly close to DuPont state forest which is home to a large collection of waterfalls. What I liked best was the their touch of hospitality... The Willoughbys gave us plenty of space, but at the same time helped us immediately whenever a need arose. Their fire pit is convenient, safe, and a lot of fun to use. All in all, it's a place to get away from the big city and get in touch with nature.

My wife and I stayed in the two bedroom cabin for our anniversary. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Very clean, comfy bed, gas fireplace, and most importantly a front porch to sit on and enjoy nature. The cabin also had all the updated conveniences (dishwasher,washer/dryer,wifi) It's also a short ride to downtown Brevard which has many restaurants options, specialty shops, grocery stores, etc. Also close by is DuPont State Forest which is home to some very impressive trails and gorgeous waterfalls. We hope to come back often. You do have to go off the paved road for a couple miles before reaching the cabin but we were in a Prius and were fine. The other plus about the cabin was that we were able to bring our dog along. (Who enjoyed taking morning strolls and checking out the wildlife outside the cabin) If you're looking to have a feeling of solitude while not being too far from civilization, this is your place.

The one bedroom cabin is set back in the woods off the main road. I would recommend arriving before dark for ease of finding it. There are flood lights around the house that make it easy to see the driveway which goes up around the back of the house if you do arrive after dark. We made several trips back to the cabin in the dark and did just fine but it is dark, and you do need to know what to look for. This is a lovely, clean cabin and the setting is peaceful and secluded, yet not far from the main road. Julie was very nice to deal with and the arrangements were uncomplicated and convenient. We would not hesitate to rent here again. DuPont State Forest (spectacular waterfalls) and Pretty Place are nearby and a must see when in this area. Go, relax and enjoy the beauty of these old mountains and stay in this comfortable home, you won't be sorry. Thanks Julie and Dave we hope to come again.

I rented the two bedroom (pet friendly) cabin in early October, loved it. The cabin was perfect, well equipped (towels, dishes, bedding + any non personal item you'd need, even had a washer/drier and gas fireplace), very clean and a fabulous location -- quiet, near tons of waterfalls but no need to even drive anywhere as there was a nice hike from the cabin. There is also a small pond next to the cabin with a swing for relaxing. Having a bon fire pit close by was also nice. If you wanted to go into town, that wasn't far away either. I will certainly rent again.

After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was sold! They were very helpful and all very true as we came to find out. To our delight, the quiet woods and clean, fully appointed cabin provided the darkest and most quiet place we have ever slept. The cabin had it all, from walking sticks, to flashlights, to tea bags. We enjoyed the fire pit and sitting on the large screened porch. The charming town of Brevard is a short ride down the mountain and has plenty of good restaurants (loved Falls Landing and Dugan's Pub) and shopping for local art. Waterfalls and hiking trails galore can be found nearby. We can't wait to return to the Cabins in Willoughby Woods and have already referred our friends to visit also.

We stayed in the one bedroom cabin. The Willoughby's were very friendly and their service was wonderful. The home was very clean. Real hardwood floors and what appeared to be marble in the bathroom. Full kitchen made cooking at the cabin seamless. There is a wonderful screened in porch on the back where we drank coffee and listened to the birds. Cabin has many guidebooks, so we could even identify the birds and flowers. There is a basket of local travel information that saved a trip to the visitor center. Cabin has a/c and some electric heaters for the chilly nights. There is a washer and dryer downstairs. The cabin is not far from Dupont's mountain bike trails. Driving into Brevard is not far which has lots of shops, restaurants and services. There is not a DVD player for rainy days, so we were glad we brought our laptop to watch movies. The cabin does have cable.

After braving the gravel road to find it, the cabin was such a delight: snug and well-constructed, spotless, lots of thoughtful touches like a luggage stand, a vase of fresh flowers and basil. Lots of helpful information available about the area and how to find things. The cabin feels miles from everywhere, but is convenient to scores of hiking trails and waterfalls. The weather was perfect, but the wrap-around porch would be pleasant on a rainy day. There is a full kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer. There is a gas fireplace, even a tv (if you must). It was hard to leave.

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Julie was my main contact and she was very friendly and accomodating. Our plans changed at the last minute and the change was possible with Julie. We especially wanted our dog, Kaiah to be a part of our vacation in Brevard. She loved the cabin, exploring the peaceful outdoors and the grassy flat area to play ball.
We appreciated the comfortable and clean cabin and the tranquil porch. It was a peaceful experience. We had everything we needed and an offer for anything else we needed from Julie.
The location is about 10 miles from Brevard. The gravel road had some damage from much recent rain. We were able to locate the cabin before dark, and realized that there is no check in with the owners.
We did receive a welcoming telephone call from Julie and realized that the main topic of the 4 day stay was our comfort and privacy.
What I liked best was the peacefulness and the ability to just be and enjoy God's gifts of nature. -

Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We live in Charlotte, have busy careers, and rarely enough time to relax. On the spur of the moment, we decided on a weekend getaway. Julie was very accommodating and helpful. The cabin was stocked with maps, local attraction brochures, restaurant menus. They had towels and fresh linens. It was a joy to wake up, brew a pot of coffee and sit staring out at the woods while reading a good book. The full kitchen gave us the chance to cook some simple meals, while going into Brevard or asheville for others. We got to bring our little dogs, and they had lots of fun smelling all the woodland scents. If seclusion, relaxation and serenity are your goals - this is a great, clean, well maintained little hideaway. It's well off the beaten path, but close to all the beautiful waterfalls and trails. We'll be back.

I have stayed at this same cabin for 3 years in a row. I travel from Florida to the area to go mountain biking. There are some of the best trails on the east coast with-in 20 minutes of this cabin. There is also thousands of miles of hiking trails very near by. Pisgah National Forest is about a half an hour away and DuPont State Forest can be had in 10-15 minutes.
Just email the owners and they hook you up. All you do is follow the directions (and signs) to get there and they leave the light on for you. When you are ready to leave just leave them a check. It's that easy. The cabin is very nice. It has everything you'll need to have a great time. Plenty of clean towels, bedding, etc. The cabin is very clean and neat. The kitchen has everything you need if you like to cook your own meals. I personally like the Mexican restaurant down the road. But all you really need to do is just bring some groceries and a good attitude and you can't go wrong!

We had both cabins, our parents stayed in one and My Husband, two children, dogs, and I stayed in the other. The children loved playing outside and building forts. It was nice to get away from all of the technology and get the kids outside. So far this has been my favorite vacation. Thank you Julie and Dave for the wonderful experience. We had a great time on our recent stay at Willoughby Woods. Just a three hour drive from our home in Tucker, Ga. These cabins are so clean, comfortable and well built. We love that we don't have to pay to leave our dogs in a kennel. This time we heard whippoorwills calling at night, an owl hoot and lots of peeping frogs when we walked outside at night. But the cabin is so well-built and tight we couldn't hear them at all when we had the windows closed. My only complaint is that the beds are too soft for me and I hope they are replaced soon with some higher quality mattresses. Also, please put facial tissues in the bathroom! But we will be back because we love how close you are to Brevard, Dupont State Forest, Pisgah and more. I have already recommended the cabins to friends. And if you have a couple of families it's great that you can rent both cabins!

Thanks so much for your return visits to Cabins in Willoughby Woods. We are so fortunate to have many return customers. This lets us know that "we are doing things right." As far as the new 3" mattress foam toppers most people remark that they enjoyed the softness and slept like babies. Maybe we need some hard and some soft tops to accommodate everyone. We look forward to your return visit.
