One of our guests wrote: "After living in Boston for 6 years, my husband and I just made our first trip down to the cape and fell in love! Michael's Cottages was the perfect place for us to stay with our two young sons. It is on the quiet side of the cape--no tourist traps on route 6A like you find on the south side, and has close access to BEAUTIFUL beaches. We spent the whole day at Paines Creek Beach, part of the Brewster flats, and had an amazing time exploring the warm water and wading for miles out into the bay. The cottage we stayed in at Michael's was charming, fully equipped and immaculate. Most of the facility appears to be newly updated (including flat screens in the little cottages), and Michael himself proved to be the most helpful of hosts in directing us to good places to eat and great things to see (if you have little ones, don't miss the train set extravaganza at Snows Hardware in Orleans). When we head back to the cape again soon, this will definitely be where we stay. It is a real hidden jewel on one of the most beautiful spots on the cape!

My husband and I recently made our first visit to Cape Cod and stayed at Michael's Cottage #4 in Brewster. This 1950s-era, one-bedroom cottage was immaculate. it also had all the amenities we needed, including a very firm king-sized bed, large shower, two flat-screened TVs, a gas fireplace, a futon in the living room, and a tiny but fully equipped kitchen - with a vase of fresh flowers on the table! We did not have access to WiFi; at the time we visited, the cabin in front of #4 blocked the signal. This was not a problem for us.
Michael's Cottages is located on scenic and historic Route 6a on the less touristy, bay side of the Cape, but because Cottage #4 is set back a bit from the highway it was always quiet. The cottage was great but what made our visit really special were Michael and Cheryl - they were wonderful hosts who made sure we had everything we needed, including the daily local newspaper. They also took the time to recommend areas to visit, restaurants to try, and even provided us with a tide table. We learned just how invaluable a knowledge of the tides is when, without first consulting the tide table, we walked through the salt marsh on the trails behind the Natural History Museum down to one of the beautiful bay beaches. We then returned on the same path which had, in a pretty short period of time, become submerged under several inches of water, schools of minnows, and even a kayak or two of birdwatchers!
Brewster's location made it the perfect starting point for visiting many sites on the Cape, including the bike path, the spectacular Cape Cod National Seashore, Chatham, and Provincetown. We even stumbled across a great steel drum band. Michael and Cheryl also both shared with us fascinating insights, experiences, and a lot of local history, all of which enriched our vacation and made it truly memorable. We had a great first trip to the Cape due in large part to our stay at Michael's Cottages, and will definitely return here on our next visit.
