Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: The town of Bridgnorth is split into two very distinct halves - The High Town and Low Town - divided by the red sandstone ridge on which it is built. Connected by winding streets and stairs as well as the steep funicular railway, visitors can see what Charles I called 'the finest view in all the kingdom'. With a bustling Saturday market providing a colourful backdrop against which to explore the town and castle ruins, Bridgnorth is also close to the River Severn, offering many picturesque riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway also runs nearby - between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster - using a variety of steam and diesel engines. Surrounding Bridgnorth is a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, Ironbridge Gorge, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton.

Great accommodation in a beautiful part of the country

Owl Barn was just what we were looking for in Shropshire. Small but modern accommodation that also was happy for dogs to stay too. All home comforts were provided for. The bed was comfy and there was plenty of storage space. We particularly liked the enclosed 'garden' which was great for letting the dog out. Location was rural and quiet. I guess the only down side was not being within walking distance from a pub for evening meals. However, with Much Wenlock just a short drive away - everything you could have wanted is just on your doorstep. A week's stay was very reasonably priced. Don't hesitate to recommend Owl Barn or adjoining properties.

We love the area. The location is very quiet and the accommodation compact and comfortable. Very convenient for the Ironbridge Gorge museums and the Roman town house at Wroxeter.

A Really great place to stay out in the middle of the country, quite and peaceful. A really warm and welcoming comfortable cottage, with everything you could need. Shrewsbury is a great place to visit for the history and the architecture. Telford for a great shopping centre. Another Great Place to visit is Ironbridge. Overall a Great Break away from City Life
