With three bedrooms, this well-appointed cottage close to the town of Bridgnorth is able to sleep up to six people and is a wonderful place to spend a holiday. This newly renovated barn conversion is set next to a working farm in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Just four miles from the pretty market town of Bridgnorth, and three miles from the ancient priory, shops and pubs at Much Wenlock, this property has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. Composed of exposed beams and oak flooring, this high quality holiday home offers warm, welcoming accommodation for up to six people. There are three bedrooms, a well-equipped fitted... kitchen and a living room with dining area. The property is also well placed for easy access to all local amenities and activities.

Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Town: Split into two very distinct halves – the High Town and Low Town – Bridgnorth is separated by the red sandstone ridge on which it was built. Primarily connected by winding streets and flights of steps, the two halves are also joined by the steep funicular railway. A bustling Saturday market makes excellent backdrop for exploring the town and castle ruins, whilst below, the River Severn offers many scenic riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, and uses a variety of steam and diesel engines whilst surrounding Bridgnorth, there are a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque villages. The area also provides easy access to the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, Ironbridge Gorge, and the popular destinations of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton.Read more

The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.   There was everything you needed at the Hay Loft (even a resident cat) and far exceded our expectations. Located down a narrow country lane it was the ideal location for our stay, with access to Telford only a 10-15 minute drive.
  Total quality is all i can say.

  Peaceful country bolthole with good access to nearby amenities

  The booking service from Sykes was efficient as always - this must be my 5th rental with them. Arrival arrangements for the Hayloft were very relaxed and flexible- which is great after a long journey with children.
  The property is of a very good standard with plenty of wardrobe space, lovely modern kitchen and open plan from the kitchen into the living/dining room - which makes preparing food and serving a nice communal experience. My children loved everything being on one level - being able to go from room to room without stairs. The bedrooms are a reasonable distance from the main sitting room and the walls look quite thick, so I think it would be OK for getting little ones off to sleep. There is a decent garden where you can kick a football(with care). We found a nearby pathway on the OS map - so we enjoyed a few little countryside strolls after tea. Our favourite amenity was the swimming pool at Much Wenlock -it is almost new and very quiet when we visited. Also a pleasant pool at Bridgenorth. The Ironbridge Gorge with its 10 museums is very easy to get to and very picturesque. We visited Blists Hill which is a lovely open air victorian village. The RaF museum at Cosgrove was another favorite and largely indoors so good for a wet day.
  All in all a great holiday contributed to by the peaceful location coupled with a good range of activities within an easy drive.

  The cottage was easy to find and was in a very well presented complex. The layout of the cottage had made the best use of the space available and the fixtures and fittings were of a good quality. The facilities and equipment were comprehensive although it would have benefited from a radio (we are not all i pod users!) The only downside was the fly population due to the horses in the field behind and the proximity to a farm. It would have made life very unbearable if the weather had been hot and you wanted the windows open. The waste bins were also right next to our particular cottage which attracted wasps etc. Perhaps the bins could be relocated further away from any of the properties? The local area was full of places to visit, to eat and scenery to enjoy and walk in so overall it was a very successful holiday.
