Removing oneself from the daily routine of city life and awakening in a place where you hear songbirds outside your window each morning before your eyes are open, exploring the natural environment under clear blue skies and then gazing into the vast array of stars as frogs, owls and other nocturnal animals perform their latest interpretation of a Mozart masterpiece.
Your days are filled with adventures as you hike the many trails throughout the ranch visiting either cattle or horses along the way or seeing indications of where wild animals like bear, deer and cougars have passed. Enjoy the quiet surroundings of the ranch lake in a canoe as you paddle past various colourful birds while fish jump leaving their mark on the water.
Our time spent on the ranch was unforgettable and we have already booked our next year's vacation to re-live a life that is next to impossible to achieve in today's busy world.

During our second visit to the Canadian West Coast we decided to spend a couple of days in the Okanagan Valley. We had been looking for a small peaceful retreat as a basis for day trips/hikes and found Bear Valley Highlands on the internet.
And we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to stay! Our cabin showed the owners' affection for their place - it was clean, cozy and everything we expected and a lot more. The sound of wildlife we heard during our nightly barbecues on the deck was just incredible.
The hikes we had planned to do were quickly being replaced by exploring the huge property of the ranch, canooeing on the beautiful lake or just relaxing.
It was really interesting and a pleasure to talk to Barbara and Juergen and learn about their experience with running a farm in Canada. We also enjoyed the company of their animals and their cute dog Wanja.
Besides our fantastic time at the ranch we also enjoyed our trips in the Lumby area (e. g. Mabel and Sugar Lake).
We will definitely come back! -

The first thing that comes to mind about our stay at Bear Valley Highlands was the view. There was an amazing unobstructed vista for us to enjoy from our patio that made us feel like we were the only people on Earth. The cottage sits on the hill, inside a valley, and far on the horizon you can see the beginning of the Rockies. We had a very busy and loud year and this stay gave us a much needed relaxation within the nature! The cottage looked brand new, very spacious and clean. The owners, a german couple with two daughters were super friendly and nice, willing to help us at any time. We really recommend this cottage if you want to escape a rush hour noise of the city!

Had a fantastic stay, very secluded spot. Cabin was clean and very comfortable and the area was really idyllic and peaceful.
Barb rode up to us on horseback and came to welcome us which we loved and they make you feel really at home and welcomed opening there whole grounds for walking and rambling on.
